Magnolia Flower Pot Holiday Gift Card Holder – CC2C

It’s time for Creating Coast to Coast with Karen Hallam, in California and myself here in Pennsylvania. This month our creative adventure starts here in PA, where I chose our direction. Given the holidays are quickly approaching, our theme this month is “gift giving”. So a holiday gift card holder seemed like a good idea.

I really enjoy creating unique ways to give either money or gift cards. Today’s card was especially fun to create. I used the retired Good Morning, Magnolia stamp set for the flowers, which were stamped in Versa Mark and heat embossed in gold embossing powder before coloring. The DSP on the flower pot is from the retired Season of Green of Gold DSP. The sentiment is from Hero Arts, More Merry Messages stamp set and is also embossed in gold.

I don’t have a template for the flower pot but I can share a few of the dimensions and how it went together. To create the pot, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla thick card stock at 10″ x 4″ and scored it at 4″ and 8″. This leaves 2″ for the front flap. Fold the 2″ flap forward and the 4″ scored line to the back. This will create the pocket after gluing the sides together. I then cut a piece of DSP to cover the front of the pot. Once that’s done, glue the front flap down. There are many ways to decorate the pot. I chose to add the sentiment to the flap.

And here’s the gift card pocket.

The gift card holder measures 2 1/2″ x 6 3/4″, scored at 4 3/4″. At the score line fold the 2″ piece up and glue the sides. This leaves a pocket for the gift card which will fit in the pocket on the back of the pot. Decorate as you like.

Please be sure to head over to Karen’s blog HERE to check out her holiday project.

Thanks for traveling with us this month.

Take care,

Rosanne
