I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was the perfect blend of outdoor fun and indoor crafting. Saturday’s weather here was spectacular after a long and dreary winter/spring. So I took full advantage of it and spent the day at the park with my daughter, Emily and grandson, Jack. Yes, that lake water was green! And Sunday was back to cold and dreary, so I spent the day stamping!
I missed the deadline to enter my card design in the Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week. I made the card in Hartford while attending OnStage and when I came home couldn’t find it anywhere so I had to bow out this week. Well when I finally got around to unpacking all my goodies, I found it neatly hidden with the samples we made at the convention. So I’ll just be posting it among the entries this week. Here is the inspiration board…..
And here is my card….I chose the center column down: CAS, Kraft, Die Cut
The card base is Crumb Cake card stock which I thought was pretty close to kraft paper. Next I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Instead of using a bigger piece of Basic Black card stock than I actually needed, I cut 2 strips at 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ and glued them to the sides so that 1/4″ is visible on each side.
Using the Petal Palette Bundle, I stamped the floral image, colored it with Stampin’ Blends and cut it out. This is one of my favorite bundles from the Occasions Catalog and I’m happy to say that it will be carrying over into the new Annual Catalog. It’s the perfect combination of images and sentiments. I’ve seen so many pretty samples made with this bundle and I’m looking forward to coming up with some of my own.

After positioning and adhering the die cut images, I stamped the sentiment, which came from the March Paper Pumpkin kit, in Basic Black ink.
A few added pearls, which I colored using the dark Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blend marker (did you know you could do that and make custom colored embellishments?) add a soft and pretty touch. I popped this layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals before adhering to the Crumb Cake card base.
I used a (retired) Crumb Cake envelope and stamped the same floral image. This was a quick and easy way to embellish the envelope for a custom look.
The inside sentiment is from the Special Celebrations stamp set. This is another set that’s returning in the new Annual Catalog which makes me very happy because I love sentiment sets that have both outside and coordinating inside sentiments and this set is packed with them.
I hope you’ll visit the Tic Tac Toe Challenge to see all the creativity going on and perhaps share some of your own creativity with us.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Take care,
Rosanne

I agree with Ramsey – a great pic of Emily and Jack! And I love your card. I’ve been playing around with Petal Palette this week and I’m going to save your idea and make one. So pretty!
Thanks Karen…this is a great set that I have not played with nearly enough. So glad it’s sticking around!
Hi Rosanne, so pretty. I like the lacy-ish crumb cake on the black. The pink pearls are so soft, love them too. Wasn’t it great to have one day of sunshine! Your daughter is so pretty and Jack is a doll!
🙂
Thanks very much, Nancy. The ONE day of sunshine was wonderful!
