Using Tulle for a Pretty Background

Today I have something a bit different (at least for me).  I created my card with a subtle yet oh so pretty tulle background.  You may have to look closer to see it but IRL, it’s very evident.  I take no credit for this discovery and owe it to watching Jennifer McGuire using the technique.  I did have the tulle on hand, though!

So what do you think?  Is it something you would use on a card? Let me share the details…

• The A2 Very Vanilla card base measures 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″.
• A piece of Very Vanilla thick card stock is cut at 5″ x 3 3/4″. 
• The tulle is wrapped around to cover this panel and secured with regular tape.
• The flowers, from the True Love Designer Series Paper, are colored using Rococo Rose and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends and cut out.
• I positioned the flowers on the tulle cover panel starting from the middle to the edges and glued them with Tombow liquid glue.  
• After gluing, I trimmed any flowers that were hanging off the edge, being careful not to cut into the tulle.

• The Basic Black frame is a non-SU die that fit perfectly around my images.  I used this as opposed to the Stitched Rectangle dies because it was a little wider.  The Stitched Rectangles would work also.  I cut two frames and glued them together for a little more dimension.
• The frame is glued to the tulle panel and then both are glued to the card base.
• The sentiment, from the Butterfly Gala stamp set (and one of my most favorite sentiments) is heat embossed with white embossing powder and added to the card with dimensionals.
• Lastly, I added a few sequins for a little sparkle.

• The inside is embellished with a small strip of colored DSP and card stock.
• The sentiment is from the Floral Essence stamp set and placed at the top to give room for a personal note.

• I couldn’t complete a card without coordinating the envelope.  Again, I used a strip of colored DSP.  You may (or may not) have noticed that on the envelope and inside card, I colored the DSP background as well with a black Stampin’ Blend.  Needless to say, I could color all day!

It’s time to start saying goodbye to some favorite products to make room for some new favorites.  Initially, I’m always a bit overwhelmed by all that is going away but eventually I can reconcile it with returning favorites and embrace some of the new.  Here’s a look at what’s leaving along with some really deep discounts.  However, once a product is sold out, it’s gone for good!
