Creating Coast to Coast: Sunflowers

Karen and I are at it again, crafting, creating and crossing the country! This month, Karen Hallam way out in California chose our direction, which was West, right?! lol. She also chose our theme: Sunflowers.

The only current Stampin’ Up! sunflower product I had on hand was the new Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. And boy is it a beauty! The embossing is so deep and detailed lending it to many ways to use it.

Full disclosure…I tried and tried (like all day) to color the flowers and was just never satisfied with the way they looked. So I went with a monochromatic look by embossing the sunflowers and cutting a partial image.

I started with a Crushed Curry card base and a Basic Black panel. Then using an embossing folder from my stash, I embossed another panel in Very Vanilla card stock. Next I glued the partial sunflower image to the Very Vanilla embossed panel, trimming the edges. Karen suggested that it looked like just one embossing panel when glued together. Then all the panels were glued to the card base.

The sentiment is from a retired SU set, Celebrate Sunflowers and is heat embossed and hand cut. A few added embellishments complete the card.

If you haven’t come from Karen’s blog already, please head over to see her wonderful card. And I hope you’ll join us next month for a new crafting adventure.

Take care,

Rosanne
