A Falling Flowers Birthday – Pals Blog Hop

After a very long, cold and wet winter here on the East Coast, I am craving Spring. It’s still not quite here yet but there are definitely signs that it’s on its way. So while I wait a little longer to plant some flowers, I can still “grow” and enjoy the paper variety.

In keeping with my resolve to use all my stamp sets and not just those that are the latest and greatest, I reached for the Falling Flowers stamp set and coordinating May Flower framelits for today’s card. This set has been around for a few catalogs so its days may be numbered as a current set but I know I’ll still be using it well after. I love the variety of flowers in this set and the endless color combinations you can create.

Here are the details…

I started with an A2 card base in Sahara Sand card stock with a top fold.
The next layer is a pattern from the Neutrals 6 x6 Designer Series Paper. These color collections come in so handy. Even if they’re the only DSP you have, you’ll still have all you need to create beautifully color coordinated projects.
The Whisper White panel is cut with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.

Above you can see how I created a window using a square die from the Layering Square Framelits. My initial idea was to give the illusion of the flowers falling from the window but I think I got a little carried away with the flowers and now they look like they’re climbing up the window! I glued the window panel directly to the patterned paper.

After stamping and cutting out the flowers, I colored them using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
Besides the coloring (which is totally relaxing to me) these fun flowers, the most fun was arranging them. I used Stampin’ Dimensionals on some.
The sentiment is from the Varied Vases stamp set.
After completing this panel, I used some Fun Foam to pop it up on the card base. I like using Fun Foam because you can cut it to the exact size you need and there’s no sagging or gaps. I also buy it in a few neutral colors and try to use the closest color to match the card stock. I used tan for this card and it’s hardly noticeable from the sides.

I completed the inside with another sentiment from Varied Vases stamp set and the large flourish from the Falling Flowers stamp set.

While I had this stamp set and framelits out, I created another card using a different technique that I will post soon. I’m always happy when I can find new ways to use these old friends! I hope this has given you a little inspiration to give new life to some of those less used sets sitting on your shelf.

A Lasting Lily Friendship Card

Today’s card features the stamp set, Lasting Lily. This set is available until the end of March during Sale-a-bration. Along with the beautiful lily images, the set includes terrific sentiments. And Stampin’ Up! just released the coordinating framelits that you can purchase. This is definitely one set that will stand the test of time with me.

Here’s the details…

The card base is Very Vanilla thick card stock with a panel of Petal Pink card stock.
The next layer is a pretty plaid pattern is from my never-ending stash. However, I’m not sure what company it’s from.
Using a die from the Layering Circles framelits, I created a window in the plaid panel. I then glued a retired doilie on the back.
I gave this panel a pretty lift by adhering it to the Petal Pink layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The flower was stamped in Petal Pink and Old Olive ink. I cut them out using the Brother Scan n Cut but you can easily cut them out with the coordinating framelits that are available now. Both the flowers and stems are popped up with Dimensionals.
Before I glued the Petal Pink layer to the card base, I wrapped it with a piece of retired ribbon and added the bow.

The sentiment is also from Lasting Lily and is punched with the (retired) Word Window punch.
A few added sequins are a pretty finishing touch.

I really enjoyed mixing new, old and different products to create this card.

Wreath Building Workshop with Gina K

I mentioned in my last post that I recently attended a class taught by Gina Krupsky, owner of Gina K Designs and her daughter, Rina. Gina is the mastermind behind the Wreath Builder template and stamp sets. This tool and coordinating stamps create the most beautiful cards so easily.

I really can’t attempt to give a good tutorial on these but you most certainly can find many on YouTube. I think once you see the method behind these, you’ll agree that it’s so easy and the results are beautiful!

And this is one that I created on my own…

I used the original Wreath Builder stamp set for these cards. However, Gina has a few other sets that work with this technique. If you’re looking for a different way to stamp that’s easy and produces pretty results, I urge you to look into this.

In case you missed my last post, here is a picture of my stamping group with Gina and Rina (both in the black shirts). We had such a fun time!

Hang in There with Animal Expedition

Is it Monday already? I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. As I mentioned in my post on Friday, I spent Saturday at an awesome class taught by Gina K—-, owner of Gina K Designs and her daughter, Rina. Both Gina and Rina were super nice and so funny. This class was a blast. I will share what we made in my next post. But here is a photo of our group.

Once again, I’m reaching back into some of my favorite products from the Annual Catalog for today’s Encouragement card. The inspiration for my card came from a fellow Pal, Ann Schach. You can see Ann’s card HERE. Sometimes sending a lighthearted card to let someone know you’re in their corner can make a big difference The focal point of today’s card is the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper. The images in this collection are so much fun!

Here’s the details…

The A2 (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) card base is Whisper White thick card stock.
The next layer is Berry Burst card stock cut at 1/8″ smaller followed by a pattern from the Animal Expedition DSP cut an additional 1/8″ smaller.

The cute hanging Sloth and colorful Chameleon are cut from another pattern from this paper collection. I popped the Chameleon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The sentiment is from the retired set, Here For You, and is stamped with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed.
The layered rectangles are cut with the Rectangles Stitched framelits available in the Occasions Catalog. I also popped this with Dimensionals and added the Chameleon.

A few more snipped images from the DSP continue the cuteness on the inside.
The stamped sentiment is from the Well Said stamp set, also available in the Occasions Catalog. Although I only used the stamps, this is also available as a bundle that includes the stamps and word dies for just about any occasion.

Although I don’t know anyone who needs this type of card at the moment, it will be good to have on hand if the occasion arises. By changing the inside sentiment, this would also make a great Get Well card.
