Bold & Gold Butterfly Birthday

Happy Monday!  If you’re like me and don’t live in a warm climate,  you have to be so tired of this dreary winter!  I’m looking forward to March, even if it’s still cold…because the end is in sight!  With this mindset, I pulled out the Butterflies and Bold Butterfly framelits to create today’s card.

Bold Butterfly Birthday - Rosanne Mulhern

I used the large die from the Bold Butterfly Framelits to cut a “window” in the Very Vanilla card stock.  I then added the gold patterned paper from the Bundle of Love Designer Series Paper to the back of the butterfly.  The Very Vanilla panel is edged with a thin panel of Gold Foil paper on either side before adhering it to the Very Vanilla thick card stock card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The detailed butterfly was cut from the Butterflies Thinlits in Gold Foil paper.  The sentiment is a non-SU stamp and is heat embossed in gold embossing powder.  A few Metallic Enamel shapes added the finishing touch!

The inside sentiment is from the Wild About Flowers stamp set and is stamped in Soft Suede ink. This color actually looks a little “golden” so it blends perfectly when using a lot of gold on a card.

This card came together rather quickly but has a simple elegance that is perfect for a feminine birthday card!

I hope you have a wonderful week and are seeing some tiny signs of spring in your area!

“Celebrate” Your Birthday – TTTC #36

Stampin Up Celebrate You Birthday Cards - Rosanne Mulhern

Today’s card was so much fun to make. It has so many elements that I love…cute little flowers, polka dots and pretty eyelet trim.  But the star of the card is the thinlit from the Celebrate You thinlits that FREE with a $100 purchase during Sale-a-bration.  HERE’S another card I made using this die…

I’m playing along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge and chose the third column down: fancy border, wildflower, one-word sentiment AND third column diagonal: fancy border, green, popped up.

I pulled out some under-loved products for this card.  The fancy border was created using the Decorative Ribbon Border punch.  Punches are so easy to use and this one creates such a pretty border.  I really do need to use this more!

The “celebrate” die was cut with a pattern from a retired Designer Series Paper.  I knew I wanted to use polka dots and they needed to be small so I pulled out some long retired DSP that I kept just because I love polka dots.  To create a 3D effect, I also cut the die out with black fun foam and layered the DSP on it.  This gave the perfect dimension.

The cute little flowers are stamped from the Bike Ride stamp set and colored with Stampin’ Write markers. Even though the Stampin’ Blends are all the rage right now, the Stampin’ Write markers still come in handy, especially when coloring small images.  I cut them with the coordinating Build a Bike framelits.  This bundle has so many adorable accessory stamps and dies…sometimes these are the most fun!

Stampin Up Celebrate You Birthday Cards Idea- Rosanne MulhernThe inside sentiment is from the Celebrate You stamp set available in the Annual Catalog.  Isn’t this a fun font!

Here’s the project details

  • The card base is Whisper White thick card stock with a mat of Old Olive card stock cut 1/8″ smaller.  Another mat of regular Whisper White card stock is cut an additional 1/8″ smaller.
  • The striped pattern from the Sweet Soiree Designer Series Paper collection measures    5 1/4″ x 1 3/4″.  A 1/4″ strip of Flirty Flamingo card stock is glued above the striped panel.
  • I used the Washi Tape included with the Embellishment kit and ran it between the DSP and Flirty Flamingo strip. I think it adds a pretty detail.

  • A few translucent pink sequins added a bit more sparkle.

  • I used another non-SU sentiment for the inside as I’m sending this to a friend who really needs both peace and strength.
  • A strip of DSP decorates the side along with another die cut from the kit.

  • I mimicked the design on the front of the card for the front of the envelope.

I think this will be a pretty pick-me-up for my friend.  We all love making cards but knowing they will brighten someone’s day is just a wonderful feeling.  This is such an awesome hobby filled with creativity as well as kindness…why not share it!

Here’s a couple more cards I recently made using the Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit and I still have a lot of embellishments left to complete even more.   You can also see from the Product List below that this card really took minimal supplies to make…the kit did most of the work! You can purchase your own kit HERE.

Oh So Eclectic Birthday

Stampin Up Oh Eclectic Birthday Card - Rosanne Mulhern

Happy Monday and President’s Day!  I hope it’s a day off for you as it is for me.  Naturally, I had a ton of errands to run which is not how I like to spend these holidays but they had to get done.  However,  I had a very productive day stamping yesterday and this is one of the cards I made.

I’ve pretty much exhausted the sets that I’ve gotten from the Occasions Catalog and wanted to wait until the new Sale-a-brations items were available on the 16th to place another order…which I did!  So I reached for a   forgotten favorite, the Oh So Eclectic Bundle from the Annual Catalog.  I haven’t used this set nearly enough and each time I pull it out, I get so many ideas.

Here’s a Stampin’ Up! video giving you the full scoop on these fun products…

Here’s the project details

  • The card base is Whisper White thick card stock, with a mat of Peekaboo Peach card stock cut 1/8″ smaller and glued directly to the card base
  • A piece of regular Whisper White card stock was cut an additional 1/8″ smaller.
  • Before adhering this layer to the Peekaboo Peach card stock, I wrapped a piece of Peekaboo Peach 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon around it.   Then it’s glued using Tombow.

  • The blue flower was stamped in Soft Sky ink and sponged in the center with Night of Navy ink.  The peach flower was stamped in Peekaboo Peach ink and sponged in the center with Tangerine Tango ink.
  • I used the detailed die from the Oh So Eclectic bundle to cut one Soft Sky and two Peekaboo Peach flowers and glued them on top of the stamped flowers.
  • The leaves were stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink and cut with another die from the bundle.
  • All the flowers and leaves are popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin Up Oh Eclectic Birthday Card Ideas- Rosanne Mulhern

  • Let’s talk about the sentiment….it’s from the FREE Sale-a-bration set, Amazing You.  I stamped it in Night of Navy ink and cut it using the Brother Scan n’ Cut.  I was able to cut the Soft Sky mat also.  I love this machine!
  • I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop it on the ribbon.

Stampin Up Oh Eclectic Birthday Card Inside - Rosanne Mulhern

  • I keep the inside pretty simple.  The inside sentiment is two stamps from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.  It’s stamped in Night of Navy ink.

Stampin Up Oh Eclectic Birthday Card - Rosanne Mulhern

  • Look how pretty the envelope liner is…now you know where I got my color inspiration from!!  I love how  the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper just brought the whole project together!

I mentioned above that I was waiting to place another order from the Occasions Catalog until the second release of the Sale-a-bration…well I must say that I’m so glad I did because Stampin’ Up! came through with some beautiful products in this second installment.  There’s still a month left to take advantage of this great offer.  I can’t wait to get my order and you can see everything HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Take care,

Rosanne
