Tranquil Tulips Trio for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals March 2018 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is “Spring has Sprung”. The Stampin’ Pretty Pals will inspire you with Spring or Spring-related projects. You may see floral, Easter or other general Spring-inspired designs. You may be just starting or hopped over from another Pal. In either case you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

Stampin Up Tranquil Tulips All Occasion Cards Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern

What is more Spring-inspiring than tulips?  I love most flowers and these are one of my favorites.  The only down side to them is how short-lived they are.  And if you live in a colder climate, sometimes they’re hit with a Spring freeze that wipes them out altogether.  I know because this has happened to me!  But these pretty paper tulips may as well just be perennials!

Tranquil Tulips is a stamp set that I’ve had sitting on my shelf for so long without ever inking it up.  I’m not sure why I waited so long but now that it’s tulip season, I’ll be using this more and more.  This stamp set is available in the Annual Catalog as a Host Set.  So when you place an order of $150 or more, you can purchase this set for only $10.

Tranquil Tulips Photopolymer Stamp Set – #143767

This only gets better during Sale-a-Bration because also with the same $150 order, you can choose 3 FREE $50 items or 1FREE $100 item AND 1 FREE $50 item.  All the details are HERE.

The card base is Crumb Cake card stock.  Next, I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder and then layered a smaller pattern from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper in Lemon Lime Twist.  Before adhering this panel to the card base I wrapped a piece of Crumb Cake Ribbon to hide the seam.  Then it’s popped up on the card base.

To stamp the tulips, I used my Misti to position the stems and leaves first and stamped them in Old Olive ink.  Then I positioned and stamped the flowers.  This is a two-step stamp set but I only stamped the solid flowers onto the stems before hand cutting them out.

Once I had the flowers arranged on the card, I stamped another set of flowers, using both the solid and the detailed stamps in Flirty Flamingo ink and hand cut these out as well to glue on top of the flowers already on the card.  This extra step gave the flowers a little extra dimension.

The sentiment is from the Label Me Pretty Bundle available in the Annual Catalog.  I heat embossed the Flirty Flamingo label in White Embossing Powder.  Then stamped the sentiment in Flirty Flamingo ink and layered it on the label.

Lastly, a linen thread bow adds a bit more country charm.

I know I’m a little late to the party in appreciating just what a great color Lemon Lime Twist is and paired with Flirty Flamingo just makes it that much more fresh and pretty.  I’m glad at least Lemon Lime Twist will be around for another year but sad that Flirty Flamingo will be gone. The 2016-2018 In-Colors don’t have that much longer so if any of these colors are your favorites, I encourage you to stock up now before they end up being sold out. There’s talk of a color refresh this new catalog year, so perhaps one or more of these colors will be saved!  Here’s a quick look at them…

2016-2018 In-Colors
Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum

Personally, I would be happy if they ALL came back…these are some of my favorite colors!

I’ve lined the envelope using the (retired) Envelope Liner Framelits with the same pattern from the Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper.

Delighted with Daisies

Happy Monday and Happy Daylight Savings Time.  I love when the clocks change this time of year.  That extra hour of daylight really cheers me up.  I hope this card will do the same for you!

Stampin Up Daisy Delight Thinking of You Card Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern

For today’s card, I pulled out the once popular but slightly forgotten Daisy punch.  This punch was the hit of the Annual Catalog back in June when it debuted but like a lot of really great products got pushed aside for newer sets.  I’ve been trying to make a conscious effort to use most of the sets I’ve purchased and not get stuck using just the latest and the greatest!

You can click on the link in the Product List below to order any of the products I used on today’s card.  I think it’s a pretty straightforward card and just made me smile.

The daisies were punched from Very Vanilla card stock and sponged with So Saffron ink.  I punched the centers and embossed them for a little texture.

The leaves were stamped in Old Olive ink using an image from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set, which is another under-used set in my collection.  They were hand cut.  Each flower is popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment, from the Best Birds stamp set, is stamped in Early Espresso ink and cropped with the Layering Ovals framelit.  The two additional layers are also cut from these framelits.  The Layering Ovals, Circles and Squares are such a staple to have and really earn their keep!

I added the sweet little bees from the Touches of Texture stamp set because the daisies I have in my flowerbeds always seem to have bees buzzing around them and I think these are just so cute.

The wood grain and gingham paper are non-SU but were so perfect for this card.  I have quite a collection of paper (like most card makers) and love it when I can find just what I need to create the look I envision.  I stamped the sweet little trio of daisies from the Daisy Delight stamp set in Daffodil Delight ink and used a Stampin’ Write marker to color the center.  I left the inside blank for a personal note.

Daisies are one of my favorite flowers. There’s a line from the movie You’ve Got Mail (which is one of my favorite movies) where Meg Ryan refers to daisies as such happy flowers and I agree!  So I hope today’s card made you smile!

HERE are two more cards I made using the Daisy punch…

Thanks for stopping by and even though the temperature here certainly doesn’t indicate Spring, I am definitely coming down with Spring Fever and I hope you are too!  Must be that extra hour of daylight!

There’s only 3 more weeks left to take advantage of one of the best promotions of the year.  Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31 and the products offered this year are just fantastic!  You can check it all out HERE

Take care,

A Sweet Soiree Hello

Stampin Up Sweet Soiree Jar of Flowers - Rosanne Mulhern

I know you’re probably thinking, “there she goes again with the Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit”, and you would be exactly right.  This kit doesn’t quit!  It has so many wonderful elements to make dozens of new and unique projects.  I’ve paired the embellishment kit with the Jar of Love stamp set and Everyday Jars framelits to create today’s card.

Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist and Whisper White is such a fresh and pretty color combination…don’t you think?

Stampin Up Sweet Soiree Jar of Flowers Cards Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern

After stamping and cutting out the jar, I cut another jar using vellum as an overlay.  I like the muted effect it gave the jar and also coincided with the vellum flowers.

The flowers were colored on the backside with Stampin’ Blend markers. My favorite aspect of this card is the little water droplets on a few flower petals and the jar.  I used a few drops of Crystal Effects for them.  Sometimes it’s just those little details….

I stamped a sentiment from the Eastern Beauty stamp set and cut it out with a die from the Bunch of Banners framelits for the little tag.  You could make this card for any number of occasions by just changing the sentiment.  This would make a perfect Mother’s Day card, too!

I still have more elements left in this kit so there may be another project(or two) in the future.  If you haven’t looked at the Sweet Soiree Embellishment kit in the Occasions Catalog, I urge you to check it out for yourself.  It’s an amazing kit and such a value at only $11.00.  You can order this or any of the other products I used to create today’s card by clicking on them in the Product List below.

I’m entering this card is the following challenges:

Another Birthday Butterfly

Today is my sweet, sensitive and extremely artistic daughter, Lauren’s birthday.  She loves butterflies and has a Papillon (which means butterfly) puppy so naturally butterflies are a good choice for her card.

I used this layout on a card I did HERE last week and decided not to recreate the wheel.  I just changed the color scheme, patterned paper and sentiment and the card felt new and different.

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Basic Black card stock and the pretty paisley patterned paper (say that 3x fast!) is a design from a Graphic 45 paper collection.
  • I followed the same method to create the card as in my other post HERE.

Bold Butterfly Birthday Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern

  • The sentiment and die are from a Clearly Besotted set and are stamped in Basic Black ink on Crushed Curry card stock.
  • I mentioned before that I buy individual color packages of sequin and create my own combinations.  That’s what I did here, mimicking the colors in the patterned paper.

  • The shaker aspect makes the card so much more colorful and fun.  I’ve been having a lot of fun recently with shaker cards HERE and HERE.

Bold Butterfly Birthday Cards - Rosanne Mulhern

  • The inside sentiment is a non-SU stamp set.  I think sentiments are so important on cards and have been trying to collect different sets.
  • The envelope flap is embellished with the flip side of the patterned paper…that was easy!

This card is just like my sweet yet spunky Lauren!

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday.

Take care,

Rosanne
