Another “Amazing You” for the Tic Tac Toe #32

Today I’m playing along with the Tic Tac Toe Challenge and there’s still time for you to play along also.  The challenge boards offer so much inspiration that it’s easy to come up with an idea.  It’s like half the work is already done for you!  Here’s the latest challenge board:

I chose the third row diagonal: Friend, Neutral, Sparkle

Stampin Up Amazing You Friendship and Thank You Card - Rosanne Mulhern

Here’s the details

  • I cut this card a little differently than the usual A2 card.  The Smoky Slate card stock measures 8″ x 5 1/2″ and is scored at 4 1/4″.
  • A strip of Basic Gray card stock and a piece of retired Pink Pirouette DSP, each cut 1/4″ wide were added, leaving an open 1/2″.

  • Once again, I’m using the gorgeous flower from the Amazing You stamp set along with the coordinating, Celebrate You thinlits.  Both are available FREE during Sale-a-bration. Each of these products are pretty terrific on their own but when you pair them, they are outstanding and can be used in so many different ways.

  • I stamped the flower image onto a piece of DSP in Old Olive ink and used the same technique I used on THIS card to create the flower focal point.  The flower image was cropped onto a framelit from the Lot of Labels framelits.
  • The flowers were colored in Pink Pirouette using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. I also used Clear Wink of Stella on them. It’s a shame that Wink of Stella doesn’t photograph well because it does add such a pretty sparkle to the card.
  • Before adhering the image to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals, I cut a Delicate White Doilie in half and tucked it behind the label.
  • The “amazing” was cut from the Celebrate You thinlits in some retired Brushing Bride glitter paper.  I hang onto all the glitter paper that comes out and horde every little piece for projects just like this.
  • Lastly, I stamped the “you” in Basic Black ink directly to the Smoky Slate card base.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Basket of Wishes stamp set found in the Annual Catalog.
  • I made sure that the Whisper White inside panel was positioned so that it didn’t show when the card was closed.
  • Another strip of DSP adds a pretty touch to the inside as well as to the inside of the envelope.  I still use the retired Envelope Framelits for this.

  • I find that I’ve been using more retired items lately. My thoughts are that all the new products are fabulous and fun and I love working with them.  But sometimes they only get better when paired with some old favorites.  So you have them…why not use them!

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope if you haven’t already stopped by the Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week, that you’ll take a look and join in….

Stampin Up Amazing You Stamp Set Sale-a-bration Card - Rosanne Mulhern

Here’s the details:

  • The card base is Old Olive card stock with a mat of Basic Black cut 1/4″ smaller.
  • The next layer is Whisper White card stock cut an additional 1/4″ smaller .
  • I stamped the flower image three times on the Whisper White card stock in Old Olive ink.
  • The flower was then stamped six times in Black Memento ink.  I colored two flowers in each of these colors:  Rich Razzleberry, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight using Stampin’ Blends markers.
  • One set of flowers (one in each color) was hand cut and adhered to the stamped images on the card stock with tombow glue.
  • The next set of flowers were trimmed to the inner petals.  Before adhering these to the flowers that were glued directly to the card stock, I used a bone folder to curl the petals.
  • I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them.  The curled petals along with the Dimensionals created a pretty 3D effect.
  • The sentiment is from one of my all-time favorite stamp sets, Butterfly Basics and is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set.
  • The sentiments I chose allow this card to be for any number of occasions which make it a good one to keep on hand.
  • A few thin strips of DSP from the Petal Garden Designer Series Paper collection are a subtle accent for the inside.
  • Another pattern from the Petal Garden DSP embellishes the envelope flap to create a pretty and coordinated card.

Baby Girl Congrats – Tic Tac Toe Challenge #31

Hooray…it’s Tic Tac Toe Thursday!

I really look forward to creating for this challenge and love the elements that each board presents.  One reason for this is that there is so much inspiration on the board which really stretches your creativity. I usually to study the board for a bit and try to come up with a few different ideas before settling on my actual card.

The card I thought I settled on for today’s challenge actually turned into a completely different card for a completely different occasion.  This happens to me quite often and I’m always happy when it results in a pretty project.

Baby Card for Tic Tac Toe Challenge - Rosanne Mulhern

I chose the left row diagonal:  Pink, Ribbon, Square.  I originally set out to create a Valentine card using the beautiful heart die but somehow just couldn’t get my vision to work so a sweet little baby card happened instead! I pulled together a lot of products from different sources but they all seemed to work well together.

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Whisper White thick card stock and the pink gingham pattern is from a My Favorite Things 6 x 6 paper pad.  The gingham is the square on the challenge board. I popped the pattern up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Spellbinders Lace Hearts dies created the intricate heart.  It’s actually 2 different dies used to create the heart.  I’ve had these dies for a very long time and usually only pull them out around Valentine’s Day, but obviously they can be used for other occasions.
  • The pink bow is retired SU ribbon from a long time ago.
  • I think that little bear is just adorable!  He comes from a My Favorite Things stamp and die set called Somebunny I Love.  Since I’m a new grandmom, I needed a cute set like this. He’s colored lightly with Stampin’ Blends markers and also popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Baby Card for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #31 - Rosanne Mulhern

  • The sentiment is from the Stampin’ Up! set Better Together available in the Annual Catalog. I cut it out using a die from the new Petals and More Thinlits.  I love when a set of framelits come with a label die.  They are always so handy!

Baby Card for Tic Tac Toe Challenge#31 - Rosanne Mulhern

  • I pulled out another retired Stampin’ Up! set for the inside sentiment.  It’s from the Made with Love stamp set.

So there you have what I intended to be a pretty Valentine card but ended up a sweet Baby card. Why not hop over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge to see the fantastic projects my design teammates have come with.  And I hope you’ll be inspired to play along with us this week…it really is a lot of fun!

A Paper Pumpkin Challenge

I hope your week is off to a good start on this holiday Monday.  I have a quick but fun post today.  I mentioned this before that my upline, Susan Itell sends her team some card pieces each month and challenges us to come up with a project using her ingredients.  Susan calls them “card guts”!  Well I forgot to take a picture of the guts I received before I put my card together but I can tell you that it came from the December Paper Pumpkin kit.

So now that you can see the kit, you’ll be able to see what I received.  Here’s the card I came up with…

Stampin Up Paper Pumpkin Alternate Project with Party Pandas - Rosanne Mulhern

Here’s the details

  • My kit included 2 of the  Lemon Lime Twist leaf panels along with the card base and another plain piece of Whisper White card stock.  I’m not exactly sure what color the card base is as it’s a little darker than Crumb Cake.
  • With the Whisper White card stock, I sponged Soft Sky ink to create an illusion of the sky.  I like to think my cute little panda is hiding up in the trees.
  • I simply added the Lemon Lime Twist over the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin Up Paper Pumpkin Alternate Card Project with Party Panda - Rosanne Mulhern

  • This adorable panda is included in a FREE set from the Sale-a-bration Catalog that you can earn with a $50 purchase.  He’s stamped in Basic Black and hand cut, then tucked in between the leaves.
  • The butterflies are from the retired set, Papillon Potpourri.  I colored them with Stampin’ Write Markers and punched them with the retired Bitty Butterfly punch.  These are adhered with mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin Up Paper Pumpkin Alternate Project with Party Panda - Rosanne Mulhern

  • The sentiment is from A Little Wild stamp set available in the Annual Catalog and is cut using a retired framelit from the Baker’s Box framlits.
  • I cut a leaf frond from the other Lemon Lime Twist panel in my kit to embellish the envelope.

I really love this monthly challenge of Susan’s.  When I open the envelope and see the pieces, my first thought is “what am going to do with this”!  But when I sit down with it, the ideas just start to flow.  And Susan being the kind and generous person she is, always includes a wonderful little surprise as well!

Thanks for stopping by today and if you have the day off from work today (like me), I hope it’s an enjoyable one!

Take care,

Rosanne
