I created the top card first and was happy with it, but after photographing it decided maybe I could “amp” it up a little.  I made the second card adding one detail and taking one away.  I think there definitely is a difference in the overall look.

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Whisper White thick card stock.
  • A patterned panel from the Petal Garden Designer Series Paper Stack measures 2″ x 5 1/2″.

  • The center panel consists of a Sweet Sugarplum panel measuring 3″ x 4″ and a Whisper White panel measuring 1/4″ smaller.
  • A piece of Sweet Sugarplum 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon is wrapped around the center panel with a sweet little bow attached with a glue dot.
  • The stamped image, from Celebration Time stamp set is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum ink on Whisper White card stock and cut with a thinlit from Celebration thinlits.
  • On this die cut, I snipped the bow from the top and the pedestal from the cake plate, leaving just a cake.
  • Another cake is cut from the thinlits in Sweet Sugarplum card stock.  Layer both the cake and this die cut staggering the cake a bit to show some of the plate at the bottom.
  • I popped the image with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • For the card above, I simply added a few retired sequins.
  • This layer is also popped on the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Here’s the difference….on this card I embossed the Whisper White panel with the Softly Falling embossing folder.

Here they are side by side.  The girls in my card making class last week preferred the embossed card.  I think I agree with them.  The added dimension of the embossing makes the panel “pop” more. Which one do you prefer?

Thanks for stopping by today…and remember that the new Holiday Catalog goes live on Friday, Sept. 1.  I’ve been busy creating some fun projects with the products from this catalog…stay tuned.

Take care,

Foil Frenzy Explosion Treat Boxes

Happy Friday…and there’s another summer weekend ahead.  There are really very few left so I hope you have some fun plans!

Speaking of fun…I have a fun and easy 3D project today.  I mentioned earlier in the week that I held a birthday card making class, so I created these cute little “presents” for the ladies.  I really enjoy making favors for any occasion and these were so fast and easy to create.  I found the tutorial for these on Sam Hammond’s Pootles site HERE.  Sam used these to create EOS lip balm but they also worked well for my project.

Stampin’ Up! Foil Frenzy Specialty paper was perfect for these boxes.  It is heavy enough to create a very sturdy box and certainly pretty enough to make them festive.

Here’s the details

  • These sweet little boxes measure 2″ x 2″.
  • I modified Sam’s directions and deleted the base for the lip balm.
  • The colors of Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Soft Sky are so pretty against the kraft paper.

  • Since these are Explosion Boxes when the lid was removed…the surprise inside was a Ferraro Roche candy.
  • I punched a retired scallop for the bottom and applied a little Tombow glue to the candy cup to keep it secure.
  • I also used a retired Project Life corner rounder punch for the boxes.

  • So Easy & Pretty! Bow Builder punch made the perfect size bow for the box top.

These were a fun little addition to our birthday card making class!  If you are local to me and would like to attend my next class, please email me at rosanne@heartfeltstamping and I will be sure to let you know the details for my September class.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a fabulous Friday!

Take care,

Rosanne

Oh So Eclectic Birthday – #TTTC012

It’s that time of the week for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  If you haven’t yet played, I would urge you to give it a try.  The challenge board is packed with fun elements to really spark your creativity.  These are some of the easiest cards I create because most of the inspiration is already on the board!  Here is this week’s…..

I chose the bottom row across:  die cut, sentiment, floral

My card features the Oh So Eclectic stamp set and coordinating Eclectic Layers thinlits.  I mentioned earlier in the week that I bought this set because of one thinlit….the one I used on this card HERE.  However, after seeing so many pretty samples, I am sold on the entire bundle now.

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Pear Pizzazz card stock.
  • The patterned background is from the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper.  As you can see here, this is more than just a Christmas paper.  The patterns in this collection are super versatile.  I used another on this card HERE.

  • The center panel is Pear Pizzazz card stock measuring 4″ x 3″ with a mat of Whisper White card stock cut 1/8″ smaller.

  • The sentiment is from the Rose Wonder stamp set and is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink.
  • It’s all in the details! A pretty, yet very simple, detail is the Berry Burst 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon wrapped around the sentiment layer with a bow added.
  • The blooms are stamped in Berry Burst ink using the Oh So Eclectic stamp set.  Two step stamping created the color variation.  I first stamped off once for the main flower and then at full ink for the detailed stamp.
  • The leaves were created using a pattern from the Color Theory Designer Paper Stack and punched with the new Leaf punch that will be available in the Holiday Catalog on Sept. 1.
  • The flowers are arranged and layered using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set.
  • A little added Designer Series Paper with a thin strip of Berry Burst card stock coordinates so nicely with the outside of the card.
  • And to tie the whole card together, the envelope flap is embellished with more Designer Series Paper.

Happy Birthday Delivery

Stampin Up Happy Birthday Delivery Birthday Card - Rosanne Mulhern

I held a birthday card making class last night and this was one of the cards we made.  I think this is such a bright and cheerful card and appropriate for any age.  The Happy Birthday thinlit steals the show on any card with it’s flirty and fun font and coupled with a few products from the Birthday Delivery suite make it even more fun!

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Whisper White thick card stock with a mat of Pumpkin Pie card stock cut 1/4″ smaller.
  • The next layer is a piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 3″ x 3 7/8″.
  • A pattern from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper is cut at 2″ x 3 7/8″.  This overlaps the Whisper White just a little.
  • I wrapped a piece of Pumpkin Pie 1/4″ Stitched Edge Ribbon around this panel and then glued it directly to the Pumpkin Pie panel. This covers the overlapping.

  • The Happy Birthday sentiment was cut out twice using the Happy Birthday thinlit…once in Pumpkin Pie card stock and then again in Pacific Point card stock.
  • Layering and offsetting the sentiments really creates a nice shadowing effect.
  • The presents are stamped in Basic Black Archival ink and colored with Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then cropped with a coordinating die from the Birthday Friends framelits.
  • Pop the Presents!  Stampin’ Dimensionals give the presents a real boost!

  • The inside sentiment is from the Better Together stamp set and is stamped in Pacific Point ink.
  • I embellished the inside with another piece of Designer Series Paper.
  • A few more presents to the front of the envelope gives a little hint of the fun inside.
  • I created a mask for the presents to mimic the layered presents on the front of the card.

I think this is a great card to make several of to have on hand.  It’s bright and cheerful, as well as, age and gender neutral.

Thanks very much for joining me today and I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Take care,

Rosanne
