Hello there, honey bear!

Today’s post has a bit of a different twist to it.  I received an envelope in the mail from my upline, Susan Itell, with a few pieces of card stock and Designer Series Paper along with a note asking to create something with them.  I love challenges, as I really think they inspire as well as stretch your creativity…so I took this as a fun challenge!

Here are the elements I received….a piece of Basic Black card stock, a pattern from Pick a Pattern DSP and a Whisper White square cut from the Stitched Shapes framelits.

Stampin Up A Little Wild card - Rosanne Mulhern

…and here is what I came up with.

Stampin Up A Little Wild square card - Rosanne Mulhern

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Whisper White thick card stock cut at 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″.
  • I trimmed the Basic Black card stock down to 4 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ and popped it on the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The pattern from Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper is trimmed to 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″ and glued directly to the Basic Black card stock.

  • Using A Little Wild stamp set and the coordinating Little Loves framelits, I stamped the bear, bees, honeycomb and sentiment in Basic Black Archival ink and colored them using Stampin’ Write Markers.

  • The sentiment is stamped directly on the stitched square, which is popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the card.
  • The honeycomb and bear are popped with Dimensionals, while the cute little bees are glued using Tombow.

  • A little more stamping and coloring on the inside adds a touch of whimsy but still leaves room for a personal note.

Susan opened this challenge up to her entire downline.  It will be fun to see what the others on the team have created.

Thanks for stopping in today and I hope you have a great day!

Take care,

Rosanne

Stampin Up Clean & Classic Sympathy Card - Rosanne Mulhern

Happy Monday…I hope you had a nice weekend.  Even though it was officially the last weekend of summer, I think most of us have already moved onto fall.  I know that I have, especially with card making.  The Holiday Catalog has such great stamps sets, bundles and embellishments for the fall holidays.  I try not to rush the seasons too much, so I’ll be taking some time to create for this season and it’s holidays before moving onto Christmas.  This way I feel that I get the most value from the seasonal sets I purchase.  How about you…is fall a big card making incentive for you or do you like to dive into the Christmas season as soon as possible?

For the focal point on today’s card, I pulled a set that came out in last year’s holiday catalog and was carried over in the annual catalog…Paisleys & Posies.  When this set came out, it was a huge hit and then like most things, got pushed aside for newer products.  I think it’s a great set and has a lot of staying power for cards for any occasion.

Here’s the details:

  • The card base is Chocolate Chip card stock with a mat of a pattern from the Painted Autumn Designer Series paper collection.

  • I used a retired corner rounder punch on the bottom of both.
  • Next I cut a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock at 4 1/8″ x 2 1/4″ and another pattern from Painted Autumn DSP at 4 1/8″ x 2.
  • The scalloped edging was created by lining both pieces together so they are equal on one side and using the scalloped framelit from the Seasonal Layers framelits.

  • The sentiment is stamped with Chocolate Chip in on Very Vanilla card stock and cut with an oval from the Stitched Shapes framelits.
  • Then it’s directly adhered to a scalloped framelit from the Layering Ovals framelits cut in Peek-a-Boo Peach card stock.  Next it’s layered with Stampin’ Dimensionals on another stitched oval cut in Chocolate Chip card stock.
  • The whole medallion is popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the card.  Never underestimate the power of Stampin’ Dimensionals!  The effect they create makes a true difference!
  • The darling little acorns were hand cut from another pattern from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and added again with…Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals!
  • A simple bow made from Linen Thread “ties” it altogether!

  • The sentiment is from the new Painted Harvest stamp set and coordinated so well with the sentiment I used on the front of the card.
  • This is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink, although it looks like Basic Black in this picture.

  • Probably one of the things I like most about this card is the coordinated envelope.  It was created the same way the scallop on the card was made and makes such unique envelope.

I’m entering this card into the SUO Challenge HERE.  The theme is autumn colors.

Thanks very much for stopping by today and I hope you have a good week ahead.

Take care,

Rosanne

Stampin Up A Little Wild Baby Cards - Rosanne Mulhern

I’ve been itching to use A Little Wild stamp set and this challenge gave me a good opportunity.  It’s such an adorable set along with the coordinating Little Loves framelits.  Both are available as a bundle in the Annual Catalog.

  • A piece of Whisper White 1/8″ Sheer Ribbon wrapped around with a delicate little bow adds even more sweetness.
  • The adorable baby elephant is stamped in Black Archival ink and colored with Smoky Slate and Powder Pink ink pads and a blender pen.
  • The little flower is also from A Little Wild stamp set and is hand cut with a pearl attached and also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Lastly, the sentiment is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  I chose this sentiment because of the lovely font.  It’s stamped in Black Archival ink and cut with the Bunch of Banners framelits.

  • The inside sentiment also comes from A Little Wild stamp set, as do the little flowers, which were colored with Stampin’ Write Markers.

  • Because of the odd shape card, I created an envelope using the Envelope Punch Board and decorated the flap with a piece of Fresh Floral Designer Series Paper.

I love how dainty and sweet this card turned out for a sweet baby girl.  You could easily adapt it for a boy by changing the colors and/or the stamp image.  I think I will be back soon with a baby boy card to go with this one.  In the meantime, I’m just enjoying this little baby boy so much….my grandson, Jack!

I hope you’ll hop over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge and check out the rest of the design team’s projects as well as all the wonderful entries.  If you haven’t already, I also hope that you’ll join us with your project.  The boards are a lot of fun and offer so much inspiration.

Take care,

Rosanne

I really like how this card turned out and will be looking for more ways to use the pumpkins and baskets for Fall cards.
