Polka Dots, Butterflies & a Give-Away

Watermarked Photo 2 (2016-01-06-1123)

No challenges associated with this post, however, just a happy set of notecards.  I really had a good time making this set.  Polka dots truly make me happy!  I will need to remember this when I’m having a bad day…just pull out some happy dotted DSP and everything should around…I will let you know if it works!

Since I am waiting on my order from the new Occasions catalog to arrive, I pulled out the polka dotted DSP from the Designer Series Paper Stacks.  The colors are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzazz.  All of these colors also have coordinating 1/4″ cotton ribbon. These are note sized cards using the Whisper White note cards.  The only stamping are the sentiments from the Tin of Cards stamp set.  I use these sentiments all the time.  The envelopes flaps were given a little DSP to complete the set.

After stamping the sentiment on a 2 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ piece of white cardstock, I used a die from the Butterfly Thinlits to cut the butterfly.  Then I gave the butterfly a little bling by adding a few rhinestones for the body.

I would love to share this set .  Please leave a comment and I will randomly choose a winner to send this set to.  They will surely brighten your day!

Thanks so much for checking in on my post today and I wish you a Happy, Polka-Dotted Day!

Congrats – It’s 2016!

Happy New Year!  I love starting a new year. The calendar is brand new and there are so many exciting possibilities to look forward to.  It is sort of like starting the new school year when we were children with new copybooks, pencils, crayons, etc.  Can you tell that I loved school!  There are no resolutions for me.  I just try to do better than I did last year.  So on that note, I am going to try to be a better blog poster!

I am getting this post for the Global Design Project in just under the wire.  The challenge was to case the designer.  Here is Bibi Cameron’s terrific design.

I choose to copy the circle with a sentiment aspect of this beautiful card.

This card came together very quickly.  I was a little disappointed that I did not use the Festive Flower Builder Punch for any Christmas projects.  It just sat on the shelf all season long.  Luckily, it is being carried over to the new Occasions catalog so I am determined to use it more.  It is not very evident in the photo, but I used Shimmery White cardstock just for the flower and the embossed area and it really gives it a beautiful sheen.

The sentiment is from the Cottage Greeting stamp set in the Annual catalog.  I seem to be using these sentiments a lot lately….I love this font!

The inside sentiment is from a set, Suite Sayings, available in the new Occasions catalog.  I have paired the sentiments from these two stamp sets on several cards recently.  They really go together so well.

As always, I spiffed up the envelope too.  To me, this just customizes and completes the project so nicely.

Celebrate YOU

Happy New Year’s Eve eve!  I hope you are still enjoying some holiday time this week.  I have been crafting a little more than usual this week, which is wonderful.  My card today is for two challenges.  I seem to be able to combine these challenges a little easier these days.  It seems to make it more fun, as it stretches your creativity, thus the challenge….right?!

The Pals Paper Arts sketch is a great one and wide open for interpretation.  I was quite pleased to see the challenge at Stamp Ink Paper this week, as I am a bit exhausted with Christmas cards right about now.  So to combine these two challenges was really fun.

Since the new Occasions catalog is just about to launch, I thought I would use one of my favorite sets, Butterfly Basics, from the Annual catalog before all the new sets take away my attention.  The background is the Hardwood stamp inked in Crumb Cake. I did use a new set, Suite Sayings, from the Occasions catalog for the sentiment.

The inside sentiment is from the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  I really like how the fonts coordinate so well with the sentiment on the front of the card, even though they are from different sets.  I am very particular about fonts and sometimes will not buy a certain set if I don’t care for the font despite the images.  These fonts are my favorites!

I really enjoyed making this card and thought it was pretty in Blushing Bride but also wondered how it would look in Wisteria Wonder.  So I made another…….

Holiday Amaryllis

I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are still enjoying it.  There is so much preparation that goes into it, it is a shame it goes so quickly.  However, I must admit that I will be dismantling everything this week so I can start the New Year fresh and clutter-free.  I have been absent from the blog and from stamping in general for a lot of the month…and here is my excuse.

My youngest daughter, Emily was married on December 12th.  She is the first of our daughters to get married and is our baby!  We are very happy for her and her new husband, Mike.  They are both school teachers and met at the high school they taught at.

Now that I am back in the stamping groove, I am participating in two challenges with this card.  I love when that happens!

My card will make a perfect Thank You for all those holiday gifts.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-12-27-1219)The amaryllis stamp is one of my favorites, as amaryllis are one of my very favorite flowers.  Probably because I love growing flowers and this is one that you can grow in the middle of winter.  I am still trying to get them to re-bloom but it has been a bit of a challenge, so I just keep buying new bulbs.  The stamp set is from Wplus9 and has 4 great flower images and 2 sentiments.  The sentiments are from SU’s, One Big Meaning.  This set is a must have for Thank You notes.

The sentiment is embossed in gold on vellum. I altered the sentiment by cutting it in half.  I only wanted the top half for the front of this card.  I used to be wary of doing this but once I did it a couple of times and realized I could still use both parts, it was fine.  This is one of the reasons I purchase clear mount stamps.

Here is the completed project.  Since there is not much room to write a note on the inside with the stamped flower, I will just use the other side.

Thanks so much for stopping in on my project and please stop by again. I welcome any comments or questions.

Enjoy your Sunday,

Rosanne
