It’s time for another installment of CASEing Coast to Coast with Karen Hallam at Karen’s Stamping Habit. Each month, Karen, who lives in CA and I, here in PA, alternate creating a card for the other to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit). We’ve been doing this monthly exercise for a while now and it continues to be fun and challenging. This month, Karen created a beautiful card featuring the Arrange a Wreath bundle from the new Annual Catalog…

I really liked Karen’s color combination and the Designer Series Paper pattern she chose as her background. I think the combination of colors and pattern produced a very pretty and sophisticated birthday card…don’t you?

So, in an effort to show the versatility of this bundle, I created a summery, homespun Hello card…

As soon as I saw the Arrange a Wreath bundle in the 2020-2021 Catalog, I knew it was coming to my craft room. I love wreaths of all kind, especially those I can create myself. Stampin’ Up! has had several wreath stamps and dies throughout the years and I’ve bought every one and kept every one! And now Arrange a Wreath will be added to that collection.

Arrange a Wreath Bundle #154109

Materials & Measurements

Whisper White thick card base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Real Red card stock: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
Whisper White card stock: 5 1/4″ x 4″
Real Red strip: 2 1/4″ x 1″ and 1″ x 1/2″
Basic Black strip: 2 1/4″ x 7/8″ and 7/8″ x 1/2″

Details

Glue the Real Red panel to the Whisper White card base.
Using the Buffalo Check stamp, stamp the Whisper White panel in black ink and adhere to the Real Red panel.
Cut the wreath elements in Pear Pizazz and Whisper White card stock, and layer. Don’t glue this down yet.

On the larger Basic Black card stock strip, stamp the sentiment, from the Good Morning, Magnolia stamp set with Versa Mark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder.
Mat sentiment strip to the Real Red strip.
Mat the smaller Basic Black and Real Red strips.
Position the wreath and before gluing to the card front, then position and glue the sentiment strips on either side of the positioned wreath. You could probably get away with not adding the small strip as it’s hardly visible.
After the sentiment strips are positioned and glued, glue the wreath to the card front.
Stamp five flowers in Real Red ink, cut with the Wreath Builder dies and arrange on left side of the wreath and adhere with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I colored 5 rhinestones with Stampin’ Blends and added them to the flower centers.
Stamp a small butterfly from the Butterfly Gala stamp set, color with Stampin’ Blends and punched with the Butterfly Duet punch. Glue to a flower.

The inside sentiment is from another new stamp set, Fancy Phrases.

Tasteful Touches Birthday Card

Hello…I hope you had an enjoyable weekend. I inked up a new stamp set this weekend. Tasteful Touches is a cling stamp set in the 2020-2021 annual catalog. It’s available as a bundle along with the Tasteful Labels dies (which I didn’t use here but are nonetheless so useful).

I have a lot of measurements to give you for today’s card, so here we go…

Materials & Measurements (from the card base up)

Cinnamon Cider card base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Flowers for Every Season DSP: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Cinnamon Cider card stock: 3 5/8″ x 2 3/4″
Flowers for Every Season DSP: 3 1/2″ x 2 5/8″
Cinnamon Cider card stock: 2 7/8″ x 2 1/2″
Bumble Bee card stock: 2 3/4″ x 2 3/8″
Bumble Bee card stock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside)
Whisper White card stock: 3 3/4″ x 5″ (inside)

Details

Glue the floral DSP and the Bumble Bee card stock to the coordinating Cinnamon Cider mat.
Stamp the sentiment, from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set, in Versa Mark and heat emboss with white embossing powder.
Glue each mat as shown. Do not glue the larger piece of DSP to the card base yet.
Wrap a piece of 1/4″ Cinnamon Cider ribbon around the card front and secure.
Glue the card front to the card base.

Stamp the floral image from the Tasteful Touches stamp set twice in Bumble Bee ink and hand cut.
Lightly color the flowers using Stampin’ Blends: Daffodil Delight Light, Cinnamon Cider Light.
I brushed the flowers with Clear Wink of Stella. But honestly, it didn’t make that much difference, so this is completely optional.
Adhere the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals
Add three Cinnamon Cider enamel dots to the upper right corner.

The inside sentiment is from the Timeless Tropical stamp set and is stamped in Cinnamon Cider ink.
A strip of DSP and Cinnamon Cider card stock create a pretty border along the bottom.
I coordinated the side of the envelope using the same DSP and card stock. This is a pretty way to decorate the envelope with using scraps. It’s always a bonus to use up those small pieces of DSP!

This is one of my favorite card layouts as I really like how you can take advantage of the coordinated DSP patterns to easily come up with a pretty card. I didn’t even mind all the cutting!!!

Celebrate Sunflowers Card Winner

The randomly selected winner of the Celebrate Sunflowers Thank You card I posted on Wednesday is Kevin Boyer. Congrats, Kevin! Creating the diagonal background was very easy and created a striking backdrop for the sunflower images. The color combinations are endless and it’s also a great alternative to Designer Series Paper. While I do love Designer Series Paper, I’m finding myself creating more of my own backgrounds like this one or with stamps and ink. Isn’t that what’s so great about stamping…all the creative possibilities?

Celebrate Sunflowers Thank You Card Give-away

I was so happy to see the Celebrate Sunflowers stamps and dies in the new Annual Catalog. Sunflowers are so cheerful and rank right up there with daisies for me. The images and dies in this bundle are big, bold and beautiful.

For today’s card, I used the smaller of the two flower images along with a sentiment from the bundle to create a thank you card. I wanted a geometric-like black & white background but didn’t have a pattern of designer series paper that fit the bill, so I created my own background using 1/4″ and 1/8″ strips of Basic Black card stock placed diagonally on a piece of Whisper White card stock.

Materials & Measurements

Bumble Bee card stock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Basic Black card stock: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
Whisper White card stock: 5 1/4″ x 4″
Basic Black card stock strips: 1/4″ & 1/8″

Details

Glue Basic Black card stock to the Bumble Bee card base.
Align the sentiment diagonally in the center toward the bottom of the Whisper White panel. I used the Stamparatus for this.
Stamp the sentiment in black ink.
Add a 1/4″ strip of Basic Black card stock to either side of sentiment. Then alternate the 1/8″ and 1/4″ strips to complete the card front, spacing evenly. I cut the strips about 8″ long and trimmed them after gluing to the card stock.
Once trimmed, glue the Whisper White panel to the card.
Stamp and heat emboss 3 sunflowers and die cut using the Sunflower Dies.
Color with Stampin’ Blends.
Glue each flower to a piece of Basic Black card stock and cut a border around each.
Arrange the flowers and adhere them to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The inside is stamped with a sunflower and sentiment from the Ornate Thanks stamp set.
A thin strip of Basic Black card stock and 2020-2022 In-Color (Bumble Bee) 6 x 6 DSP is a simple way to embellish the inside.
The envelope is also embellished with card stock and DSP.

After I created this card, I thought that perhaps I should have made the background 2 colors. So I created another card using 1/4″ strips of Basic Black and 1/8″ strips of Bumble Bee card stock. I like it well enough but ultimately decided I preferred just the Basic Black version.
