Special Occasion Gift Card Holders – Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! While the COVID 19 pandemic is adding stress to our lives, we Pals hope this blog hop will help to lift your spirits. Let us inspire you to take a creative break and relax for a little while. This month our theme is “Special Occasions” where we have made a project for just about any occasion you can think of! You’ll find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Special Occasion Gift Card Holder Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern stampin up

Today I’m sharing some pretty gift card holders for several different occasions.  I had such a good time combing through my stamps and supplies to come up with just the right sentiments and embellishments for each one.  I pulled from a lot of different stamp sets and dies to create this pretty trio. While each card is different, they all have a few things in common.

  • I used the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper on each of them.  The floral images in this 6 x 6 paper collection are simply beautiful.
  • The pretty scalloped trim on each front flap is from the Ornate Border dies.
  • On the inside, I used a small Stitched Rectangle to cut the opening for the gift card.

Here’s a look at each one….

Obviously, the occasion here is a birthday.  I used the Label Me Pretty stamp set and heat embossed the image in white embossing powder, then punched it with the coordinating Pretty Label punch.  The small flowers are from the Bouquet Bunch dies.

The inside sentiment is from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set and is stamped in Lovely Lipstick ink.

For a special Thank You, the sentiment from the So Sentimental stamp set worked well.  It’s stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink and cut using the coordinating Stitched So Sweetly dies.  The flower is stamped using the Beautiful Friendship stamp set in Gorgeous Grape ink and hand cut.

I reached for the Painted Harvest stamp set for the inside sentiment here.  Again, it’s stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink.

I chose this one as a Mother’s Day card.  I thought the sentiment, from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set was perfect.  It’s stamped in Melon Mambo ink and cut out with the Layering Oval dies.  The flowers were also stamped from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and cut with the coordinating Bouquet Bunch dies.

The inside sentiment is from the Tea Together stamp set. This one is my favorite.  I created this to send to my daughter, Emily, for Mother’s Day.  I’m hoping I’ll be able to spend some time with her that day but I guess that’s still uncertain.  So I wanted something especially pretty to give her with a gift card.

I’ll be posting another gift card holder tomorrow using the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper.  I’ll also have a tutorial offer for these cards.  You can see those HERE.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Life is Better with a Touch of Gold

Stampin Up Ornate Garden with Colorful Seasons Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Good Monday to you!  As we are hunkered down for another week of staying home and hopefully safe, I’m so thankful for a lot of things and stamping is among them.  I’ve been kept busy these past few weeks doing something I absolutely love and enjoy.  I’ve also been doing a little cross-stitching as well as a lot of reading. Also walking so I don’t miss the beautiful spring outside.  I hope you’re finding lots to do as well.  Let me know in the comments below what your doing to keep busy and your mind on better things.

My card today is another result of playing with the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper.  I usually have a problem using all the DSP in a collection.  However, I’ve already opened my second pack of this one.

Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper #152488 $15.00

Materials & Measurements

  • Whisper White Thick card stock:  cut at 4 1/4″ x 11, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Gold Foil: cut at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • DSP panel: cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Whisper White banner: cut at 2 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
  • Gold Foil for banner
  • Whisper White & Gold Foil scraps for daisies

Details

  • Adhere the gold foil and DSP panels directly to the card base creating 1/8″ margins for each.
  • Using the Ornate Layers Dies, cut the scalloped banner from gold foil.
  • Special Note: I cut the banner from the center of the gold foil panel to save a little paper.  It’s not evident, once the DSP is glued over it.
  • On the Whisper White banner piece, stamp the sentiment which is from the  Colorful Seasons stamp set in Versa Mark ink and heat emboss with gold embossing powder.
  • Affix this to the gold scalloped banner and glue to the top center of the card.Stampin Up Ornate Garden with Colorful Seasons Card Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup
  • Stamp 3 small daisies from Daisy Lane stamp set in Versa Mark ink and heat emboss them in gold embossing powder.  Punch with the medium daisy punch.
  • Punch an additional 3 daisies from gold foil and 3 from Whisper White card stock.  Layer to create each flower.
  • Add the flowers to the bottom of the banner with dimensionals.

  • I kept the inside very simple and just stamp another daisy and heat embossed it on Whisper White card stock.
  • It’s matted on a piece of gold foil.  I cut another scalloped banner from this piece also to use on another project.

This card could be used for many different occasions: wedding, anniversary, birthday, thinking of you, thank you and more.  Just pick an appropriate sentiment for the inside or write your own personal note.  I think it’s good to have a few of these types of cards on hand.

You can find more inspiration HERE using the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper along with a tutorial offer for pretty Gift Card Holders that are perfect for any occasion.

Once again, I thank you for spending some time with me today and hope you have a good day.  I’m going to try to reflect on the fact that it’s Holy Week and despite the fact that it certainly won’t be like any other Easter, there’s still much to be thankful for and rejoice in.

Please take care of yourself and those you love,

Rosanne

Peek of Petal Pink with Ornate Garden

Hello…it’s Saturday but then again every day this week felt like Saturday! I hope you are doing well. We’ve been doing our part by staying home.  Fortunately, my husband and I enjoy walking so that’s been our outdoor activity at least twice a day.  We also have an ongoing scrabble game with a $$ prize that usually lasts a few days at a time.  And we developed the perfect amount of togetherness and alone time for our hobbies.  So needless to say, I’ve been spending a lot of time in the craft room!

My card today features a pattern from the new Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper.  Here, have a look…

Petal Pink Peek with Ornate Garden Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinupWith so many pretty patterns in this paper collection, it’s hard to pick a favorite.  But this pretty floral with a touch of gold metallic is at the top of my list.

Materials & Measurements

  • Whisper White thick card base:  cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Petal Pink card stock layer: cut at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Whisper White card stock rectangular panel: see explanation below
  • Petal Pink card stock (inside panel): cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Whisper White card stock (inside panel): cut at 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Subtle DSP & Petal Pink card stock scraps (for inside panel and envelope)

Details

  • After preparing all the cuts mentioned above, I cut 3 stitched squares from Gold Foil using the Stitched Shapes dies.
  • Using a square die a little smaller than the stitched one from the Layering Squares dies, I then cut 3 squares from the DSP.
  • I colored random corner flowers on the DSP squares using the Dark Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend before adhering it to the stitched gold foil square.
  • Then I glued the gold foil to the rectangular Whisper White panel, which was then glued to the Petal Pink mat. Instead of trying to measure the rectangular panel, I simply glued the squares leaving to a piece of Whisper White card stock and trimmed around them, leaving a very thin border.  I know this is not very precise but it worked for me.

Petal Pink Peek with Ornate Garden Card Idea- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • Using the Stamparatus, I positioned the sentiment, which is from Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.
  • I wrapped a piece of retired gold baker’s twine around the card twice and tied the bow.
  • Lastly, this panel was adhered to the card base with a piece of fun foam for added dimension .

  • Keeping the inside simple, I stamped the sentiment, also from Good Morning, Magnolia with Early Espresso ink and added a strip from the 6 x 6 Subtle DSP.

Saying Hello to Ornate Garden

Hello…happy Wednesday (I hope)!  The days are just all running into each other for me in this new normal we’re now experiencing. However, with all the uncertainty and risk that healthcare workers and all others who are still out there doing their jobs are facing, there is no room in my life for complaints.  I’m keeping them all in my daily prayers while trying to keep a positive attitude and staying safely at home.

On a lighter note…I’m excited to share that the new Ornate Garden Suite of products is now available.  These products are being released early and will be carried in the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. I’ve been creating with them for about a week and I must say that I’m having a hard time stopping.  Take a look at the video for a glimpse of all the stamping goodness this suite has to offer…

…and here is one of the cards I came up with using a few of the products from the Ornate Garden suite.

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Thinking of You Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

As soon as I saw that the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper featured daisies, I was one happy stamper!  I’m offering a free sample pack of this pretty paper as part of my monthly rewards for April.  You can see all the details at the end of the post.

Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper #152488 $15.00

Daisies just make me smile! I absolutely love the Daisy and Medium Daisy punches. They make creating these darling flowers just so easy.  I’ve used both many times and was very pleased to take them out again.

Materials & Measurements

  • Card Base:  Whisper White Thick Card Stock cut at 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • DSP:  cut at 5 3/8″ x 1 1/2″
  • Old Olive Card Stock:  cut at 5 3/8″ x 1″ and 5 3/8″ x 2″
  • Whisper White Card Stock: cut at 5 3/8″ x 7/8″ and 5 3/8″ x 1 7/8″
  • Old Olive Card Stock:  cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″ (for inside)
  • Whisper White Card Stock: cut at 5″ x 3 3/4″ (for inside)

Details

  • Adhere the DSP panel about 1/16″ from the card base top and bottom and about 3/4″ in from the left side of the card base.
  • Emboss the two Whisper White panels with the Subtle Embossing Folder and glue to the Old Olive panels leaving a 1/16″ border on either side.
  • Cut two Whisper White borders from the Ornate Borders dies and glue to the Old Olive panels.
  • Using Foam Adhesive Strips, adhere both panels leaving a thin, even border.around the card base as this creates a pretty 3D effect around the DSP.

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Thinking of You Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • Punch 6 daisies from the Medium Daisy punch in Whisper White card stock.  I embossed 4 of them with the Subtle Embossing Folder.  I really liked the interesting texture it gave them.
  • The leaves, from the Floral Essence stamp set, are stamped in Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive ink and punch with the Leaf Punch.
  • The Daisy centers were punch from the retired Owl Punch but you can use any small circle punch in Crushed Curry and Early Espresso card stock.
  • The flower on the right is glued directly to the card.  The one on the left is adhered with a dimensional.

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Thinking of You Card Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • The sentiment is from the Timeless Tropical stamp set and punched with the Classic Label punch.  This little punch is great for small sentiments.
  • The sentiment strip is adhered with a couple of mini dimensionals.

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Thinking of You Card Idea- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • The inside sentiment, from the Honey Bee stamp set, is stamped in Early Espresso ink
  • As always, I love to coordinate the inside of the card and envelope.

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Thinking of You Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Pairing the daisies with just a strip of the Garden Ornate Designer Series Paper doesn’t overwhelm them while still giving the card a pretty clean look.

Like I said, another thing to love about this beautiful collection is that it will be in the new Annual Catalog, so we’ll have plenty of time to enjoy it!  To see all the products featured in the Ornate Garden Suite, click HERE
