Today’s project was a result of several things. Firstly, the retirement list will be coming out this week and I know that all the Designer Series Paper will be retiring soon and I wanted to use up some of what I have.Not to mention that the Bird Ballad DSP is one of my favorites. Secondly, I find fussy cutting extremely relaxing. And finding that I needed some relaxation recently given our circumstances, I started cutting some of the images from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper and I couldn’t stop! So I found myself with so many flowers and birds that I just had to create a project. And lastly, I wanted to make something to give to a few special people to let them know how special they are to me. Here’s what I came up with…

Materials & Measurements

Card

Whisper White Thick cardstock: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4
Cardstock Layer: 5 3/8″ x 4″
Whisper White cardstock: largest Stitched Rectangle die

Pizza Box

Top: colored cardstock 3 1/4″ x 3 1/4″, Whisper White cardstock 3″ x 3″
Sides: colored cardstock 3/4″ x 3 1/4″ (cut 4) Whisper White cardstock 1/2″x3″ (cut 4)
Inside Tray: 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 1/2″ all around

Details

Glue the Whisper White Stitched to the colored cardstock.
Stamp the sentiment from the Free as a Bird stamp set with Early Espresso ink in the right corner. The Stamparatus makes this easy to line up and insure a clear image.
Adhere this to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used a variety of dies and the Ornate Floral embossing folder to create the center focal point. All the dies used are listed in the Product List at the end of this post.
I arranged the images that were fussy cut from the Bird Ballad DSP.

The inside sentiment is also from the Free as a Bird stamp set.
I added a small piece of color coordinated 6 x 6 DSP to the bottom, along with a small flower.

I created a tray to hold six snack sized Hershey bars. The tray allowed me to wrap a bow around them and it fit nicely inside the Pizza Box.

To coordinate the envelope, the flap is embossed with the Ornate Floral embossing folder.

These little gifts were great fun to make and I hope will spread some cheer, which I think we all really need during these uncertain times.

Ornate Style Floral Friendship Card

Happy(finally) Friday…the first week of a new distance learning curriculum at school just finished up and it feels like it lasted three weeks. Our schools in PA are closed for the remainder of the school year, so our students are continuing to learn online. We even have a virtual recess! I’m really looking forward to spending the weekend in the craft room.

I created today’s card earlier this week using the beautiful floral image from the Ornate Style stamp set. If you’ve been following me for a while, you may have noticed that I’m particularly partial to flowers and this one really excited me. There is so much you could do with it. You can see another card I created with it HERE. I’m also looking forward to coloring it.

Materials & Measurements

Very Vanilla Thick cardstock: 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″
Gold Foil Sheet: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Ornate Garden DSP: 3 3/4″ x 5″
Old Olive cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″ (inside)
Very Vanilla cardstock: 5″ x 3 3/4″ (inside)

Details

Cut a scalloped oval from the Layering Ovals dies from the center of the Gold Foil sheet. Set aside. This is a great way to say paper, especially specialty paper.
Glue the DSP panel to the Gold Foil, leaving a 1/8″ margin on either side.
Wrap a piece of Old Olive ribbon, from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo around the card as pictured. Adhere a small bow using a mini glue dot.
Glue this panel directly to the card base.
Stamp the floral image from the Ornate Style stamp set with Versa Mark ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and heat emboss with gold embossing powder.
Using another oval from the Layering Ovals dies, cut the image. You can position the oval die any number of ways to get the partial image you like.
Adhere the embossed oval to the gold foil scalloped oval. Pop onto the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The sentiment, from the Ornate Thanks stamp set, is also heat embossed in gold and punched using the Classic Label punch. I added another label punched in gold foil. This is also popped with dimensionals.
Add a Gilded Gem for a pretty finishing touch.

The Very Vanilla panel is embellished with 1/4″ strips of DSP and glued to the Old Olive panel before gluing to the inside of the card
Another DSP and gold foil strip create a coordinated envelope.

Forever Blossoms Z-Fold for Coast to Coast CASEing

Welcome to the April edition of Coast to Coast CASEing. This month Karen did a fabulous job with her card. Not only is it a beautiful card but it’s also a fun fold. Check out Karen Hallam’s post HERE

For my card, I decided to CASE (Copy And Selectively Edit) the Z-fold. I’m guilty of not doing enough fun fold cards. This one was a lot of fun, so I really need to try more.

Materials & Measurements

Whisper White card base: 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 2 3/4″ & 5 1/2″
Blushing Bride cardstock: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″, 2 5/8″ x 4 1/8″ (cut 2)
Parisian Blossoms DSP: 5 1/4″ x 4″, 2 1/2″ x 4″
Whisper White cardstock: 2 1/2″ x 4″

Details

Cut and score Whisper White cardstock.
Adhere Blushing Bride cardstock to each panel.
Adhere DSP to the first and third panels.

Using the Forever Blossoms stamp set, stamp the floral spray 3x and color using Stampin’ Blends.
Adhere the spray to the first panel. I cut the second spray and added a few blooms to the spray. Then I cut just the flowers from the third spray and added them over the top of the glued flowers to create dimensional flowers.
Clear Wink of Stella and a small pearl were added to each flower.
The second panel is stamped with a sentiment from the Forever Blossoms stamp set.
A strip of DSP and cardstock is added to the bottom.

The third panel is embellished with another colored floral spray.
The sentiment, also from the Forever Blossoms stamp set, is stamped in Versa Mark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. It’s cut with a die from the Oval Layering dies. I layered it with another Oval cut from Vellum and popped it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added a trio of pearls to the upper right corner for a pretty finishing touch.

A pretty embellished envelope completes the project.

Ornate (Country) Style Mother’s Day Card

Hello…I hope you had a pleasant Easter. Ours was certainly an unusual one. My husband and I did our grocery shopping at 6 a.m. Honestly, since we’re under a mandatory stay-at-home order here in PA, grocery shopping is about the only time we leave our neighborhood. And we’re fortunate that it’s about the most stressful thing we have to deal with, unlike many others who are facing much more difficult circumstances. Well, I’m also lucky to have a wonderful stress-reliever in stamping and I know that’s why you’re here, so here’s my card for today…

Materials & Measurements

Crumb Cake card base: 81/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
Rococo Rose cardstock: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
In-Color 2019-2021 DSP: 2″ x 5 3/8″
Rococo Rose cardstock: 4 x 5 1/4″ (inside)
Whisper White cardstock: 3 3/4″ x 5 (inside)
DSP & cardstock scraps for embellishing inside

Details

Glue the Gingham DSP panel to the left side of the Rococo Rose cardstock.
Stamp the sentiment, from the Honey Bee stamp set, in the lower right corner of the Rococo Rose panel with Versa Mark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder. The stamparatus comes in very handy for this, both for accurate placement and to ensure good coverage of the Versa Mark.
Wrap a piece of 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon to cover the seam created by the DSP.

Stamp the floral image from the Ornate Style stamp set on Crumb Cake cardstock with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.
Hand cut the image. It’s not hard at all! Adhere to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Stamp a small butterfly using the Butterfly Gala stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and Rococo Rose ink. Punch it with the Butterfly Duet punch and adhere to the floral image with a mini glue dot.
A few Glitter Enamel Dots (retired) are scattered on the card.

For the inside, I combined two stamp sets, Beautiful Bouquet and Tea Together, to create a Mother’s Day greeting.

Even though my husband and I no longer have our moms with us, I do enjoy sending Mother’s Day cards to friends. It’s certainly a day worth celebrating and worthy of a handmade card!
