May’s Free Gift: Wild Rose Notebooks

Happy Monday…I hope you enjoyed a relaxing weekend. I know a lot of states are starting to open and ease their restrictions but here in PA we are still in a stay at home order. I’m actually getting used to it and now that we’ve been having some beautiful spring weather, it doesn’t seem so bad. I’m looking forward to spending more time outside and I hope you are too!

Today I sharing some pretty notebooks I created using the To a Wild Rose Bundle. This bundle is my featured set of the month for May. I’ve been having a good time creating projects and tutorials to share. I’ll be sending one of these notebooks with every order this month as a thank you gift.

I purchased the notebooks on Amazon (where else?!).
The sentiment is from the Flourishing Phrases (retiring) stamp set and is heat embossed with black embossing powder.
The die cut is from the Flourishes dies.
This stamp set is a multi-step stamp. There are three stamps that create the colored image. For these notebooks, I stamped each flower in a light and dark color ink then stamped the outline in Versa Mark and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. The Stamparatus made this process fast and easy. I hardly ever complete a project without using this tool.
The leaves were stamped with one color, Pear Pizzazz, outlined in Versa Mark and heat embossed.

It was fun to create something other than a card and something that’s not only pretty but super useful. Keep these in your purse, on your desk or just about anywhere you’ll need to take a note. They’ll look so pretty wherever you decide to put them.

Happy Saturday stamping friends! It’s such a beautiful day here in PA. It’s almost like the calendar turned to May and the weather decided to totally cooperate. May has always been my favorite month and this year it’s especially welcomed. We spent the day cleaning and setting up the porch and cleaning out the flower beds. Next on my list is to visit my favorite nursery for flowers. I hope to do that sometime this coming week. In the meantime, I have some pretty paper flowers to share…

It’s a new month and I’m offering a new set of free monthly tutorials. This month I’ve created 3 tutorials featuring the To a Wild Rose bundle. This bundle is featured in the current annual catalog and will be carried over in the 2020-2021 catalog. Currently, it’s available at a 10% savings. However, it will not be available at the bundled price in the new catalog.

Materials & Measurements

Card Base: Whisper White Thick cardstock – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
2019-2021 6×6 DSP: Purple Posy – 2 1/4″ x 5 3/8″
Purple Posy cardstock – 2″ x 5 3/8″
Copper Foil – 1/4″ x 5 3/8″ strip

Details

Glue the DSP panel to the left side of the card, leaving a 1/8″ margin on the side, top and bottom.
Next do the same with the Purple Posy cardstock. This will overlap the DSP a little.
Glue the copper foil strip to cover the seam.
Stamp the sentiment on the bottom of the cardstock with Versa Mark and heat embossed with copper embossing powder. Note: You could also do this step before you glue the cardstock to the card base. I always use the Stamparatus to line up sentiments.

The flowers and leaves are stamped in Versa Mark on Whisper White cardstock and heat embossed with copper embossing powder. I love the look of copper embossing. This is a retiring product and one I’ll miss.
I sponged the flowers with Highland Heather ink and the leaves with Pear Pizzazz ink. Sponging is fast and easy and a very forgiving way to color.
Using the coordinating Wild Rose dies, I cut out the flowers and leaves and popped them on the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The inside sentiment is from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set and is stamped with Highland Heather ink.
A strip of DSP, copper foil and colored cardstock simply embellishes the inside. I also like to coordinate the envelope much like the inside.

I created a matching journal to go along with the card.

I purchased a few different sized kraft notebooks from Amazon. This one measure 5 3/4″ x 4 1/4″.
The sentiment on the front cover is from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set (also retiring) and is heat embossed with copper embossing powder.
The cover is decorated much like the card.

I’ll be sending this set off to a special young woman who is about to embark on the next exciting chapter of her life. I really enjoy making and giving little gifts like these. They may not cost much but are created with a lot of thought and love.

Hello all! Today I created a bunch of sweet little note cards that I know will make those I’m sending these to just smile. Let me explain why…I work in an elementary school library and before I joined the school library, I worked in several public libraries. Needless to say, I truly love libraries and have many friends who are fellow librarians. They, along with fellow stampers, of course, are MY PEOPLE! So I’ll be sending these to all my friends who, like me, are missing their libraries right now. And the Check You Out stamp set could not be more perfect. I love this little set but sadly it’s going away already. I can understand that it would have a limited appeal but it’s just perfect for me and I’ll be making cute little gifts with it for a long time.

Materials & Measurements

I started with Whisper White Note Cards & Envelopes.
The colored cardstock and DSP layers are each cut using a Rectangle Stitched Die.
The DSP is from the Brights 6 x 6 Collection. I love the gingham pattern in these collections and will miss them when they retire soon. However, there’ll be 4 new patterns to look forward to. The color combinations I used here are: Coastal Cabana/Flirty Flamingo and Granny Apple Green/Flirty Flamingo
Post-It Note: Cardstock – 6 1/2″ x 3 1/8″, scored at 3″ & 3 1/2″
Top of Post-It Note: Colored Cardstock – 2 7/8″ x 3″, DSP – 2 3/4″ x 2 7/8″

Details

I stamped the images and since this set doesn’t have coordinating dies, I fussy cut everything.
Everything is glued directly to the card, except the smart looking owl, who is popped with dimensionals.

I had really small paper clips that were from a long retired embellishment collection in my stash and found that they were the perfect size and accent for this card. The lesson here is NEVER get rid of those embellishments as you know you’ll come across a project that they’ll be perfect for!

Since I stamped and cut out a lot of images and had a few left over, I created a cute little matching post-it note holder. The measurements are listed above.
