So Sentimental for Best Dressed DSP

I may have some separation anxiety when the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper retires.  I absolutely love every pattern in this collection and feel like I haven’t even put a dent in it.  I have been using it, however with it being a 6 x 6 package, that’s quite a bit of pretty paper.

For today’s card share, I cased the layout from a sweet get well card I received earlier this year (pre-virus) from my good friend, Jeanie Stark at juststampin.com.  This card also came with the cutest jar of honey candy.  Jeanie is such a thoughtful friend and always has the best gift ideas.  I really liked the card layout and it’s been sitting front and center on my desk for months, as I knew I’d like to give it a go. Here’s Jeanie’s card…

This layout is very versatile and leaves a lot of room for interpretation.  I decided to try it both horizontally and vertically.

Materials & Measurements

  • Colored card stock card base:  5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Whisper White: 4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Best Dressed DSP: 3 7/8″ x 3 1/2″
  • 6 x 6 Color Family DSP: 3 7/8″ x 1 5/8″ (Petal Pink & Purple Posy)
  • Petal Pink card stock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside)
  • Whisper White card stock: 3 3/4″ x 5″ (inside)

The details are much the same for both orientations.  I’ve listed the colors and products in the Product List at the end of the post.  The Thank You card above is horizontal.

  • Adhere Whisper White card stock to the colored card stock base.
  • Glue both DSP patterns onto Whisper White panel leaving a 1/8″ border around
  • Using a die from the Ornate Borders Dies, glue the scalloped border on the seam where the DSP meet.
  • Trim the border with thin strips of colored card stock.
  • Stamped the sentiments from the So Sentimental stamp set and crop with  coordinating dies from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies.
  • Pop each sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I added a few sequins for a little shine.

Stampin Up So Sentimental Get Well Card Idea-Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • The DSP patterns are from the Subtles 6 x 6 DSP in Petal Pink and the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.
  • Card stock colors are Lovely Lipstick, Petal Pink, Whisper White and Old Olive.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Lovely Lipstick ink.

Stampin Up So Sentimental Get Well Cards Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • I trimmed the inside with strips of DSP, card stock and another scalloped border.  I love that we can embellish both the inside and envelopes for a totally coordinated card.  I think it’s also a nice surprise to open the card and see this.
  • I left this card blank to write a personal note.

Stampin Up So Sentimental Get Well Card Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • The Get Well card is the exact same layout and measurements just turned vertically.
  • The DSP patterns are 2019-2021 6 x 6 DSP in Purple Posy and Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.
  • Card stock colors are Purple Posy, Petal Pink and Whisper White.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Highland Heather ink.

  • Again, I trimmed the inside with strips of DSP, card stock and another scalloped border die.
  • The sentiment is from the Dandelion Wishes stamp set and is stamped in black ink.

As I said, I think this is a great card layout and I’m glad I finally put my “spin” on it.  Thanks Jeanie for the inspiration, thoughtful card and most of all wonderful friendship!

The So Sentimental stamp set and Stitched So Sweetly Dies are available now as a bundle for a 10% discount until June 2.  However, they’ll be sold separately in the new annual catalog on June 3.  Sadly, the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper will be retiring and is only available until June 2 or while supplies last.   HERE to see some pretty gift card holders I created using this DSP.

CASEing Coast to Coast Congratulations Card

Welcome to another edition of CASEing Coast to Coast with Karen Hallam at Karen’s Stamping Habit and myself.  Each month, Karen and I alternate creating a project for the other to CASE (copy and selectively edit).  This month it’s my turn to initiate the project.  I created a card with a gift card holder feature on the inside that would fit any number of occasions.

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Congratulations Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

As we eagerly await the new products coming in the Annual Catalog on June 3rd, I thought I would create a card with a few relatively new products that are available now and will also be in the new catalog.  Today’s card features the So Sentimental Bundle that’s available in the January-June mini catalog and two die sets from the early release of the Ornate Garden suite: Ornate Borders and Ornate Layers dies.

Materials & Measurements

  • Whisper White thick cardstock:  10 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ & 8 1/2″
  • Ornate Garden DSP 5 1/2″ x 3 1/8″ (cut 1), 5 1/2″ x 1/4″ (cut 2)
  • Gold Foil strip: 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ (cut 1), 1/8″ x 5 1/2″ (cut 2)
  • Mint Macaron cardstock

Details

  • Fold card up at the 8 1/2″ score line to create an inside pocket.  Using Tear & Tape secure the edges to the inside of the card, leaving enough space to insert a gift card.
  • Cut a Whisper White floral border using a die from the Ornate Borders dies.  This die measures exactly 5 1/2″.  When cutting it, leave about a 1/4″ border on the top.
  • Align the die to the bottom of the card front and glue at the 1/4″ top border.
  • Glue the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper to the rest of the card front, meeting the border.
  • Glue the 1/4″ Gold Foil strip along the bottom of DSP and top of the floral border to conceal where the two meet.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the So Sentimental stamp set in Versa Mark ink and heat emboss with gold embossing powder.
  • Crop with the Stitched So Sweetly die.  Cut an additional die from Gold Foil and trim the edges of the stamped die cut. Pop it on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Congratulations Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • Add strips of DSP and gold foil to the inside pocket.
  • Stamp the sentiment, from Beautiful Friendship stamp set between the borders.  Using the Stamparatus makes this very easy.

  • I created a pretty frame to hold the gift card.
  • The base is a die from the Ornate Layers dies cut with Mint Macaron cardstock.
  • Using two dies from the Stitched Rectangles die, I cut a gold foil frame.
  • The gift card is secured with a glue dot.

I created another very similar card in white and gold using all the same products.  The only difference is I added a piece of gold foil to the bottom of the card.  This usually happens to me and maybe to you too. I set out to create a card and then when I’m finished, I think I should have done this or that.  So I go and create another version.  I like both of these equally well and now I have two cards to add to my stash.  These cards would be great as wedding, bridal shower, anniversary, retirement or graduation cards to name a few.

Now Head WestPlease be sure to head over to Karen’s blog at www.stampinghabit.com to see Karen’s creative twist on today’s card.  Karen and I are really enjoying our monthly adventure and hope that we’re providing you with a bit of inspiration to perhaps put your own spin on our cards.

So Grateful for Ornate Garden

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Thank You Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Last month when the Ornate Garden Suite was released, I loved it all and was excited to start creating with it…and haven’t stopped since.  One of the reasons I really like this suite is that along with the 2 stamp and die sets in the suite, it coordinates wonderfully with the Daisy Lane stamp set,  Daisy and Medium Daisy punches.  That’s a lot of crafting possibility! You can see all the amazing products packed into this suite HERE.

Materials & Measurements

  • Whisper White thick cardstock:  5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Old Olive cardstock: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ & 5 1/4″ x 4″ (inside)
  • Ornate Garden DSP:  5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Whisper White cardstock:  5″ x 3 3/4″ (inside)
  • Early Espresso cardstock: small scrap

Details

  • Glue the DSP to the Old Olive cardstock.
  • Cut a circle using a die from the Layering Circles dies.
  • Wrap a piece of Old Olive ribbon from the Ornate Garden Ribbon Combo around either side of the cut out circle.  Adhere the bow with a mini glue dot.
  • Cut a Whisper White scalloped circle to create a frame and glue around the cut out circle.
  • Glue this panel directly to the card base.
  • Note: You could make this a little easier…and skip cutting the circle through the cardstock and DSP panels.  Wrap the ribbon around the entire panel.  And cut a Whisper White scalloped circle to glue on top of the card. I liked the inlaid look of cutting a circle in the card front but that’s totally optional and the end result will look equally nice.

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Thank You Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • Stamp 2 large daisies and 2 medium daisies from the Daisy Lane stamp set on Crushed Curry cardstock with Crushed Curry ink.
  • Form the flower by layering and offsetting each daisy.  I punched the center from Early Espresso yardstick and embossed it with the Subtles Embossing Folder for a little bit of texture.
  • Adhere the daisy in the center of the circle with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The sentiment, from the Ornate Thanks stamp, is stamped in Soft Suede ink and punched with the Classic Label punch.

  • I combined two more sentiments from the Ornate Thanks stamp set to create the inside sentiment.
  • It only takes a few little strips of Old Olive cardstock and Ornate Garden DSP to go a long way to add a pretty touch to the inside of the card and envelope.  The daisies are just so cheerful!

Stampin Up Ornate Garden Thank You Card Idea- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Like always this time of year in our little stamping world, there’s so much coming and going.  So much to look forward to and so much to be sorry to see go.  I’m happy that Stampin’ Up! released this suite early and that it will be around for the whole next year.  It hasn’t left my desk since it was released!

A Goodbye “Hello” to Gingham

It’s Friday!…does that even make a difference right now?  It still does a bit for me as I’m a day or two closer to our weekly visit with our grandson, Jack.  We visit strictly outside at a distance with no hugs or kisses.  However just watching him laugh and play is truly the highlight of our life, so I’ve no complaints.

I do have a small complaint about the retiring color family 6×6 DSP, though.  I wish it wasn’t retiring!  I loved each and every pattern in this year’s collection, but no more so than the gingham.  It looked great in every single color and I found so many uses for it.  So before it goes in a couple of weeks, I’m going to squeeze out a few more projects.

While the big, bold Magnolia takes center stage on today’s card, I especially like how the Gray Granite gingham background softly compliments it.

Materials & Measurements

  • Gray Granite card base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Basic Black cardstock: 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Petal Pink cardstock: 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
  • Gray Granite DSP: 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Note:  I used the same measurements for the inside substituting Whisper White cardstock for the DSP.

Details

  • After adhering the Basic Black, Petal Pink and DSP panels, wrap a piece of 1/2″ Gray Granite Textured Weave Ribbon around them.
  • Then glue to the Gray Granite card base.

  • The magnolia is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, heat embossed with black embossing powder and colored with Stampin’ Blends:  Petal Pink light & dark, Old Olive light & dark and Mango Melody dark.
  • Since the card has a few layers already, I glued the flower directly to the DSP instead of lifting it with dimensionals.
  • The “hello” is from To A Wild Rose stamp set.  I stamped it in black ink and cut it using the Scan n’ Cut, creating the black mat as well.

I can honestly say that I enjoy creating the inside and envelope of each card as much as I enjoy creating the front.

  • I added strips of DSP and cardstock to the bottom of the Whisper White panel.
  • Then I lined up the simple sentiment using the Stamparatus, keeping in mind where I wanted to place the small flower.
  • The flower is also heat embossed in black embossing powder and colored with Stampin’ Blends.
  • After little embellishing to the side of envelope, I called it a card!

Even though the DSP is retiring, I’m happy that the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and Magnolia Memory Dies will be returning in the new catalog.  Although, they will not be available as a bundle at the 10% savings.  You can still take advantage of the bundle price until June 2nd.

Here are a few more cards using the 6 x 6 gingham DSP…
