Botanical Prints Thank You Card & Pillow Box

Hello, welcome to the Pals Blog Hop! This month our theme is “Goodbye to January-June Mini and 2019-2020 Annual Catalogs and Hello to 2020-2021 Annual Catalog” where the Design Team is showcasing their favorites from the retiring catalogs or products in the new catalog! You’ll find the full line-up below to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Stampin Up Botanical Prints Thank You Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Although many of my favorite sets are retiring, I had no problem deciding which of my favorites to spotlight today.  Botanical Prints Product Medley was at the top of my list!  Everything about this kit spoke to me:  the stamps are pretty, petite florals with simple sentiments, it has coordinating dies, the Designer Series Paper is so versatile with patterns that could be colored if you wished and classic black and white patterns, laser cut paper, ribbon and pretty copper embellishments.  This is one of the best all-inclusive kits I’ve seen and it’s on the retirement list at a deep discount.

For today’s project, I created a Thank You card and coordinating treat/gift card holder using a few more retiring favorites.

Stampin Up Botanical Prints Thank You Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

The retiring Thank You dies are the BIG 3 in my opinion: big, bold and beautiful font.

Details

  • The A2 card base is Basic Black cardstock
  • I randomly stamped a piece of 4″ x 5 1/4″ Whisper White cardstock with the floral image in Smoky Slate ink and colored it with Stampin’ Blends creating my own DSP.
  • To give it a little texture, I embossed it with the Subtles Embossing Folder after coloring it.
  • I then cut a rectangle from the center using the Stitched Rectangle die that measures 4″ x 2 5/8″.
  • The Stitched Rectangle was glued to a piece of Basic Black cardstock measuring 2 3/4″ x 4 1/8″.  Both were glued to the larger piece of Whisper White making sure to line up the images and to cover the area where the rectangle was cut.

Stampin Up Botanical Prints Thank You Card Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • I cut the Thank You once in their respective colors and two more times in Basic Black.  The black die cuts were glued together and the colored die cut was offset just a little to give it an outline and glued.  The added layers give the sentiment a pretty “lift”.

Stampin Up Botanical Prints Thank You Card Idea- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • The inside sentiment comes from the Country Home stamp set, which will be in the new Annual Catalog.

For the coordinating gift card/treat holder, I used the retiring Kraft Pillow Boxes.

  • I created a pouch instead of a box simply by cutting a small oval using a die from the Layering Ovals dies.
  • I built the label by cutting the large lacy label from the Stitched Label dies in Whisper White, then a circle from the Layering Circles die in Basic Black, another circle from the Stitched Labels in colored cardstock, followed by a Whisper White circle from the Stitched Shapes dies.
  • The floral image is popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The sentiment comes from the Varied Vases stamp set, another retiring favorite.  I stamped it in black ink and fussy cut it, along with a mat of Basic Black.  The black mat really emphasizes the sentiment.
  • After filling it, tie a bow around the top with the 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon.

I think this is such a pretty card and a sweet little present that you could make for just about any occasion. The pillow boxes are so pretty and lend themselves to so many creative ways to decorate them.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for June 10th, with our theme “New 2020-2022 In Colors.” We can’t wait to show you the newest In Colors in the Stampin’ Up! color family. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft room.

Thanks for hopping with me today!

Take care,

Rosanne

Blessed Friendship Card

I hope you had a nice weekend and if you celebrated a special Mother or you were the special Mother being celebrated, I hope it was wonderful!  It certainly was different this year, that’s for sure.  I think we have to find a way to continue to celebrate everything and everyone we love despite our challenges right now.  I’m applying that to celebrating my friendships, too.  Today’s card does just that…

To A Wild Rose Friendship Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Each month I offer tutorials highlighting a specific stamp & die bundle.   This month I’m featuring To A Wild Rose stamp set and the coordinating Wild Rose dies.  These are still available as a bundle for a 10% savings, but only until June 2.  After that, they’ll be in the new Annual Catalog but not at the bundled price.  I’m definitely a “floral” person and this set is right up my alley!

Materials & Measurements

  • Petal Pink card base:  4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at  5 1/2″
  • Whisper White cardstock: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • Subtles 6 x 6 DSP (Petal Pink):  2 3/4″ x 4 1/8″
  • Whisper White cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″ (inside)

Details

  • Glue the gingham DSP to the bottom of the Whisper White cardstock.
  • Wrap a piece of 3/8″ linen ribbon, from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack, around the middle of the card to cover the seam of the DSP.
  • I used fun foam to mount this layer to the card base.

To A Wild Rose Friendship Card Idea Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • Stamp the flower on Petal Pink cardstock with Versa Mark ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder.
  • Do the same with the leaves on Soft Sea Foam cardstock.
  • Adhere both with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Stamp the sentiment in black ink and cut.  I used a Scan n Cut for this and matted it on black cardstock.  It could also be fussy cut and matted. I wish there was a die for this sentiment as I really like the font and the size.
  • Lastly, I added a few Clear Epoxy Droplets.

To A Wild Rose Friendship Card Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • Isn’t this sentiment oh so true?!
  • A few strips of DSP and cardstock complete the inside as well as the envelope.  This is such a quick and easy way to “tie it altogether”.

To A Wild Rose Friendship Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

I’m having such a good time creating with To A Wild Rose bundle.  The stamps are so versatile.  It’s a two-step stamp set, so you can create layers of colors using the additional stamps in the set like I did on my notebooks which are my free monthly gift that you can see below.  You can also stamp the outline stamp and color with blends or sponge like I did with this card HERE.  Or you can stamp and heat emboss like I did on today’s card.  I have an idea for another technique, which I’ll share in a post next week…stay tuned!

Thanks for checking in on my card today.  I hope your week is off to a good start!

Retiring to the Tropics

Stampin Up Timeless Tropical Retirement Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Hello! Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all retire to the tropics, if only until our lives returned to some normalcy.  Today’s card was created for a teacher at our school who decided to retire at the end of this school year.  What better set to use than Timeless Tropics for a truly relaxing feel.

Timeless Tropical stamp set #151497

Materials & Measurements

  • Whisper White thick card base: 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Tropical Oasis DSP: 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
  • Pretty Peacock cardstock:  5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Real Red cardstock: 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″
  • Whisper White cardstock: 5″ x 3 3/4″

Details

  • I started this card by using a Pretty Peacock lattice die cut from the Botanical Prints Product Medley glued to the center of the Whisper White card base.
  • To create the DSP frame I cut a rectangle from the Rectangle Stitched dies in the center and glued it over the lattice to the card front.
  • Next I fussy cut the tropical flowers from another pattern in the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper collection and popped them up with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the corners .  The patterns in this collection are bold and vibrant as well as soft and muted.

Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper #151252

  • The sentiment is stamped in Pretty Peacock ink and punched with the Everyday Label punch.
  • I edged the sentiment label with another label in Real Red cardstock and used dimensionals here also.

Stampin Up Timeless Tropical Retirement Card- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • The inside sentiment is from the Well Said stamp set. I really like this set for the simple font and sentiments.
  • I added a few strips of DSP and cardstock to embellish the inside and envelope.

Stampin Up Timeless Tropical Retirement Card -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Like a few of my favorite products from the January-June mini catalog, the Timeless Tropical stamp set and the Tropical Oasis DSP will be retiring on June 2nd.

I hope you are doing well and finding some crafting calm and relaxation even if you’re not retiring.  I was thinking how thankful I am to be able to immerse myself in these stamping projects.  As, I not only benefit from the joy of stamping and creating, I can make cards for all kinds of occasions that pop up without leaving the house.

Honey Bee Thank You

Hi there!  While I’m happy to share my card today, I’m totally admitting that I missed the boat on the Honey Bee bundle.  I only recently purchased it, when I could have had it since January when it came out in the January-June mini catalog.  Why?!  This bundle is so much fun and now it’s retiring…way too soon if you ask me.

Honey Bee Bundle #153792

I’ve been trying to make up for lost time and have been having a great time creating with it now.

Stampin Up Honey Bee Thank You Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

During Sale-a-bration, I earned some free products.  One of which was the coordinating DSP for this set.  It’s beautiful paper and that still didn’t convince me to purchase the set.  Again, why?!  Well, the DSP retired when Sale-a-bration ended so it’s no longer available.  So I created my own DSP based on a pattern in the collection.

Materials & Measurements

  • Whisper White thick cardstock card base – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • Crushed Curry cardstock – 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Basic Black cardstock – 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Whisper White cardstock – 5″ x 3 7/8″

Details

  • Custom-Made DSP…Using the flower stamp in the Honey Bee stamp set, I stamped a random pattern on the smaller Whisper White panel.  I used Momento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with the light Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend.
  • I then glued the patterned paper, Basic Black and Crushed Curry layers together.
  • Before gluing these to the card front, I wrapped a piece of Black Baker’s Twine around twice and added a bow.  I created the bow separately and used a mini glue dot to adhere it. I guess that cheating…a little!

Stampin Up Honey Bee Thank You Card Ideas- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • The banner was created using the Banner Triple Punch.  The white banner measures 1″.  However, I wanted a smaller border than the punch allowed for the black banner.  So I cut a piece of black cardstock to 1 1/4″ wide and aligned it evenly in the punch between the 1″ & 1 1/2″ marks.  This actually gives this punch additional versatility.
  • The sentiment is stamped in black ink.
  • Next I stamped the beehive in Crushed Curry ink and die cut.  This is popped on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • These little bees stole my heart.  I stamped and cut so many of these.  They’re colored with the dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend.  I added Wink of Stella to the wings. I  popped them on the banner and beehive with mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin Up Honey Bee Thank You Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • I combined two sentiments from the (retiring) Daisy Delight stamp set to add to the inside of the card, along with a couple more cute little bees.
  • The envelope is simply embellished with a few more stamped and colored bees…so easy but such a nice finishing touch!

I mentioned that I wished I would have purchased this bundle sooner, as it’s now retiring in less than a month.  But I did earn the coordinating Designer Series Paper during Sale-a-bration.  So I created a few more customer Thank You cards using the same design but the DSP.  I also colored the DSP pattern.  Here you can see them side by side.

Stampin Up Honey Bee Thank You Card Idea- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

I’m offering a FREE sample of 12 (6×6) pieces of the retired Honey Bee Designer Series Paper with the purchase of the Honey Bee stamp set or the Honey Bee bundle.  This is in addition to my other monthly rewards.

I’m trying to revisit some of my favorite retiring stamp sets this month and I’ll definitely get around to the Honey Bees again before the month is over.
