FALLing for Floral Essence

Are you ready for Fall?  This is just about the time that I want the air to be crisp, the mums and pumpkins on my porch and the leaves to be colorful.  However, here in Southeastern PA we are weeks away from that.  Although the mums and pumpkins will show up soon! It seems my card making has also turned to all things autumn.

I’m continuing my infatuation with the Floral Essence stamp set, especially these pretty flowers.  So I chose a fall-like color palette for the flowers on today’s thank you card.

Here’s the Details…

Materials & Measurements

  • Whisper White thick card stock: cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2, score at 4 1/4″
  • Basic Black card stock: cut (2) at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Come to Gather DSP: cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Whisper White card stock: cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″

Assembly

  • Using a die from the Stitched Nested Labels dies, create a window in the center of the Basic Black panel. Chose a size that would fit the sentiment.
  • With the next larger die from the same die set, create another window in the center of the DSP panel.
  • Glue the DSP panel onto the Basic Black layer to create a matted window for the sentiment.
  • Adhere both layers to the Whisper White card base.
  • Stamp the sentiment, from the Seasonal Wreaths stamp set available in the Holiday Catalog, onto the Whisper White card base in the center of the window.

  • The flowers are created by stamping a variety of the large and small flowers from the Floral Essence stamp set.  I used Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Cherry Cobbler and Gorgeous Grape ink.
  •  Layer the flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals to create pretty dimension.
  • The leaves are stamped in Old Olive ink and punched with the Leaf Punch.
  • Arrange the flowers and leaves around the window and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Layer the second piece of Basic Black card stock and the Whisper White card stock to create the inside panel.
  • A flower stamped in Cherry Cobbler gives the inside a pretty touch and leaves plenty of room for a personal note.
  • The envelope flap is embellished with DSP and a strip of Basic Black card stock.

If you follow my blog, you know that I create a lot with flowers.  The Floral Essence stamp set has been one of my favorite sets from the Annual Catalog and one I’ve used quite a bit. You can see a couple other cards, I’ve made with this set HERE and HERE.  And I’m sure there will be more to come from this terrific set.

Mosaic Mood Gift Card Holder

Happy Friday…I’m doing the dance and I hope you are too!  While I’m excited to share some Fall projects, I wanted to share the gift card holder I created for my daughter, Emily’s birthday this past week.

I paired the polka dot background pattern from the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper collection with the flowers that were hand cut from a pattern from the Mosaic Mood DSP.  I was really happy with how they worked so well together.

Here’s the Details

Materials & Measurements

  • Whisper White thick card stock: cut at 8 1/2″ x 11″ and score at 2 3/4″ & 5 1/2″
  • Garden Green card stock:  cut (1) at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and cut (2) at 2 5/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Bird Ballad DSP: cut (1) at 4″ x 5 1/4″ and cut (2) at 2 1/2″ x 4″
  • Whisper White: cut 2 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ (for inside sentiment)

Assembly

  • Fold left hand side of the Whisper White thick card stock to create an inside pocket.
  • Do not glue yet.
  • Affix the Garden Green card stock to the Whisper White thick card base on each panel.
  • Glue DSP to Garden Green card stock.
  • Using the smallest circle die from the Layering Circles framelits, create a notch in the inside panel.  This will allow the gift card to peek out.
  • Glue the pocket along the edge to create the pocket.  I used a strip of Tear & Tape which I cut to 1/8″.

  • The inside sentiment is two stamps from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  I lined both stamps up on the same block.  It’s stamped with Versafine Black Onyx ink.

  • After hand cutting the flowers and butterfly from a pattern included in the Mosaic Mood Designer Series Paper, I popped the images with Stampin’ Dimensionals on the small front panel.
  • The sentiment on the front is from the Meant to Be stamp set.  It’s stamped in Versa Mark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder on Petal Pink card stock.
  • I cut and layered the sentiment on ovals from the Layering Ovals framelits.

  • I embellished the envelope with a strip of DSP and card stock along with another flower cut from the DSP.  This makes such a pretty presentation, especially if you are hand delivering the card.

This is an easy fold to present a gift card whether hand delivering or sending through the mail.  I’ll definitely be using it again.

LOTS OF GOING’S ON….

There’s a lot going on at Stampin’ Up! these days, so I just wanted to pop in to let you know all about them.

Halloween is nearly here! Paper Pumpkin has been busy and thought you might like “a hand” with your frightful festivities, so they designed September’s kit, Bone Appétit, with you in mind.

Do You Subscribe?  I have to admit that I don’t regularly subscribe to Paper Pumpkin. However, it seems like because I don’t, I often miss some really fun kits.  Last month’s kit was fabulous and you guessed it…I missed it…sort of!  I was able to snag a set from a friend after seeing her terrific projects, both the kit projects and her alternates.

So I immediately subscribed because I did not want to miss this one. This kit includes 20 food-safe treat boxes, a unique and exclusive Halloween stamp set, and a spooky, special-edition box. September’s kit also gives new meaning to the word “handmade.” (Cue the scary laughter!). I can’t wait to receive this month’s kit and start scaring up some FUN projects.

Click HERE to subscribe by September 10 to get in on the fun.

I was so happy to see this promotion.  I have resolved to only buy the paper that I really love.  Well that was all well and good until I started to see some fabulous projects made with some of the paper I didn’t buy.  Now I’ll buy what I thought I didn’t need but must have!

Come to Gather All Occasion Card

Happy Holiday Catalog Day!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!  The 2019 Holiday Catalog is live and ready to be enjoyed! I’ve been creating with some of the new products and I’m excited to start sharing them with you. This catalog is always the one I look forward to the most, because I love creating for the Fall and Winter holidays. I actually love creating anytime of the year but mostly especially NOW.  Hopefully, now that the catalog is live and you can order from it, some of my projects will inspire you.

I’m starting off with some Fall projects and will gradually make my way to Christmas.  Or who knows, I’ll probably sneak a few Christmas ones in there soon, too.  I’m also going to be offering FREE tutorials using a selected bundle each month for the duration of the holiday catalog (September thru December).  You can read more about this below.

I chose to start with the Come to Gather Suite.  This set actually took me by surprise.  At first glance, I thought it was just well…ok.  That was until I decided to order it and started playing with it.  I AM HOOKED! If I wasn’t in the mood for Fall, I certainly am now!

The Gather Together stamp set and coordinating Gathered Leaves Dies come in a Bundle for a 10% savings.  I used the dies on this card. Look at the lovely embossing on these leaf dies.  I could not get enough of them, and cut out so many in all different colors, which you’ll be seeing in future projects.

For today’s card, I took my cue from a pattern in the Come to Gather Designer Series Paper collection for the color palette.  I love that it’s a non-traditional Fall color combination but that it’s also so soft and pretty.

Here’s the Details….

Materials & Measurements

  • Card Base:  Soft Sea Foam card stock cut at 81/2″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″ for a top fold
  • Whisper White panel: 3rd largest rectangle from the Rectangle Stitched dies
  • DSP panel: 4th largest rectangle from the Rectangle Stitched dies
  • Banner: Soft Sea Foam cut 1/2″ x 4″ and flagged on each end

Assembly

  • Attach the Whisper White Stitched Rectangle to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Glue the DSP panel directly to the white rectangle
  • Stamp your desired sentiment on the left side of the banner and glue to the DSP panel
  • Cut a variety of leaves from the Gathered Leaves dies from Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron and Pear Pizzazz card stock.
  • Brush leaves with a Clear Wink of Stella brush (optional)
  • Adhere leaves in a cluster with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Tie a bow with white Baker’s Twine and affix with a mini glue dot
  • Embellish with a few rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels also available in the Holiday Catalog.

  • I kept the inside of this card blank for now as I’ll be sending it to a dear friend who is going through some hard challenges and I’m not sure exactly what sentiment I’ll use.  This is the type of card that’s versatile enough to use for so many occasions.
  • The envelope flap gets a pretty treatment with some Designer Series Paper.  Always a quick and easy way to give a hint of the beauty inside!

If you’ve been inspired by my card and more importantly, the Come to Gather suite of products, I will be sending out 3 free tutorials all this month featuring this suite for any order of $40 or more (after tax and shipping).  Each tutorial will include full color photos and clear step by step instructions for creating 3 very different cards using these products.  These tutorials will not appear on the blog and will only be available to those who place an order.  Along with the tutorials, I will be sending another completed card created with the Come to Gather Suite of products for you to keep or send.
