Lovely, Amazing Polka Dots

Hi there…today my card share combines so many elements that I love….polka dots, navy blue, flowers and pearls….

The colors are one of the aspects of this card that I really like.  These colors were inspired by the Pals Paper Arts color challenge this week.

PPA-289-Feb25

For some reason when I see navy blue, I think of polka-dots.  So I reached for the Regals Designer Series Paper Stack and chose the dotted pattern in Night of Navy.  I placed that on top of Night of Navy cardstock for the card.

The sentiment, stamped in Night of Navy ink, is from the Lovely Amazing You stamp set.  I cut the sentiment out using the Circles Collection Framelits.  Then cut a frame to surround it.  The flowers, from the Petite Petals stamp set, are stamped in Night of Navy also and then colored in Blushing Bride ink using a blender pen. They were punched using the Petite Petals punch.  The center of the flowers are made with the Blushing Bride Sequins Trim and Pearls.  They are really quite striking but do not translate well in this photo.  The leaves are punched using the Bird Builder punch in Old Olive cardstock.

The inside is embellished a bit, as well as the envelope flap.

This card is perfect for many occasions and any number of sentiments could be added to suit the occasion.  Or it could be left blank for a personal note.

I hope you enjoyed this sweet note made with such fresh colors.  Thanks very much for stopping by and I hope you come back again soon.

A Birthday Butterfly

Hi there….hope your day is going well.  We are recovering from some scary storms that passed through last night but luckily we did not have any damage…just a lot of thunder, lightning and rain.  At least it wasn’t snow!

Today’s card is for the Global Design Project’s Case the Designer challenge.  Michelle’s card was a fun one to case and left so many possibilities……

GDP024

I really loved the little shaker feature on the butterfly.  I haven’t made a shaker card yet but it is definitely on my list to try as there are so many awesome examples out there.  So, sadly, my butterfly is not a shaker…yet!

Watermarked Photo 7 (2016-02-24-0938)

After I decided to case the butterfly, I needed to determine my colors.  I turned to my DSP collection to find a pattern that was bold but not too busy as I wanted the butterfly to be the focal point of the card.  The DSP I chose is from Wildflower Fields, which is a free item from Sale-a-bration.  I have really gotten a lot of use from this paper collection.  The other DSP used is the dots on the butterfly, which is from the 6 x 6 paper stack, Go Wild.  I am not really an animal print person, so I’m not sure why I ordered this.  However, I found that it does have alternative patterns that I am putting to good use.

Watermarked Photo 9 (2016-02-24-0938)

I cut the butterfly out twice using the Butterflies Thinlits, once in Basic Black cardstock and then with the DSP.  I glued the black right to the panel and then just glued the middle of the patterned butterfly to the black one and lifted the wings.  Basic Black candy dots were adhered to the body.

The sentiment is stamped in Black Archival ink using the Tin of Cards stamp set.  This is another workhorse set for me.  After I layered the panels, I used a piece of Black 3/8″ satin ribbon and a 1/4″ piece of Calypso Coral ribbon that was available during last year’s Sale-a-bration and wrapped them around the panel.  You could always replace the ribbon with cardstock for basically the same effect.

The inside sentiment is from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set.  I stamped it a wee bit crooked but didn’t notice that until the card was put together.  Most times I stamp the inside sentiment first for this reason.  But sometimes I get so excited about a design I forget and just go to town.  I embellished the envelope with the same DSP and a bit of black cardstock.  I think this little extra paper and effort is so worthwhile.  To me, it puts a handmade card over the top!

I hope you liked my interpretation of Michelle’s card.  I’ve listed all the products used on this card below.  They are all available in my online shop…just click the Shop Now button to pop over.  And remember that the Wildflower Fields DSP is FREE during Sale-a-bration!

Thanks so much for coming by today.

Circle of Spring Birthday

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-02-24-0935)

This card was so much fun to create.  I know that the wreath lends itself to colorful flowers but I wanted to try something a little different.  I am entering this card in three challenges.

Week 186 - Distress

The sketch at Can You Case It is probably one of my favorite card layouts, so I was happy to create a card for it.  The inspiration photo at The Challenge and the cue card “Distress”at CASology were also elements that made this card a lot of fun to make.

Watermarked Photo 2 (2016-02-24-0936)

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but wreaths are among one of my favorite things.  Whether they are hanging on my front door or on a card, I simply adore them.  This wreath from the Circle of Spring stamp set is so fresh and pretty anyway you decide to embellish it.  And the fact that it can be cut out using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits is just an added bonus. I stamped the wreath on Sahara Sand cardstock and inked it with Sahara Sand ink for a tone on tone effect.   Another favorite stamp of mine is the Hardwood background stamp, which I inked in Sahara Sand also.  The leaves on the wreath are colored using the Sahara Sand marker but it gave it a little green tint, which was a happy surprise.  I colored the flowers using the white gel marker.  The little flowers are punched using a small punch found at Michaels.  I punched them on white shimmer paper for a little shine and embellished them with tiny pearls.  The sentiment, also from the Circle of Spring set, is stamped in Versa-Mark and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  Before adhering the sentiment strip to the card, I punched a circle using the 1 3/8″ circle punch where the center of the wreath would be.

The inside sentiment is from the Lovely Amazing You stamp set, which is not in any catalog but is still available.  I stamped it in Crumb Cake which is a little darker.  The envelope is embellished with a piece of DSP from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack.

If you enjoy a little neutral color sometime, this card fits the bill while still being soft and pretty. I’ve listed all the products used for this project below and they can all be easily purchased by clicking the Shop Now button.  If you have any questions, I am happy to help.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Baby Buggy Balloons

Watermarked Photo 2 (2016-02-18-1537)

Baby cards are one of my favorite kind of cards to make.  They are just so sweet!

I am entering this card into the Paper Players theme challenge.

Balloons are so on trend in papercrafting these days and who doesn’t love balloons.  They are always associated with something happy and fun.  I wanted to create a non-birthday card using balloons.  So a new baby came to mind because what is happier than that?!

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-02-18-1537)

The buggy is stamped in Blushing Bride using the Something for Baby stamp set which has coordinating die set, Baby’s First Framelits, that make cutting it out super easy.  The balloons are punched with the Balloon Punch using the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack in Blushing Bride.  The prints in this pack are perfect for a baby card.  The sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set and punched out using the Scalloped Oval punch.  The whisper white background is embossed using the Decorative Dots embossing folder.

The inside sentiment is from the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  I love the font of this set.

Thanks so much for popping in today and I hope that this sweet little card made you smile.
