Big Birthday Bloom

I am naturally drawn to florals, so this card was really fun to create….

The inspiration behind this card came from two challenges I am participating in.  Pals Paper Arts #287 is a color challenge this week and the colors are fabulous.  The Global Design Project #022 is a fantastic sketch challenge.

The focal point of this card is definitely the flower from the Beautiful Bunch stamp set.  This is one of my favorite sets and this particular stamp is definitely my favorite of the bunch.  It makes such a statement on every card I’ve used it on.  It is easily punched out using the Fun Flower Punch.  I stamped the full flower twice and colored it using Calypso Coral ink and a blender pen.  I then punch both out along with another punch of just Calypso Coral cardstock.  I then stamped another flower just capturing the center and colored it with markers.  The center had to be hand snipped but it was very easy to do.  I then layered the pieces using two dimensionals.  For the leaves I simply cut two ferns from the Botanical Builder Framelits in Old Olive cardstock.  The sentiment is from the Something to Say stamp set.

The background paper is from the Sale-a-bration catalog and has such wonderful patterns…it’s hard to believe it was free!

I used a sentiment from the Cottage Greetings stamp set for the inside and decorate both the inside and envelope flap with some DSP.  I should also mention that this card is a 5 x 5 square so I created the envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.

I hope this card brightened your day a bit.  I needed to see flowers as it is 14 degrees mid-afternoon here today!

Thanks for looking in today and if you have any questions, please just leave me a comment or email and I will be sure to get back to you.

Cold Noses – Warm Hearts

Today I am playing along with the Paper Players #281 theme challenge, which is Cats & Dogs and also Can You Case It #106 sketch challenge.

This was really a fun combination of challenges to create a card for.  I was also able to incorporate a Valentine’s Day card into it.

I used a Papertrey Ink stamp and die set called Come All Ye Faithful.  I have had this set for a few years and bought it just for the dachshund and the sweaters.  Here is why…..

This is our senior pup, Tess.  She is almost 17 years young and always wears a “house” sweater.

I love the sentiment and thought that this would be a perfect card for Tess to give to her “Dad” for Valentine’s Day!

Thanks for looking in on my card today.  I hope you have a wonderful day.

Just Bloomin’ Love-ly

It is another snowy day here today.  The perfect kind of day to continue creating Valentine cards.  I must admit that I have made quite a few this year and have run out of people to send them to thanks to all the challenges I’ve been participating in.  That really is not a problem as I am usually scrambling at the last minute…not this year!

Today’s card is for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge #286 sketch challenge and the Stamp, Ink, Paper #34 theme challenge.  The theme is appropriately…LOVE.

Once again, I am using the Bloomin’ Love stamp set along with the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies.

The hearts are heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I used the small flower dies from the Thinlits to adorn the hearts and added a few rhinestones to the centers for a little extra “sparkle”.

The DSP is from the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Pack.  I am not much of an animal print person but have found the patterns in this pack really are very diverse and can be used many ways.  The scalloped trim behind the image was created using the largest die from the Squares Collection Framelits.

The inside sentiment is from the same set as the hearts, Bloomin’ Love.  I think this is one of the very best Valentine sets I have seen in a long time and I know I will be using this well beyond Valentine’s Day.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you have a wonderful day, even if it is snowing in your area too!

Gilded Valentine

Hello and happy Sunday or should I say Super Bowl Sunday.  We are not big football fans so besides just tuning in to the game (mostly for the commercials) nothing much is happening here…except cardmaking!

I am entering this card into these two challenges:

SIP-Challenge-33-Colors-800FMS222

My colors are spot on for the Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge.  However, I did a loose interpretation of the Freshly Made Sketches sketch…hope that was OK.  I think that is what is known as “creative license”.  If not, it still sounds good!

Front and center on this card is the beautiful flower from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.  I absolutely love this flower.  I especially like to emboss it and color it using ink pads and a blender pen.  You can see another example of this on this card here.  This time I heat embossed it using gold embossing powder and colored it with Real Red, Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz ink.  I then cut it out with my paper snips.  The sentiment is from the  Bloomin’ Love stamp set.  This is another set that I have used so much and can see using way beyond Valentine’s Day.

Watermarked Photo 4 (2016-02-07-1615)

This little sentiment, also from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set, has not seen any ink yet so I used it here.   I just added a little glittery goodness to the inside by punching the little heart from the Itty Bitty Accents Pack and adhering over the stamped heart.

I wonder if this card is more feminine or could it be for either gender…especially given the sequins.  I would love to hear your opinion on this.

Thanks so much for checking in today and if you are a football fan, I hope you have a fabulous Super Bowl Sunday!
