Happy Birthday to Ewe….

The challenge this week at the Global Design Project is a theme and that theme is …..

GDP023

It seems that balloons are all the rage in the papercrafting community these days and there are some very cute stamp sets featuring them.

I veered from the SU path a bit for this project.  All the paper, ink and embellishments are Stampin’ Up! but the stamp set is from My Favorite Things.  It is an absolutely adorable set called, Ewe Are The Best.

I made a treat bag from the Treat Bag Thinlits using a pattern from the In-Color Designer Series Paper Stack in Mint Macaron.

To create the cute little tag, I used the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and simply stamped a little background and the sentiment on the tag.  Then I stamped, colored and fussy cut the lamb.  Instead of coloring his balloon, I embellished it using a Honeycomb embellishment from the Occasions Catalog.  To finish it off, I just added a small bow using Blushing Bride cotton ribbon.

This project came together very quickly and the result was super cute.  I hope you agree.

Thanks very much for popping in today….I do appreciate it!

You Are Tea-riffic

Today I am playing along with the Paper Players Color Challenge.  These colors are so fresh and bright and exactly what I need this time of year.

I have been making a lot of cards featuring flowers lately and wanted to do something different.  I was also itching to break open a new stamp and die set…..Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-02-17-1626)

For sure, I am a tea drinker…about 5 cups a day!  So this set was destined to live at my house.

The stamp set, A Nice Cuppa is wonderful.  Especially if you are or know someone who is fond of tea.  Now couple this set with coordinating dies and it is simply awesome.  And factor in that it is available as a bundle for saving some $$$ and you really should buy it!

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-02-17-1624)

I love the little details in this set, like the lemon slice and the tea bags that I used on this card.  I think everything is pretty much evident on what I did to create the card.  The only thing that may need explaining is how I created the banner.  I cut a piece of DSP from the Subtles stack and trimmed it to 2 3/4″ x 4 1/2″.  Then I used the Lots of Labels Framelits and ran it through the Big Shot until just the bottom was cut…do not go all the way through or you won’t have the straight edge at the top.

For the inside embellishment, I used the heart die from the Treat Bag Thinlits and backed it with some DSP.  The size was not exactly the width of the card and you can see that it wasn’t exactly centered…but it still looks rather sweet.

I am going to send this to a fellow blogger, who I really enjoying reading and get so much inspiration from.  She is tea-riffic!

Thanks for looking in today and I hope you have a tea-riffic day!

Today I am playing along with Can You Case It’s Color Challenge…..

CYCI107

I must admit that I do love working with neutral colors, so I really looked forward to this challenge and color combo.

Some of my favorite stamps were used on this little card.  I stamped the background with the Hardwood stamp in Crumb Cake ink.

Watermarked Photo 3 (2016-02-15-1703)

The floral spray is from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set and is stamped with Versa Mark ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I added tiny pearls to the center of the flowers.  The butterfly, from the Butterfly Basics stamp set, is stamped in Crumb Cake and cut out using the Butterflies Die.  I also cut one out in Crumb Cake cardstock and layered the stamped image over it for a little more dimension.  Pearls were also added to butterfly’s body.  The Crumb Cake ribbon really pulls all these elements together.

I used a sentiment from the Butterfly Basic stamp set for the inside.  Since there is no sentiment on the front, this card could be used for a variety of occasions.  Perhaps a birthday, get well or just a simple thinking of you or hello.  These types of cards are very handy to have. I think this card would also be pretty in a variety of color combinations.  I will have to give it a try!

I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for stopping by….until next time,

Botanical Bloom Wreath

Happy Valentine’s Day…I hope you are spending it with someone or even something you love (like stamping perhaps).  I am doing both.  My husband and I will be going out to dinner later but I will have a few uninterrupted hours of stamping.  It is a good day!

My card to day has a very tropical feel thanks to the Botanical Blooms stamp set and coordinating dies.  Tropical is exactly how I would like to feel today as it is only 9 degrees right now!

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-02-14-1053)

The inspiration for this design came from Freshly Made Sketches challenge…..

FMS Final 223-001

I love wreaths, along with flowers.  But wreaths are really one of my favorite things and creating them on a card is so much fun.  So when I saw this sketch that is the first thing that came to mind.

Watermarked Photo 2 (2016-02-14-1054)

I was really anxious to use the Botanical Blooms bundle so this is what I came up with.  I created the wreath using the ferns in Pear Pizzazz from the bundle.  However, first I created a wreath base using the 2 1/4″ punch (retired) and 2 1/2″ punch then glued the ferns around the base using the fine tip glue pen.  The flowers were then cut from the same die in Cherry Cobbler, Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon cardstock.  The background DSP is also from the Botanical Bundle.  This bundle is such a great value as you get the stamp set, die collection and DSP all together.  The “hello” sentiment came from the sale-a-bration free set, Honeycomb Happiness.  I stamped the sentiment first on Hello Honey cardstock then placed the banner from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set over the sentiment for perfect placement.  This is very easy since the banner is a photopolymer stamp and you can see right through it. Candy dots and pearls, colored with a sharpie center the flowers.

The inside sentiment came from the hostess set in the annual catalog called Best Thoughts.  I stamped both the inside of the card and outside of the envelope with matching flowers.

As always, I truly appreciate your taking the time to look in on my card.  If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to let me know and I will be more than happy to respond.

I hope you have a LOVE-ly day!
