Pretty in Pink with True Love DSP – Paper Players Challenge

The True Love Designer Series Paper collection has turned me into a coloring fool lately. I love a set of black and white patterns and this collection is chock full of both floral and geometric patterns. I haven’t even begun to use the geometric patterns as I’ve been enjoying coloring all the florals. They are simply beautiful! Take a look here…

True Love Designer Series Paper #154281

My direction for today’s card came from The Paper Players color challenge.

Today’s card can be used for a variety of occasions using the sentiments from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set.

Here are the details:

The card base is Flirty Flamingo with a Basic Black mat.
The Whisper White panel is embossed with the Parisian Flourish embossing folder.
I cut the floral spray from a pattern in the True Love DSP and colored it using Stampin’ Blends.
The flowers are hand cut with a hand cut Basic Black mat. This is an easy way to step it up a bit and really highlights the image.
As I mentioned, the sentiment is from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set. I stamped it with Versa Mark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.
Again, I hand cut the sentiment and mat.
Lastly, I added a few silver enamel dots.

This inside sentiment can be used for a few different occasions, so it’s a good one to have on hand.

CASEing Coast to Coast with Kangaroo & Company

Welcome back to another cross-country CASEing (Copy and Selectively Edit) adventure with Karen Hallam in CA and myself here in PA. Each month, we take a turn at CASEing each other’s project. However, this year we changed it up a bit and we’ll be adding a theme, sketch, color and other challenges to the mix. This month, Karen suggested this sketch challenge. First here’s the sketch…

When thinking about what card to make, I was so close to using this exact paper and stamp. I’m glad I went in a different direction but will definitely be caseing Karen’s card in the future.

Here’s what I came up with…

Using the Kangaroo & Company bundle, I created a sweet baby card. The images were easily colored with Stampin’ Blends . The striped paper is from the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper. I created the six banners using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch. The dotted embossing folder is one from my stash. For a little finishing detail, I added a few Resin Hearts available in the mini catalog.

One of the main reasons I hold onto some of my retired stamp sets is for the sentiments. The sentiments here are from the Made with Love stamp set.

This card came together surprisingly quick. I’m going to create a few more using gender neutral paper to have on hand and for the Sunshine Club at school since we have a few staff members expecting this spring.

Love is….with The Greetery

I recently purchased (more than) a few stamps and dies from the new January collection from The Greetery called Nature Lover’s Collection. I completely fell in love with the heart shaped wreaths and so many of the sentiments in this collection. I know I’ll be spending many happy hours creating with these products.

My card today features the Mini Boxwood Wreaths stamps and dies along with the Love die. I also used the Love Is and Love Song Sentiments stamps.

I had this idea in my head for a few days debating if it would work. Amazingly, it turned our exactly the way I envisioned it. This is not something that happens very often for me. I usually labor over a design for a while and make several revisions along the way.

I’m giving this to my husband, Steve, for Valentine’s Day because he certainly is patient, kind and never fails. After Valentine’s Day and because I usually take back the cards I make for him, I’m going to figure out a way to create a home decor piece out of it.

I’m entering this into this week’s Paper Players theme challenge…

It snowed again last night here in PA and is so cold and frosty. And there’s more winter weather predicted for the weekend. I’m off from school until Tuesday and my car is in the repair shop…so I’m hoping to spend a lot of time in the craft room.

Sending Lots of Happy (Birthday) – Pals Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team created “Birthday Bonanza” projects to inspire you to make for all of your family and friends. We hope you enjoy and are inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments because we all love hearing from you! At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Surprise, it’s another slimline! I’m completely in on this card making trend right now. I love that you can make them in a variety of sizes and that they allow for more room for creativity. My slimline measures 8″ x 3 1/2″.

My card today features a much overlooked product in my craft room…the Many Medallions dies. I also incorporated the Pretty Perennials bundle and the True Love Designer Series Paper.

The large die in the Many Medallions dies measures a little less than 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ so I had to alter it to fit the slimline design.

Using the largest die, I cut 2 pieces with Whisper White card stock. Since the die is wider than my card, I trimmed along the right side, leaving 4 columns of medallions on each die cut. I also determined that I would need 3 rows of medallions from the 2nd die cut to cover the front of the card.

I attached the two pieces with liquid glue. And then glued the whole piece to the Petal Pink panel.

I colored the flowers from the True Love Designer Series Paper with Stampin’ Blends, cut them out and glued them to the pretty medallion background. Using the sentiments from the Pretty Perennials stamp set, I stamped the large “happy” and used my Scan n’ Cut to cut it out. I also cut a mat from Basic Black card stock.

The inside sentiment a combination of two sentiments from the Best Year stamp set.

I created a custom envelope using a piece of 32lb white copy paper. The extra paper weight is just perfect for an envelope. Just for a little interest, I added another cut-out colored flower.
