My Favorite Snow Buddy

I’m popping in today with a fun card for the Paper Players blog tic tac toe challenge.  Here’s the challenge board…

I chose to follow the right side down: scene, sparkle, blue.

I created this cute little snow scene using My Favorite Things Snow Buddy stamp set and dies.

Although this is not a true shaker card as nothing is “shakable”.  I created part of the scene behind a circle die cut panel with clear acetate. Before this panel is adhered with dimensionals, I glued the snowman directly to the snow patterned paper.   I had a good time coloring and paper piecing (snowman hat and scarf, dog scarf).  It may not be apparent in the photo, the snow drift was heat embossed with thick clear embossing powder which gave it a shiny texture.  This is also adhered to the inside of the die cut circle. The puppy is tucked into the outside of the circle and the fence is glued to the outside front.  I added some sparkle to the snow on the fence with glitter glue.  Digging into my embellishment stash, I found these iridescent snowflake which I found at Target’s Dollar Spot and glued them around the outside of the card.

I added another sentiment and cute image from the Snow Buddy stamp set to the inside.

So here’s my inspiration for this fun card which I’m sending to my grandson Jack!  We had a substantial (2 snow days) snowstorm here in PA earlier in the week and Jack had a great time playing in it.

Thanks very much for stopping by today…I hope you have a wonderful day!

Toile Tidings Valentine + Bonus Card

Hello there and happy Tuesday!  I’m enjoying my second snow day in a row today.  I had a most enjoyable day cozied up inside yesterday stamping while the snow piled up outside. I’m sure we’ll be back to school tomorrow, though.

Stampin Up Valentine Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinupThis Valentine card was created using the (retired) Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper.  I love any kind of toile patterns and paired with the gingham produces such a classic look.  The heart cluster die is the Clipping Heart die from Simon Says Stamps.

  • I cut 4 of these heart clusters and glue them together for dimension. Then they were glued to a Very Vanilla Stitched Rectangle.
  • I cut 3 more clusters using the 2 DSP patterns and Real Red card stock.  Using the paper piecing technique, I inserted the various hearts into the heart “frame” for an inlaid look.
  • The rhinestones were colored with a red Sharpie.
  • The sentiment is from the (retired) Good Greetings stamp set and is stamped with Real Red ink.  It’s cut with a die from my stash and adhered with dimensionals.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Happy Thoughts stamp set.

So what usually happens when I’m stamping is that I’ll wonder what the card I just created would look like using a different color, pattern or stamp set.  I had some of the Boho Indigo Designer Series Paper left on my desk from this card HERE, so I created a card that could be a Valentine or just a friendship card.

I changed the orientation but used the same technique.  The stamp set is Thoughtful Greetings from Pretty Pink Posh.  I’m always looking for unique and expressive sentiments and this set has quite a few.

So using basically the same technique and most of the same products, I was able to create two different cards.  I can use both for Valentine’s Day or save one for just sending “happy thoughts”.

February Wreath Calendar

With January behind us, I’m welcoming February with lots of love and hearts with my February wreath calendar.  I’ve created a wreath for each month which I’ll share on the first day of the new month throughout the year.

Most of the products used on this wreath are from the Arrange a Wreath bundle.  However, the sentiment came from a stamp set in my stash.  I’ve had the most fun putting together these wreaths.  They are attached to the lucite frame with adhesive backed magnets.  A piece of woodgrain patterned paper was inserted into the frame for the background.  The calendar was purchased at Taylored Expressions.

CASEing Coast to Coast: A Boho Indigo Valentine

Welcome to the first CASEing Coast to Coast of 2021. Each month, Karen Hallam, in CA and I, in PA have been taking turns CASEing (copy and selectively edit) each other’s projects.  To change it up a little, this year we’ll be adding a theme to each month’s project.  Our theme today is Valentine’s Day…

Stampin Up Slimline Meant To Be Valentine Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

I went the non-traditional route on my slimline Valentine card.  When I was looking through my patterned papers, nothing very Valentine-y caught my attention.  So I turned to my favorite color and one of my favorite Designer Series Paper collections, Boho Indigo.  This paper is part of the Boho Indigo Product Medley.  However, I just purchased the refill kit, as I was really only interested in the paper and embellishments.

The Very Vanilla card base measures 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ with the Misty Moonlight panel measuring 8 3/8′ x 3 3/8″.  The top Very Vanilla panel measures 8 1/4″ x 3 1/4″.  I cut 4 strips of DSP to 1/4″ and 2 strips of Misty Moonlight card stock to 1/8″ to create the center background.  The DSP is 6″ x 6″ so it was necessary to have a seam in the center but the middle heart covered it.

Using various heart dies from the Stitched Be Mine dies, I cut 2 patterned hearts from the DSP.  I then cut 12 of the scalloped frame hearts from Misty Moonlight card stock.  I layered 4 of these together to create each scalloped heart for some dimension.  The center heart is stamped with a sentiment from the Meant to Be stamp set in Misty Moonlight ink.  Lastly, for some added detail, I added some tiny pearls to the flower centers.  I’m pretty sure these are retired SU pearls.  I’m actually on the hunt for more of this size.

I used the Forever and Always stamp set for the inside sentiment.  I love this set and can’t wait to use it on an entire card.  A little DSP added to each side is a simple yet pretty way to add some interest.

I purchased a box of cream colored and white resume envelopes from an office supply store for my slimline cards.  These envelopes are slightly bigger than I need for this size card but they have a nice quality feel and texture. So I’m ok with a little wiggle room!

Please be sure to travel to the opposite coast to visit Karen’s blog HERE to see her creative CASE of my Valentine.
