Clean & Simple Missing You

Stampin Up Grace's Garden Friendship Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

In an effort to revisit some stamp sets in the Annual Catalog that have been neglected, I pulled out Grace’s Garden.  This set and the coordinating Garden Gateway dies have been sitting on my shelf for longer than I like to admit and haven’t been used once!  This is a real frustration of mine and one that I’m trying to correct.  So I made a clean and simple card to send to a friend that I haven’t been able to see since last year.

Card Details

  • The A2 card base is Thick Whisper White card stock.
  • The patterned layer is from the True Love Designer Series Paper collection and measures 4″ x 5 1/4″. It’s glued directly onto the card base.
  • Next I die cut a Stitched Rectangle in Whisper White card stock.
  • I cut a piece of Flirty Flamingo card stock 3 9/16″ x 4 7/8″.  This is approximately 1/8″ larger than the stitched rectangle.

Stampin Up Grace's Garden Friendship Cards Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • To create the serene scene, I used the Garden Gateway dies to cut the gate, flowers, bird and cat.  I easily colored each with Stampin’ Blends.
  • The sentiment is from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Fancy Phrases stamp set.

Even though the Grace’s Garden stamp set has many more stamps and dies and can create intricate, beautiful scenes. I really like that you can choose just a few to create more simple yet equally beautiful cards.

Thanks very much for spending some time with me today.  I hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

Take care,

Rosanne

Feeling Blessed Friendship Card & 3D Picture

My project today was one I had in mind for quite some time.  I found a home decor project on Pinterest and decided I would try to turn it into a paper craft project.  The idea sat on my computer desktop for a few months and then I came across a brand new challenge that my fellow Pal member, Debbie Mageed started.  So the time was perfect to see if my idea would work.  I think it did!

First, here’s the inspiration for the project…

Now here’s my paper crafting interpretation…

Stampin Up Blessed Wreath 3D Frame - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Picture Details

  • For the frame, I cut my Crumb Cake card stock at 10″ x 10″ and then followed Debbie’s tutorial HERE.
  • NOTE:  before adhering the sides of the frame, I inserted a piece of 6″ x 6″ piece of woodgrain patterned paper in the center.
  • Once the frame was complete, I created the wreath using the Wreath Builder dies.  I’ve used these dies so much it’s a wonder they’re still in one piece!
  • I cut 6 wreaths in a variety of greens: Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive and Soft Sea Foam and layered them together.  This gave it a lot of dimension.
  • I then used a piece of retired braided trim to create a hanger.  I put some Tear & Tape on the inside of the trim so it would stay flush on the wreath.  I also added a strip of Tear & Tape to the back of the trim and adhered the wreath to the center of the frame.  I made sure that the trim was long enough to tuck underneath the frame.
  • Lastly, I stamped the “Blessed” sentiment from To a Wild Rose stamp set and cut it out.  I also cut a black mat to make the sentiment pop.  I used the Brother Scan n’ Cut for this but it could just as easily be hand cut. This is glued onto the center of the wreath.

Since I was pleased with the way this turned out, I decided why not make a coordinating card and create a pretty gift set.

Card Details

  • The A2 card base is Thick Whisper White card stock with a top fold.
  • The next panel is Crumb Cake card stock measuring 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″.
  • The woodgrain patterned paper measures 5 1/4″ x 4″.
  • I recreated the same wreath using three layers:  Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive & Soft Sea Foam.
  • I finished the card front by heat embossing another sentiment from To a Wild Rose on Basic Black card stock and added it to the bottom of the card.

Happy Thoughts with Free as a Bird

HELLO!  I’m reaching into my current stamps sets that have been a bit neglected.  I know we all love what’s fresh and new but I’m going to try to give equal time to those sets that have been around for awhile.  Today I chose the Free as a Bird stamp set.  This set was very popular when it first came out in the last annual catalog cycle.  It also had beautiful, coordinating Designer Series Paper.  Well even though the paper is not around any longer, I think the stamps are still pretty and can carry a card on their own.

Here’s the details…

  • The A2 card base is Thick Whisper White.
  • I cut a piece of Rococo Rose card stock to 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ and glued it to the card base.
  • For the Whisper White background, I used a retired Chicken Wire Element (which was unopened until now).  I lightly glued it to a piece of Whisper White card stock and trimmed around it so that the chicken wire fit perfectly.
  • This panel is glued to the Rococo Rose panel.

  • All the images are hand cut and colored using Stampin’ Blends.  Along with the birds on the branch, I also cut small flowers and leaves to add to the bird image.
  • Tiny pearls are added to the flower centers.
  • Lastly, I had this little non SU  “hello” die that I thought was the perfect size.  I die cut it 4 times and layered it for some dimension.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Happy Thoughts stamp set in the January-June Mini Catalog. This is a perfect set for inside sentiments.

I’m happy I pulled this set out again as it was fun to color and even fussy cut!  Sometimes stamp sets are so short-lived that I’m really going to try to give them their due.  If I thought they were good enough to buy, they certainly should be good enough for me to use more than once or twice!

Here’s another project I did using the stamp set and DSP. Even though the paper is unavailable, you could achieve the same results just using the stamp set.  If you wish to read the whole blog post, click HERE.

Sweet Strawberries Just for You

Stampin Up Sweet Strawberry All Occasion Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Happy Sunday!  I hope your weekend is going well.  I’m winding down a non-scheduled 4 day weekend due to our snowstorm on Thursday…so there’s no complaints here!

Today’s card inspiration came from this week’s challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.  Take a look…

Here’s the details…

  • The A2 card base is Granny Apple Green card stock.
  • For the next layer, I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock a little larger than the second largest Stitched Rectangle die.
  • I glued a 2″ wide piece of the plaid DSP along with a 1/8″ strip of Granny Apple Green card stock to the top and bottom of the DSP across the center of the Whisper White panel.
  • Then I cut it with the second largest Stitched Rectangle.  This way the stitching is totally all around the panel.  This panel is glued directly to the card base.
  • I repeated the same steps for the top panel, however this is adhered with dimensionals, being sure to line the pattern up with the pattern beneath.

Stampin Up Sweet Strawberry All Occasion Card -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • I colored the strawberries and leaves from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set using Stampin’ Blends and punched them with the coordinating Strawberry punch.
  • The little flowers were punched using the Strawberry punch from a pattern in the Berry Delightful DSP.  I colored a few Clear Epoxy Droplets with a Stampin’ Blend and added them to the flower centers.
  • I used two dies from the Christmas Cardinal dies to cut the swirly vines.  I really like the little added detail they provide.
  • The sentiment is stamped in black ink.

  • Even though I left the inside blank to write a personal note, I had to add a few embellishments.  I like to think of it as a little added surprise!I

I absolutely loved this sketch and can think of so many other possibilities.  So you may not have seen the last of it!
