To A Wild Rose Mother’s Day Card – Pals Blog Hop

Happy Hop Day! What better occasion is there to celebrate this time of year than Mother’s Day. I know so many wonderful Mom’s that truly deserve this special day and all the pampering that goes with it. For today’s share, I created a pretty slimline. Slimline cards are by far my favorite to make right now. I think the format lends itself to a bit more creativity and is a refreshing alternate to a regular A2 card. I’m sure I’ll be making these long after the trend is over!

I combined several different products to complete my card:

The card base is So Saffron card stock and the DSP is a pattern from the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper.
The flowers and leaves are from To a Wild Rose stamps set. They’re stamped in Memento Black, So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Mossy Meadow ink and cut using the coordinating Wild Rose dies.
The big, bold “happy” sentiment is from the Pretty Perennials stamp set and the heat embossed “Mother’s Day” comes from the Well Said stamp set.

Lastly, I added some gold touches behind the flowers using the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty paper and a few Gold Glitter Enamel dots.

I thought the inside sentiment, from the Happy Thoughts stamp set, was just perfect for the occasion.

Black & White vs. Technicolor?

Happy new week! Today I’m sharing one card design two ways: one colored and one black and white. I hope you’ll share with me which one you like best in the comments. Here’s the black and white one…

And now the colored card….

Card Details

The A2 card base is Basic White thick card stock cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and scored at 5 1/2″.
The next layer is Basic Black card stock cut at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. This is glued directly to the card base.
The next Basic White panel is cut at 4″ x 5 1/4″.
I cut a scalloped heart using the Be Mine Stitched dies in the Basic White panel.
The floral pattern is from the True Love DSP and is inset between the cut-out heart and black panel.
After gluing the white panel over the DSP, I cut 3 more hearts from Basic Black card stock and created a dimensional frame for the floral heart.

The sentiment for each card is from the Pretty Perennial stamp set. I cut the “happy” using the Brother Scan n’ Cut.

Since I really enjoy coloring, I’m partial to the colored card. I’ve had so much fun coloring the images in the True Love DSP that I have a few other projects featuring this DSP which I colored. So while I love seeing black and white DSP, I know it won’t stay that way!

Forever Blossoms Wedding Card Money Holder

With wedding season coming up and since a few weddings have been postponed from last year, I decided to have a few cards on hand.

My cards are a mini slimline, which happens to be my favorite size card at the moment. These cards are also money wallets which made more sense as we usually give a check as a wedding gift as opposed to a gift card. Here’s the details…

The thick Basic White card base measures 6″ x 9″, scored at 3 1/2″ and 7″.

The next layer is a pattern from the Love You Always Specialty DSP cut at 6″ x 1″ and glued to the left side of the card base as shown above.

On a 2 3/4″ x 6″ piece of Basic White card stock, I stamped the floral image from the Forever Blossoms stamp set and heat embossed it with Copper embossing powder.
This panel is glued to the right side of the card overlapping the DSP.
A 1/8″ strip of Copper Foil is glued over the seam of the white panel.
The sentiment, also from Forever Blossoms stamp set, is heat embossed in (retired) copper embossing powder.
The sentiment is punched using the Double Oval punch. I also layered another Copper Foil oval under the sentiment oval. These are popped up with Stampin’ dimensionals.

To create the “wallet”, add Tear & Tape to the sides of the 2 1/2″ panel and adhered it to the inside panel of the card.
The sentiment is stamped in black ink.
A thin strip of DSP and a thinner strip of foil creates a pretty border.

The envelope is made from 32lb white card stock that I found on Amazon. It has a very smooth texture and is slightly thicker than regular copy paper but not as thick as card stock. This makes it perfect for an envelope. You can see the envelope template HERE.

As usual, after I create a card, I think that maybe it would look good or better in a different color and/or pattern. So here’s another version using a different pattern from the same DSP collection and Sahara Sand foil. These are in the Jan – June mini catalog.

I think this is such a pretty and very practical card that could also be used to give money or a check for a bridal shower. The DSP and foil will be available until June 30th and the Forever Blossoms stamp set is carrying over in the new Annual Catalog.

Forever Fern Friendship Bookmarks

Being a book lover and librarian, bookmarks are a necessity. And being a paper crafter, making bookmarks is so enjoyable! I also gift books as often as I can and like to include a handmade bookmark as a special personal touch.

I created these using the Forever Fern stamp set in an array of colors. I think I could have made them in just about every color Stampin’ Up! offers.

Here’s the details…

I cut a piece of colored card stock at 2″ x 6″ and punched it using the (retiring) Delightful Tag Topper punch.
Next, I embossed a 1 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic White card stock with the Parisian Flourish 3D embossing folder.
Before gluing the embossed piece to the colored tag, I cut (2) 1/8″ x 1 3/4″ strips of silver foil and glued to each end.

Using the Forever Fern stamp set, I stamped a variety of images and cut them with the coordinating Forever Flourishing dies.
I then arranged them on the embossed panel using both glue and dimensionals.

The sentiment is also from the Forever Fern stamp set and is stamped in black ink and cut using a circle die from the (retiring) Stitched Shapes dies.
I created a little more definition to the sentiment circle by cutting a silver foil circle from the Layering Circles dies and gluing it behind the stitched circle.
The circle is adhered to the center of the bookmark with dimensionals.

Lastly, and probably my favorite thing about these bookmarks is the handmade tassels. I used some thicker Baker’s Twine to create them.

I had such a good time creating these bookmarks. I could have (and probably will) make more using some other Stampin’ Up! colors. I’m not sure which color I like best.
