It’s that time again to travel from the West Coast with Karen Hallam and I (from the East Coast) for our monthly CASEing project. This month, Karen designed this pretty card and it was my job to decide which of the elements to Copy and Selectively Edit (CASE). I love the modern vibe along with the vibrant colors of Karen’s card. You can see all the details on Karen’s blog HERE.
Since I have neither the stamp set or the Designer Series Paper Karen used, I decided that along with (mostly) following the card layout, that I would also incorporate the paper piecing technique Karen used on the dress and umbrella. I actually love this technique but don’t remember to use it that often. So here’s my CASE…
The card base is Petal Pink card stock with a mat of Basic Black card stock and a black/white pattern from the Botanical Prints Product Medley. The paper in this collection is absolutely beautiful. After creating another smaller mat of Petal Pink, Basic Black and Whisper White, I stamped the Hello sentiment, from the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set, in Versa Mark and heat embossed with black embossing powder.
The big, beautiful bloom from Good Morning Magnolia was the perfect image to paper piece and created a pretty focal point.
The flower was stamped on Whisper White card stock and heat embossed with black embossing powder. I cut it out with the coordinating Magnolia Memory dies. Then I stamped the image on a subtle pink pattern from the Parisian Blossoms DSP and again on a green pattern from the Tropical Oasis DSP. Both were also heat embossed with black embossing powder. The flower was hand cut from the pink pattern and the leaves hand cut from the green pattern and glued to the image stamped on Whisper White. I’m really pleased with how the flower and leaves patterns look against the busier black/white background even though I had to use patterns from several different collections. Another justification to collect more paper!
The inside is embellished with a strip of DSP and another sentiment from Good Morning Magnolia.
Creating a coordinated envelope is quick and easy. Not to mention, it’s also a prelude to the prettiness awaiting inside!

I found so much inspiration in this card it was a bit difficult to narrow it down to exactly what I was going to copy. Using Karen’s layout, I created this fun winter shaker card.
Ok…so I’ve dabbled in making a few Christmas cards so far but now that all my Thanksgiving cards have been sent, I’m getting serious about it! For today’s card, I pulled out a beautiful set that was introduced in last year’s Holiday Catalog and carried over to this year’s Annual Catalog…Dashing Deer stamp set and the coordinating Detailed Deer dies. With all the new sets introduced in the current Holiday Catalog, it’s easy to forget that the Annual Catalog has some really pretty older and new sets also.
I used another sentiment from the Greatest Part of Christmas stamp set for the inside and embellished it with a pretty border stamp from Dashing Deer.
