You’ve Been on My Mind

Hello!  It’s Friday already and what a strange week it’s been!  Just like most educators across the country, I’ve been home from school all week with no idea when we’ll return. We’re conducting online classes and making the best of this unprecedented situation.  Thank goodness for this wonderful hobby!  I’ve been spending a lot more time in the craft room stamping.

Stampin Up Butterfly Gala Thinking of You Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

The sentiment on today’s card says it all.  I’ll be sending cards to family and friends to let them know I’m thinking of them, even though maybe not able to see them.

Materials & Measurements

  • Card base:  Whisper White Thick Card Stock, cut at 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Pool Party Card Stock, cut at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ (cut 2:  one for the inside also)
  • White Embossed Panel, cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Pool Party Panel, cut at 4 5/8″ x 2 1/8″
  • Bird Ballad DSP, cut at 4 1/2″ x 2″
  • Whisper White Card Stock,  cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″ for the inside

Details

  • Once I matted all the layers with glue (no dimensionals here), this card came together rather quickly.
  • The white embossed layer is from a long retired DSP collection which I don’t recall the name.  However, any pretty embossing folder would work well here.
  • The small butterflies, from the Butterfly Gala stamp set, are a two step stamp.  They’re stamped first with Tuxedo Black Memento ink ,then with Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, Calypso Coral and Petal Pink ink.  They’re punched out with the Butterfly Duets punch.
  • I popped them on the DSP with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • The sentiment is also from the Butterfly Gala stamp set.  I like to straightforward font on this sentiment.  I stamped it in Early Espresso ink on a banner from my stash.  This is also popped with dimensionals, however the butterfly is glued directly to the banner.

  • The inside is embellished with a few stamped butterflies and a strip of DSP, leaving enough room for a message.
  • I also added the same DSP strip to the envelope for a pretty coordinated look.

This card actually served a dual purpose.  Besides having a pretty card to brighten someone’s day, it allowed my to use some long neglected stamps and DSP.  I know that I get a little too wrapped up in just the new products and tend to forget about products that are still current but have been around awhile.  After not using them for such a long time, they actually feel new again!  Is this something that happens to you, also?  I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a good weekend while trying to stay safe and healthy.

Please take care,

Rosanne

A Tropical Oasis Birthday for Case-ing Coast to Coast

It’s time for another Coast to Coast Case-ing project with Karen Hallam at Karen’s Stamping Habit.  If you’re a regular follower of either Karen or me, you know that we take a turn each month creating a card and the other decides what to Copy and Selectively Edit (CASE) to come up with another project.  This month it’s Karen’s turn to case my card here….

Stampin Up Tropical Oasis Birthday Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinupLet’s talk about this paper!  To be honest, I have a love-hate relationship with Designer Series Paper.  I love most of the paper but hate that I don’t use nearly enough of it.  I don’t think I’ll have that problem with this collection.  I absolutely love every pattern…even the tropical fruit, which I have no idea how to use…yet.

As you can see, there is minimal stamping on the card.  I let the paper do all the work and boy did it come through!

  • The Whisper White card base measures 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″
  • The DSP measures 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.  I created a window in the center using a Stitched Rectangle die.
  • I cut two additional Stitched Rectangles in Real Red and Whisper White card stock, stamping the sentiment from the Timeless Tropical on the Whisper White panel. The Real Red panel is popped up with dimensionals.

  • Using the same patterned paper, I fussy cut flowers to embellish the sentiment panel.  The leaves were cut from a different pattern in the same DSP collection using a die from the coordinating, In The Tropics dies.  I’m not sure if you can tell by the photo, I added an additional little flower on top of each to create a bit of dimension.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Momma Elephant set, Paolo’s Wishes.  I love the fun, scripty font.

I’ve presented myself with a few new paper crafting challenges:  (1) USE the DSP that I purchase in more creative ways, and (2) Don’t be afraid to fussy cut…I’m finding it actually therapeutic! What about you?  Are you OK with using up your DSP or are you saving it for (what)?  Do you enjoy fussy cutting…do you find it relaxing or stressful?  I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Now that you’ve seen my East Coast card, cross the country to the West Coast and see Karen’s creative take on it HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you’re having a good week!

Take care,

Rosanne

Daisy Birthday

Hello…even though it’s a cold, damp February day, I have a cheerful, sunny card for you.  Daisies always make me smile and I hope this card will make you smile too….

When choosing the color scheme for this card, I wanted to go with colors that I had three graduated shades.  That ended up being So Saffron, Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry.  Creating the daises was so easy using the small Daisy Punch from Stampin’ Up!  I stamped three of each color and layered them.  The centers are a circle punched in Early Espresso and a retired Glitter Dot. The leaves were cut in vellum and colored with Pear Pizzazz ink.

I pulled out a couple of retired pieces of Daffodil Delight DSP patterns and used a scalloped rectangle die to mount the daisies.  The sentiment is from an Altenew set.

I had a lot of fun with this layout and will probably try it in a few other colors.  I think I have the colors I need to make a pink one and maybe a purple one.

Thanks for checking in on my project today and I hope the rest of your week is sunny and bright!

Take care,

Rosanne

Something Sweet for Spring

Hello! I hope you’re enjoying a nice weekend.  Here in southeastern PA, we’re having almost Spring-like weather.  So to celebrate this early taste of Spring, I created a sweet Easter card.

Newtons Nook Woodland Spring Easter Card -Rosanne Mulhern

I recently purchased an adorable set from Newton’s Nook called Woodland Spring.  I just love the precious images and have been having fun coloring them.  I’ll be sharing more in the weeks to come.

Newtons Nook Woodland Spring Easter Card - Rosanne Mulhern

The inside sentiment is from Hello Bluebird’s Spring Banner set.

I really enjoy card challenges and it’s been a while since I joined one, so I’m linking this card to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge #52.  I chose the top row across.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Rosanne
