A Tic Tac Toe Gatefold – TTTC#021

Time for another Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  Today’s challenge board has a definite feminine feel so I challenged myself to go in a different direction (two challenges in one!).  Here’s today’s board…

I chose the third column diagonal:  oval, free, die cut for my card.

Stampin Up Count My Blessings Gatefold Thinking of You card idea- Rosanne Mulhern

I just recently started making these gatefold cards and now I’m a little bit hooked on them.  They are so easy and I think create a much more interesting card with absolutely no more effort than a regular A2 card since they’re the same size and only scored differently.

Here’s the details

  • The Very Vanilla thick card stock card base is cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 2 1/8″ on each side of the 8 1/2″ side.  This leaves two panels on each side to create the “gate”.
  • I cut two panels measuring 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ of Pear Pizzazz card stock and layered that with a pattern from Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper cut 1/8″ smaller on each gate panel.

  • The Belly Band is Very Vanilla card stock with another layer of Pear Pizzazz card stock that I embossed with the Petal Burst embossing folder to mimic the leaves in the Designer Series Paper.
  • The oval medallion was created with the Layering Ovals framelits using both the regular ovals and scalloped oval.
  • The sentiment is from Count My Blessings stamp set and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.

  • Here’s a peek of the inside where I added another strip of Designer Series Paper and Cherry Cobbler card stock.
  • The sentiment (non-SU) is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink.

  • I coordinated the envelope with the card with more Designer Series Paper on the flap.

With the belly band closure, opening this card is a little like opening a gift!

I hope that you’ll hop over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge and check out my teammates terrific creations.  If you haven’t already, why not pick a few elements from the fun challenge board and create a card.  We would love for you to play along and share your project with us!Tic Tac Toe Challenge - Rosanne Mulhern stampin up

A Fun Paper Challenge

Last month I posted a card HERE that I created for a fun challenge my friend and upline, Susan Itell, invited her downline to participate in.  Susan sends us various elements and we’re come up with a card.  It’s always interesting to see how everyone has such different ideas using the same elements.

Here’s the card I came up with this month…

Stampin Up One Big Meaning Thank You card - Rosanne Mulhern

I forgot to take a picture of my packet but it contained a piece of Soft Suede and Soft Sky card stock along with a piece of Designer Series Paper from the Coffee Break DSP collection and a Delicate White Doilie.  The card I created is simple.  However, I think that the DSP pattern and doilie really give it life!

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Whisper White thick card stock.
  • The DSP is cut at 5 1/2″ x 2 1/2″.  I cut strips from the Soft Suede and Soft Sky card stock to create a striped border.
  • The sentiment, from One Big Meaning stamp set, is stamped in Soft Suede ink and cut with a circle from the Stitched Shapes framelits then layered on a Soft Suede scalloped circle and Soft Sky circle from the Layering Circles framelits.
  •  The Soft Suede circle is popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the entire medallion is glued to the doilie which is glued directly to the card.

  • A few more strips of leftover card stock and DSP gives the inside a coordinated look.  I left it blank for a personal note.

  • Again, just a few leftover pieces and the envelope ties in with the card nicely.

Like I said this card was very simple to make with minimal supplies but I am really pleased with the result.  I’ll be anxious to see what my teammates came up with, too.  Oh, I did I mention that in the package Susan sent there was a BIG and so delicious homemade Ginger Snap cookie!  What a treat!

Still Counting My Blessings

Happy Monday!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I had an amazing weekend filled with fun, food and, most importantly, friendship with my stampin’ sorority sisters, Susan, Jeanie, Ramsey and Deb.  We spent the weekend holed up in Ramsey’s lovely home in Annapolis stamping our little hearts out!  There is just so much more to this wonderful hobby than making cards!

Stampin Up Count My Blessings Thank You cards - Rosanne Mulhern

Even though I really like the Designer Series Paper collections in the Holiday Catalog, sometimes it’s fun to create your own backgrounds.  This card features stamped images from the Count My Blessings stamp set which I colored with Stampin’ Markers.

Here’s the measurements

  • Very Vanilla thick card stock: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2
  • Soft Suede card stock: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
  • Very Vanilla card stock: 4″ x 5 1/4″

Here’s the details

  • The Very Vanilla card stock is randomly stamped with images from Count My Blessings stamp set.  I especially like the acorn and oak leaf image.
  • After stamping and coloring the images with Stampin’ Write markers, I added the little dots to fill in the some of the white space.
  • Using two of the Layered Ovals framelits, I cut the stamped panel and the Soft Suede panel to create the sentiment window.

  • The sentiment is from the Merry Little Labels stamp set available in the Holiday Catalog and is stamped in Soft Suede ink.
  • After stamping the sentiment onto the card base, I popped the Soft Suede and stamped panels with Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the card base to create a more dimensional effect.

  • The inside sentiment is also from Count My Blessings stamp set and stamped in Soft Suede ink.
  • A small strip of DSP from Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper adds a bit of interest.
  • This is an example of a card that can be used for many occasions…thank you, thinking of you, thank you, friendship, thanksgiving or simply just because.

I hope you are looking forward to a wonderful week ahead.  It looks like we may finally be getting a taste of fall weather here this week and I am so looking forward to that!

A Wood Textures Pumpkin for #TTTC019

I love when Thursdays roll around because that means a new Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  The challenge boards NEVER disappoint and ALWAYS provide so much inspiration.  Creating a card for this challenge is such a fun exercise in creativity.  Here’s this week’s board…

I chose the third row across:  fall, pumpkin, autumn and then realized that I also incorporated the third column down: geometric shapes, layers, autumn.

Stampin Up Painted Autumn Wood Textures Thanksgiving Card - Rosanne Mulhern

I’ve seen these pumpkins made with ovals for some time on Pinterest and finally got around to creating one myself. Most of the pumpkin is created using Designer Series Paper.  I’ll break it down in the details below.

Here’s the details

  • The A2 (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) card base is Chocolate Chip card stock.
  • The pattern from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper is cut at 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″ and glued to the left side of the card 1/4″ from the edge.
  • A 5 1/4″ x 2″ piece of Very Vanilla card stock is glued 1/4″ from the right side of the card leaving a 1/4″ space of Chocolate Chip card stock.

Stampin Up Painted Autumn Wood Textures Thanksgiving Card Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern

  • To create the pumpkin, I sponged a pattern from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper with Pumpkin Pie ink.  This was an easy way to give the pumpkin a more realistic look.  The pumpkin stem is hand cut from another pattern from Wood Textures DSP.
  • I then cut three ovals from the Layering Ovals Framelits and layered them with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A pattern from Color Theory DSP is sponged with Pear Pizzazz ink and punched with the Leaf Punch for the leaves.
  • The flourish was cut using a die from My Favorite Things with Crumb Cake card stock.
  • I added the pumpkin to a mat of Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip card stock cut from stitched rectangle dies (non-SU) with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set and is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.

Stampin Up Painted Autumn Wood Textures Thanksgiving Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern

  • The inside sentiment, from the Painted Harvest stamp set is so appropriate for a Thanksgiving card and any card expressing gratitude.  It’s also stamped in Chocolate Chip ink.
  • A little more Designer Series Paper from the Painted Autumn collection is a pretty way to embellish the inside of the card.

  • More DSP on the envelope flap prettily ties everything together.

I’ll add this to my growing collection of Thanksgiving cards as this is one of my favorite holidays to send cards. Who am I kidding, I love to send cards for ANY occasion!

I hope that you’ll head over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge to check out the rest of the Design Team’s wonderful creations.  While you’re there, I also hope that you’ll join in with your own creation!
