Clean & Classic Sympathy Card

Stampin Up Clean & Classic Sympathy Cards Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern

Sympathy cards are not the most enjoyable to make but make a big difference to those who receive them.  I always like to have a few on hand because these are the cards you don’t plan on sending.  I also think they should be somewhat simple and subtle.  But that doesn’t mean they can’t be beautiful as well.  A simple way for me to keep a card “quiet yet elegant” is to make it monochromatic.

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Very Vanilla thick card stock with a mat of Very Vanilla card stock cut 1/8″ smaller and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • A piece of Very Vanilla card stock is cut at 4 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ and a mat of gold foil paper is cut 1/8″ smaller.
  • Before adhering these two pieces together, I stamped the floral image from Touches of Texture stamp set and the sentiment from Flourishing Phrases stamp set in Versa Mark ink and heat embossed them in gold embossing powder.

  • A small piece of 1/8″ gold ribbon is wrapped around the sentiment layer and a small bow attached.
  • This layer is popped on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • The inside sentiment is also from Flourishing Phrases stamp set and coordinates with the sentiment on the front of the card.
  • I stamped it in Soft Suede ink, which is surprisingly close to gold.
  • To give the inside a little more detail, I trimmed the sides of the sentiment layer with some Year of Cheer Washi Tape.  It was so simple to do and created a very classic effect.

  • The front of the envelope is embellished with more Year of Cheer Washi Tape.

This sympathy card was very simple to make and I think makes the perfect statement. And it was easy to make a few to have on hand.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Take care,

An Autumn Jar of Thanks – Paper Players #363

Stampin Up Jar of Love Thank you Thanksgiving Card Ideas- Rosanne Mulhern

I’ve been on a little shaker card kick lately.  I forgot how much fun they are to make and what a interesting card they result in.  So here is one more!

Here’s the details

  • The A2 card base is Soft Suede card stock with a mat of Very Vanilla cut 1/4″ smaller.
  • The DSP panel measures 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ with a mat of Soft Suede card stock cut 1/4″ larger.
  • The pattern is from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper collection.

  • The shaker is created with the Jar of Love stamp set and coordinating Everyday Jars framelits.  I stamped and cut 2 jars with Soft Suede ink and cut the window out of one of the jars using a framelit.  Then cut another jar from a piece of Window Sheet and glued it to the backside of the open faced jar to create the window.  Adding Foam Adhesive Strips to the back jar gave me a little border that allowed me to fill the jar with leaves and sequins before attaching the top jar.
  • I stamped the jar lid in Cherry Cobbler ink and added a Linen Thread bow.
  • The leaves were created by sponging some autumn colors on Very Vanilla card stock and then cutting them out using the small leaf from the Seasonal Layers framelits.
  • HINT…I used mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere some of the leaves so they all wouldn’t fall to the bottom of the jar when the card is upright.  The sequins still move around.
  • The sentiment, from the Sheltering Tree stamp set is stamped in Soft Suede ink.
  • I used a retired square punch to create the flagged ends on both layers and added another small leaf.

  • I’m using this wonderful sentiment from Count My Blessings stamp set again.  This is such a nice saying for so many reasons and the font is terrific too!

I’m going to add this to my collection of Thanksgiving cards to send this year.  I am also entering it into the Paper Player’s sketch challenge….

I hope you have a wonderful Friday and an equally wonderful weekend.  The weather is finally going to cooperate with the season here in PA as we are supposed to have a nice cool weekend.

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Very Vanilla thick card stock cut at 5″ x 5″ with a pattern from the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper cut 1/8″ smaller.
  • The next layer is Pumpkin Pie card stock cut at 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″.  Before creating the shaker, I stamped a couple of mice from the Spooky Cat stamp set in Basic Black Archival ink.
  • To create the shaker, I cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock at 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″.  Using two framelits from the Layering Circles framelits I created the window and the scallop trim.
  • I created a “pocket” using a window sheet and taped it to the back of the pumpkin pie panel and filled it with some halloween colored sequins.
  • Hint:  I also glued a few sequins directly to the DSP so that they all didn’t sink to the bottom of the circle.
  • The cat image is cut from the DSP with the Cat Punch.  I punched another cat in Basic Black and offset it to create a shadow. It’s popped on the card with dimensionals.
  • I finished the cat off with a Linen Thread bow.
  • The banner was created with the Bunch of Banners framelits. and popped with dimensionals.

  • For the leaves I lightly sponged a piece of Very Vanilla card stock with Cajun Craze ink and then cut with a framelit from the Seasonal Layers framelits.  Then using the more intricate leaf framelit, cut three out in Copper Foil and layered both.
