Saying Hello (to someone very special) – Tic Tac Toe Challenge #004

I’m back today with a card from the Floral Statements stamp set.  In my last post, I noted that I’m struggling a little with this set and I’m happy that I kept at it.  Today’s card is my entry in the Tic Tac Toe Challenge…

I chose the right row down: coloring, floral, In-Color Ink.  This challenge is great fun.  I hope you will play along with us!

Here’s the details:

  • The card base is Whisper White thick card stock.  This, as well as the new Very Vanilla thick card stock, make a perfectly sturdy base that really gives cards a quality feel.
  • The patterned layer is from Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paper.  I love a black and white pattern and this has such a pretty, modern feel.  I used this pattern in THIS project, too.  I’m almost out of it and will probably order another pack just to have more on hand.

  • I stamped the image in Basic Black Archival ink on Whisper White card stock and colored it using Flirty Flamingo and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write markers.
  • Again, although it’s not evident in the photo, I added clear Wink of Stella to the flowers for a little bit of sparkle.
  • This layer is mounted on Flirty Flamingo card stock.
  • I wrapped the Basic Black (retired) ribbon and added a bow before popping it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The little embellishments are actually Basic Rhinestone Jewels that were colored with a black sharpie marker.  I’m never sure about the placement of these type of embellishments but I was happy where these landed!

  • Just adding a few pieces of card stock and a bit of Designer Series Paper creates a pretty and interesting area to add a personal note.
  • The envelope is also embellished with some leftover pieces of card stock and DSP.

Struggling with Floral Statements

Stampin Up Floral Statements Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Well, hello!  I guess you can tell by the title of the post that as much as I like this set, I am definitely struggling with designing with it.  This is the first time I’ve used it and was a little intimidated by it.  But sometimes these are the sets that I come to love the most.  So I’m hanging in there with it!

The images are so pretty and unique in this set.

Here’s the details:

  • The card base is a new In-Color, Powder Pink card stock.  I think most soft pinks pair so well with Basic Black card stock.
  • I stamped the image in Versa Mark and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder on a panel of Powder Pink which measures 4 3/4″ x 2 3/4″.
  • The subsequent layers of Basic Black and Gold Foil paper are cut 1/8″ smaller.
  • After gluing the three layers, I popped them with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • Although the gold embossing is quite pretty, the card still need a little something.  So I added a few gold embellishments from the Metallic Enamel Shapes collection.

I’m usually pretty pleased with the cards I make but this one isn’t one of them.  How’s that for honesty!  However, I’m not giving up on this set and I’m working on another card with it…so stay tuned….

Thanks so much for looking in today and have a wonderful day!

Take care,

Rosanne

The Daisies are Back…

I’m sure you’ve heard by now that the Daisy Punch (#143713) is back in stock.  It’s proven to be so popular that it’s been out of stock until now.  In honor of this, today’s cards feature this ever so popular punch.

Stampin Up Daisy Punch Birthday Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

At first glance, these may look like a lot of work.  But honestly the hardest part was punching the little pieces from the leaves after running it through the Big Shot.  The Precision Base Plate helped a lot with cutting those leaves.  As I said above, the star of the show here is definitely the Daisy Punch!

Here’s the details:

  • The card base is Old Olive card stock with a mat of Whisper White.
  • I started out by cutting all the elements.  First, the greenery was cut from the Flourish thinlits in Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz card stock.
  • For each card, I punched 4 daisies from Whisper White card stock and two from So Saffron and Powder Pink card stock.  The Whisper White daisies were sponged in their respective colors. Each daisy has two layers.
  • The centers were punched with the 1/2″ circle punch from Early Espresso card stock.

  • After I made the first card in So Saffron and found that it went rather quickly, I decided to try a different color.  Powder Pink is such a soft subtle color that translated beautifully onto the Daisy.

  • I arranged the daisies on the card first and then tucked the leaves in between.  I  used Tombow glue to adhered everything directly to the Whisper White panel.

  • The sentiment is from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous stamp set.  I flagged the end with a square punch to create the banner.
  • Petal Garden Designer Series Paper had the perfect pattern for the envelope flap.

See easy….right!  I really enjoyed making this card and sharing it with you.

I used the flower pot and flowers on today’s card but I’m anxious to use the wagon and watering can, too.

Here’s the details

  • The card base is Whisper White thick card stock.
  • The next layer is Whisper White regular card stock that I cut with a large (retired) circle die.  The layering circles didn’t have a large enough circle to accommodate the image.
  • After cutting the circle, I used the new Pinewood Planks embossing folder.  This is a super embossing folder that creates deep grooves for a realistic impression.  I popped this panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • The flower image is stamped in Old Olive ink directly on the card base.
  • After stamping it again in Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo ink, the flowers were cut with the framelits and glue over the stamped image.
  • The flower pot was cut using a piece of Color Theory Designer Series Paper.  I really liked the crackled look for the pot.
  • Before adhering the pot with Stampin’ Dimensionals, some Linen Thread was wrapped and tied in a bow.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Garden in Bloom stamp set and is stamped in Flirty Flamingo ink.
  • A couple of flowers are a simple but pretty embellishment.

I hope that you check out all the Tic Tac Toe Design Team creations HERE and join us.

Thanks for stopping by.

Take care,

Rosanne
