It’s a Good Day!

Happy Monday.  I hope it’s a good day!

Stampin Up Whole Lot of Lovely and Best Birds Birthday Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

I know I mentioned this before but I can’t help but tell you again how much I love Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper.  I absolutely fell in love the pattern I used on this card but then this pattern caught my eye and it may be my new favorite!

Here’s the details:

  • The Whisper White thick card stock base measures 5″ x 5″ with a mat of Soft Suede card stock cut 1/8″ smaller.
  • Both panels are patterns from Whole Lot of Lovely DSP with mats of Pool Party card stock.  The striped panel measures 4 1/2″ x 2 1/4″ with the DSP mat 1/8″ smaller.  The floral panel measures 4 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ with the DSP mat cut 1/8″ smaller.
  • The floral panel is popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  • The ribbon wrapped around the floral panel is retired Pool Party cotton ribbon.
  • Layering Ovals framelits cut the Pool Party and Woodgrain ovals.  I used a pattern from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper.  It gives just enough detail!
  • A Whisper White oval was cut with the Stitched Shapes framelits.  These framelits pair so well with the other layering shaped framelits.
  • The sentiment is from the Best Birds stamp set and is stamped in Soft Suede ink.
  • A couple flowers were hand cut from a scrap of the DSP.  I added a bit of Clear Wink of Stella which I wish translated better in the photo.  These were also popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The new mini dimensionals really came in handy here.

  • It’s so easy to embellish the inside of the card as well.  The sentiment is another from the Best Birds stamp set.  Adding a cut out flower and a strip of Designer Series Paper create such a pretty greeting and is a great way to use up scraps from the project.
  • The envelope was created with the Envelope Punch Board and prettied up with more scraps.

Birthday Medallion for Tic Tac Toe Challenge #002

Happy weekend!  This is my “off” week of designing for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, so I  get to have some fun and play along!

Stampin Up Eastern Medallion Birthday Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

The color combination of yellow and gray created such a fresh and modern card.  I was surprised at how much I liked it!  Here’s the challenge board that inspired this card.  I choose the middle row across.

Here’s the details:

  • The card base is Smoky Slate card stock with a mat of Whisper White cut 1/8″ smaller.
  • The next layer is a pattern from the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper.  Believe it or not, this paper has poodles on the other side!

  • The sentiment, from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous stamp set is heat embossed.
  • Eastern Beauty stamp set and Easter Medallion framelits created the pretty flower.  The bottom layer is heat embossed.  The next layer is stamped in Basic Gray Archival ink and the center is also heat embossed.  The embossing gives it a pretty gloss.
  • I have to admit that I wasn’t that excited about this bundle at first but every time I use it I like it so much more.  I can see many new ways to use it to produce different looks.

  • Another sentiment from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous and Designer Series Paper completes the inside.

The Tic Tac Toe challenge is a lot of fun and each board is full of so many options and creative opportunities.  I hope you’ll join in this week.

Stampin Up Eastern medallion and Window Box Birthday - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

I actually achieved two “b’s” with my project today if you count the adorable little bees on the card and the window box.  I love to coordinate a card with a 3D item.  They make such unique little gifts.

Here’s the details:

  • The sweet sunflower was created by cutting and layering one of the Eastern Medallion dies twice…once in Daffodil Delight and once in Crushed Curry card stock.
  • The center is a 2″ circle punched from Basic Black card stock and embossed with the Elegant Dots (retired) embossing folder.

  • The DSP pattern is from Pick a Pattern Designer Series Paperr.  This is my favorite pattern in the collection and I think it pairs well with Crushed Curry card stock.
  • The sentiment is from the Better Together stamp set. This is such a fun and whimsical font.
  • Now let’s talk about my favorite thing on this whole project…the BEES!  These cute little bees can be found in the Touches of Texture stamp set.  It’s funny how such a simple little stamp can make such a difference on a project.  I think they make ALL the difference on this one.
  • I added Clear Wink of Stella to shine up their wings.

  • The inside sentiment is also from the Better Together stamp set.  This is a great set for creating sentiments on both the front and inside of the card since the sentiments coordinate.
  • Again…a few little bees don’t hurt either!

  • The box was created with there Window Box thinlits and I used the Layering Squares to create the windows.
  • That same sunflower fits perfectly on top.
  • A little birthday banner a couple more bees complete the box.  The birthday sentiment is from Happy Birthday, Gorgeous stamp set .

Something to Smile About

Happy Monday…hope you had an enjoyable weekend.  I was finally able to finish planting my vegetable garden.  The tomatoes and peppers will be a little late this year!  I have a little story to share at the end of this post…so please hang in there!

Stampin Up Jar of Love Just Because Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

What a great sentiment from the Eastern Beauty stamp set.  I could send this card to so many people who really do make me smile when I think of them.

Here’s the details…

  • This card measures 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ (smaller than the average A2 card).  It’s scored at 5 1/2″ which leaves a 3″ flap.
  • The patterns are from the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper and as usual compliment each other perfectly…thank you Stampin’ Up!

Stampin Up Jar of Love Just Because Cards Idea - Rosanne MulhernI think this wreath really is something to smile about (but I love most wreaths!)

  • The grapevine wreath is created with the Swirly Scribbles thinlits.  I cut two out of Crumb Cake card stock and layered them.  I was on the fence when these came out last year as a bundle so I only purchased the thinlits and I’ve never regretted that.  My point is that you can “unbundle” if you’re not excited about either the stamps or the dies.
  • The flowers are from Jar of Love stamp set and Everyday Jars framelits.  This is one set that I would never unbundle.  The stamps and dies are fabulous and can be used in so many different ways.  This set needs to stick around a few more years!
  • I stamped the large flowers in Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry and the smaller flowers were stamped off once and then stamped at full color in Tranquil Tide ink.  The leaves are Old Olive.
  • The sentiment is stamped on a circle of Whisper White and glued to the center of a Delicate White Doilie.
  • Mini Stampin Dimensionals worked like a charm on the small flowers.

Stampin Up Jar of Love Cards Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern

  • The inside sentiment is also from the Eastern Beauty stamp set.

Stampin Up Jar of Love Just Because Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

OK..so I don’t know if I mentioned this on the blog but I have a little Dachshund, Tess.  She just turned 18 on June 2nd.  Physically she’s is amazing (thanks to years of acupuncture).  In April, she had 11 teeth extracted and came through it like a champ!

However, within the past 6 months or so we’ve noticed that her mind is failing.  She has what is called Canine Cognitive Disorder.  It’s basically doggie dementia.  There’s been some challenges but she is still the sweetest little girl.  Last weekend my husband had her out in the yard with him while he was doing some work and she walked straight into the swimming pool and started swimming.  Steve’s first reaction was to jump in, shoes and all, to pull her out!  We have the whole episode  recorded on our security camera.  Previous summers she wouldn’t go near the pool.  I guess this year is a whole different story!  This is not a picture of Tess but I couldn’t resist sending it to Steve!

I hope this card started your week off with a smile.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Take care,

Rosanne
