The Beauty of a Butterfly

Stampin Up Butterfly Basics Friendship Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Butterfly Basics has been one of my favorite stamp sets since it came out.  I never get tired of the beautiful images and sentiments in this set.  However, this is the first time I’ve used this particular sentiment, which is particularly thought provoking.

Today’s card is my entry in the Global Design Project #075 theme challenge…

A Touch of Spring

I officially have Spring Fever…which is so much better than having Flu Fever, which I had last week!  What a miserable week but it may have been worse had I not gotten a flu shot.  This week is a whole different story though.  We are experiencing record high temperatures in PA with no sign of winter coming back.

Stampin Up Touches of Texture Birthday Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Today’s birthday card is a pretty nod to spring.

Here’s the details:

  • I let the Designer Series Paper from A Little Foxy DSP Stack dictate the color palette.  Calypso Coral, Whisper White and Basic Black created a pretty and classic combination.

  • The sentiment, from Best Birds stamp set, is cut and layered using Layering Ovals framelits dies and popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • The flowers are from Touches of Texture stamp set.  They’re colored using Stampin’ Write Markers, fussy cut and also popped with Dimensionals.
  • I colored pearls with a black sharpie marker for the flower centers.

Bloomin’ Love Valentine Card and Treat Box

Stampin Up Bloomin Love Valentine card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Today’s project is a cute little notecard sized Valentine and a coordinating slider box holding three chocolate treats.  I’m playing along with the SUO #167 It’s Time for Valentine’s Challenge and Stamp, Ink, Paper #85 Theme challenge…

Here’s the details….

  • The Real Red card base is cut in a notecard (5″ x 3 1/2″) size with the Whisper White layer cut 1/4″ smaller.
  • The pattern from Sending Love Designer Series Paper Stack is cut 1/4″ smaller than the Whisper White layer.

  • Two hearts were cut using the Sweetheart Punch and one embossed with an image from Bloomin’ Love photopolymer stamp set.  This set came out last year and was carried over in the Annual Catalog.  I think it has been a little forgotten with the new set in this year’s Occasions Catalog.  Both sets are wonderful for Valentine’s Day but I think Bloomin’ Love can go well beyond the holiday.

  • The banner was cut from the Large Numbers framelits dies.Stampin Up Bloomin Love Valentine card idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup
  • I created this sweet little slider treat box to hold three chocolate hearts.
  • The box measurements are 3″ x 5 3/4″ and scored at 3/4″ on all four sides.

  • The slider measures 5 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ and is scored on the longer side at 3/4″, 2 3/8″, 3 1/8″ and 4 3/4″
  • You can alter the measurements to fit your exact candy.  The original box tutorial I saw was for Hershey Kisses, so I just reconfigured it to fit these particular chocolates.
  • Sweet and Sassy framelits dies cut the heart opening on the lid and the white heart frame.
  • A window sheet was glued to the back of the hearts.

  • Here’s another one I made using the Love Notes framelits die to cut the arrow in Gold Foil paper.
  • The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed this little Valentine gift.

Take care,

Rosanne

Barnyard Babies for PP #329

Stampin Up Barnyard Babies Baby Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

I haven’t made a baby card in sometime but I’m thinking that is going to change. Along with today’s Barnyard Babies card, I have another one planned this week.  Could there be a reason for this?  Why yes…I am going to be a first time Grandmom!  My youngest daughter, Emily and her husband, Mike are expecting their first child this June.  We will find out what WE are having this weekend…notice how I said WE!  Needless to say, this is very exciting for our family!

Today’s card was inspired by the Paper’s Players fun sketch…

Here’s the Details….

  • The card base is Whisper White with a mat of So Saffron.  The DSP layer is from Tasty Treats Designer Series Paper.
  • The cute little ducks are from the Barnyard Babies stamp set.  I am on a mission to use some of my dusty stamp sets and this one has not seen ink in a very long time!

  • I colored them with Stampin’ Write Markers.
  • After cutting them with the 1″ punch, 1 3/8″ punch and the Layering Circles Framelits, they were popped with dimensionals.

  • The sentiment, from the That’s the Tag stamp set, is stamped in Basic Black and cut using the Decorative Label Punch.  I tucked it under the DSP before gluing.
  • The ribbon is just a 1/4″ white satin ribbon that was just the right size for this card.
  • A few So Saffron enamel dots from the Subtles collection finish off this sweet card.
  • A few strips of DSP and cardstock embellish the envelope.

  • The inside sentiment is from So In Love stamp set.  Isn’t that little chick the cutest?!

Hope this sweet little card made you smile and perhaps made you think about dusting off some of your neglected stamps.  I know that it is so easy to forget about the sets that have been around for awhile, especially when there are so many terrific new sets but they play nicely with the new sets, too!

Take care,

Rosanne
