A Little Christmas Magic for Merry Monday #215

Happy October and Happy World Card Making Day (if you haven’t already heard!).  Wow…a day to do just what most of us probably do several times a week or even on a daily basis.  We certainly don’t need a special day but why not?!

Today, I am entering a new-to-me challenge.  I follow many stampers who make such beautiful Christmas card year-round by participating in the Merry Monday weekly challenge.  Here is this week’s color challenge….

215

While I love the traditional Christmas colors, it is always fun to see something a little different and fresh.  These colors fit that bill.

Here are the Details…

  • The card base is Whisper White thick cardstock with a mat of Flirty Flamingo.
  • The DSP is from the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper Pack…looks like snow to me!
  • To create the winter scene, I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock free hand to look like a snow mound, then ran it through the Big Shot with the Softly Falling embossing folder.
  • The picket fence was created using the Halloween Scenes Edgeless Dies.  I am always happy when I can find additional uses for a holiday product and this was perfect for this card.
  • The sweet little snowman is certainly the star of the card.  He is stamped in Basic Gray Archival Ink and colored just a bit with Stampin’ Write Markers.  I fussy cut and popped him up with dimensionals.
  • The star/snowflake was a happy accident.  It was leftover from a stocking I cut out using the Christmas Stockings Thinlits Dies.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Versa-Mark, embossed in Silver embossing powder and cut using the Layering Ovals Framelits Dies.

  • The inside of the card is stamped with another cute image from the Christmas Magic stamp set and colored with markers.
  • The sentiment is also from the same stamp set.  This set has such sweet images as well as sentiments which make it the “complete package” in my book!

A Bushel and a Peck – PP #313 & SIP #66

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF FALL!

Today’s project is truly off the beaten path for me in several aspects.  Here’s why….the Paper Players’ challenge called for a “taste of Fall” and the Stamp, Ink, Paper challenge was “anything but a card”.  I was a little hard pressed for “edible” fall stamps and I usually don’t post many 3D projects but I really wanted to rise to these challenges.

I recently purchased a few Fall stamp sets from Lawn Fawn and one of them was Thanks a Bushel along with the coordinating dies.  This set is simply adorable….

I love this little basket of apples.  The basket was stamped on a piece of patterned paper and pieced onto the stamped images.  The apples are colored with markers and a blender pen.  The doilie makes such a cute little backdrop for the apples.

Here’s a photo of the apple crate from the back.  I used kraft paper cut at 8″ x 3″ then scored at 2 1/2″ on each side.  The retired word punch cut the handles on each side.  Cut 4 strips at 1″ x 4″ and score at 1/2″ on each side then affix with Tear & Tape adhesive.

As soon as I saw these Hershey’s Carmel Apples at the drug store, I knew I wanted to make an apple crate for them!  I will need to make a few more of these for some special people this Fall!

Hope you are enjoying your first “taste” of Fall today!

A Smiling Heart – GDP #053 & PPA #318

ppa-318-sep15  colour-challenge

It’s a lot of fun combining challenges, especially when you have a fun sketch and a super color combination to work with.  The Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge and the Global Design Project’s color challenge worked so well together on this card.  I hope you agree….

  • The star of this card is the POP of color from the Watermelon Wonder In Color Doilie (#141674).
  • The Layering Circles Framelits (#141705) helped create the medallion along with an image from the Paisleys & Posies stamp set (#142196) and the Paisleys Framelits (#141849).  These are available as a bundle (#143515) for a 10% savings.
  • The sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set (#140712).

  • It’s so easy to add some interest to the inside of a card, especially a blank note, with a bit of DSP.

I hope this card made you smile a bit.

Fall Mums – PPA #317

Today’s card is my entry into the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge…

ppa-317-sep08

Even though it’s still technically summer and pretty hot, Fall is becoming very evident all around here.  One of my favorite things about Fall is Mums.  I love mums and that was the first thing that came to mind when I saw these colors.

stampin-up-grateful-bunch-cards-idea-rosanne-mulhern-stampin-up

  • The Grateful Bunch stamp set(#140691) makes wonderful flowers so I turned them into mums by layering, layering and more layering.  The Blossom Punch (#140612) makes it easy by punching the three smaller flowers out in one punch.  The larger flower was fussy cut twice.
  • Stampin Write Markers in the three challenge colors were used to color each flower.

  • I used Stampin Dimensionals in between several of the layers to create the 3-D effect.  The flowers look like they are blooming right off the card!
  • For a little more interest, I scored the panel with the Simply Scoring Tool.  This is such a simple and easy way to add a little bit of embossing.
  • The sentiment is from the new Paisleys and Posies stamp set (#142196) and is stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink.

  • The inside is embellished with a panel of Moroccan Designer Series Paper (#141645) and cardstock.  The same pattern is used on the envelope flap.

This card will definitely require extra postage but it’s worth it for the WOW factor!

Thanks for looking in today.

Take care,

Rosanne
