A Christmouse Carol – GDP #052

Today I’m playing along with the Global Design Project #052 Case the Designer Challenge. Here is Teneale Williams’ fun sketch….

I decided to make my first Christmas card using the adorable Merry Mice stamp set.  The images in this set are super cute and fun to color.

  • The sheet music DSP is from This Christmas Designer Series Paper Stack (#141628) which is in the Annual Catalog.  It is a lighter weight paper and so easy to work with.
  • The singing mouse image from the Merry Mice stamp set (#142145) is stamped on watercolor paper and colored with ink pads and blender pens.  This was my first attempt at coloring him.  I stamped a few more to try some other color combinations.
  • I added some clear Wink of Stella (#141897) to the stripes on his hat and scarf. It’s a shame it doesn’t photograph well because it really is such a pretty touch.
  • The sentiment is stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink and cut out a banner from the  Bunch of Banners Framelits (#141488).
  • In keeping to the sketch, a bit of bakers twine from the Bakers Twine Trio (#141999) is tied in a side bow.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Hang Your Stocking stamp set (#142114).
  • Since there is always leftover DSP, why not add some interest to the inside of the card, too!

One holiday card down!  With all the awesome new stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog, this year’s cards are going to be so much fun to make and I’m sure I will have them done well ahead of time….maybe!  Do you like to start your holiday cards while it is still technically summer?

Thanks for checking in today and please stop back again.

Layering Love Shaker Card – PP311

Here’s a first for me….A Shaker Card!  I know I’m a little late to the shaker party and really don’t know why it’s taken so long for me to make one of these.  I think I just needed the perfect occasion and this card was for my daughter, Emily’s birthday….

Emily is one of my biggest fans when it comes to card making, so I always try to send her (and all my daughters) really fun cards.

  • The Flirty Flamingo card base measures 4 1/4″ x 11″ and is scored at 2 3/4″ x 5 1/2″.  This is a “Z” fold card and there are a multitude of tutorials out there to follow.
  • The DSP is from the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper Pack (#141660) .
  • I stamped the sentiment, from the Layering Love (#141965) Stamp Set in Real Red ink and cut it out using one of the Layering Circles Framelits Dies (#141705).
  • To create the shaker part I cut the scalloped circle along with another plain circle to create a frame.  The Layering Circles Framelits make is so easy to do this, as there are so many sizes in this collection.  Using a Window Sheet (#142314) and Foam Adhesive Strips (#141825) made it easy to complete the shaker.
  • TIP!  Don’t use too many sequins…I got carried away on one of the cards I made and they were barely able to “shake”.

  • The inside panel is stamped with a sentiment from the Designer Tin of Cards Stamp Set (#141739).  The little flowers are from the Mixed Borders Stamp Set (#141932) which I cut apart to get just these cute little images.
  • The center panel was left blank to write a personal note.

This card was a lot of fun to make and I’m already thinking about the next one! I will be entering this card into The Paper Players theme challenge….

I mentioned above that Emily is one of my biggest fans.  Well I’m also her BIGGEST fan.  She is one special young woman and was recently named a New Jersey Hero by Governor Christie for her work as the Director of the Helen Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children.  Here is the article that appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EMILY!

Thanks for indulging this proud mama!

Take care,

Acorny Thank You – PPA #316

Stampin up Acorny Hello Thank you card ideas - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Remember those cute little acorns?  I pulled them off the shelf and dusted them off for today’s card for the Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge….

PPA-316-Sep01

This was a fun sketch.

  • The card base is Cajun Craze cardstock with a mat of Very Vanilla cut 1/8″ smaller.
  • The Very Vanilla sentiment panel measures 3 3/4″ x 2 1/2″.  The DSP panel is from the Petals & Paisleys Designer Series Paper Pack (#142017) and is cut 3 7/8″ x 2 3/4″.
  • The sentiment from the Tin of Cards stamp set (#138946) is stamped in Dapper Denim ink.  The top and bottom border is a stamp from the Designer Tin of Cards stamp set (#141739).
  • A small In-Color Enamel Shape (#141410) accentuates each border.
  • The trio of acorns, punched with the Acorn Builder Punch (#139681), are cut out in Crumb Cake cardstock.  I sponged the edges with Soft Suede ink for a little more definition.
  • The acorn caps are cut from a pattern in the Moroccan Designer Series Paper Pack (#141645).

  • The inside is embellished with a bit of DSP.  This is a nice touch especially on a blank notecard.

  • The envelope flap, embellished with more DSP completes the card.

It was a lot of fun to create this card and to use the Acorny Hello Stamp Set again.  It’s a great set and can be used in many ways, especially for Fall cards.  It’s easy to forget about “last year’s models” with all the terrific new products in the Holiday Catalog but I was happy to give this set some “ink” time again!

Speaking of the new Holiday Catalog…

If you haven’t already seen it and all the great new products and do not currently have a Demonstrator, I would be happy to send you one.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day.

Happy New Home – PPA #135

Happy Monday…hope you had a wonderful weekend. Today I’m playing along with the Pals Paper Arts color challenge today….

PPA-315-Aug25

This card is for a young couple who recently purchased their first new home.  I remember how exciting that was!

  • The card A2 card base is Dapper Denim cardstock.  To create the look of siding, I used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool(122334).
  • Remember the Hearth & Home Thinlits (#139666)…I almost forgot I had them! They created the double window.

IMG_2351

  • The wreath is a die from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits (#141497).  I cut and layered two of them from Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • The Jar of Love stamp set (#141587) and Everyday Jars Framelits (#141490) take all the credit for the fabulous flowers.  If you don’t already have this set, it’s wonderful.  Buy the Bundle (#142342) and save 10%.
  • The banner and sentiment is from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set (#141614) and is punched with the coordinating Duet Banner punch (#141483).  This is also available as a Bundle (#142330).

  • The inside sentiment is from the Cottage Greetings (#139962) stamp set and is perfect for the occasion.
  • Just a bit of DSP from the 2016-2018 In-Color Designer Series Paper Pack (#141408) and a strip of So Saffron cardstock complete the inside and the envelope flap.

Thanks for checking in on my project today.

Take care,
