She Believed Butterfly

I’m running a little behind with my post today…must be that hour we lost!  I’m certainly not complaining.  Daylight Savings Time is just another indication that spring is coming…soon.  Today’s card is a congratulatory card for a young lady who was just accepted into a very competitive graduate program.Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-03-13-1415)

I am entering this card in the Stamp, Ink, Paper #38 Color Challenge….

SIP-38-Color-Challenge-800

I love this color combination.  For me, I am most comfortable working with softer colors and this combination really spoke to me.

The focal point of this card is the beautiful butterfly from the Watercolor Wings stamp set.  I stamped it in Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand.  The body is stamped with Early Expresso.  I cut it out using the Bold Butterflies Framelits.  Then I sponged a piece of vellum with Blushing Bride ink and cut the layered butterfly from the Butterflies Framelits.  This really seems to give my butterfly “wings” and dimension.

The sentiment, from the Feels Good stamp set, is stamped in Pear Pizzazz and seemed very appropriate for the occasion.  I used a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge set, stamped in Sahara Sand to create a little background along with a little butterfly from the Kinda Electic stamp set.  For this butterfly, I stamped it in Blushing Bride and stamped off twice before I stamped on the card so that it was just a shadow.  Lastly, I used the Blushing Bride Sequin Trim to add a little shine.

The inside sentiment is from the Best Thoughts Hostess stamp set.  If you do not already have this, I would definitely put it on your next order as it probably won’t come back after this Annual Catalog and it is wonderful.  The DSP on the inside and envelope flap is from the Subtles Designer Series Pack and just finishes this card off so nicely.

I know my young friend will really love this card, as she is interested in stamping herself.  I hope that you enjoyed it as well.

Take care,

Rosanne

Birthday Ballerina – GDP #026

The challenge at the Global Design Project is a sketch this week….

Sketch Challenge

My card is for a special little girl’s birthday and I know she will love it as she loves ballet.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-03-10-1842)

I used a newly retired set for this card, Sparkly Seasons which came out in the Holiday Catalog.  I really love the images, especially the snow globe and intend to hang unto this set.

Watermarked Photo 5 (2016-03-10-1843)

I embossed the white circle with another retired embossing folder and then used Blushing Bride glitter paper behind it for a hint of sparkle.  The ballerina is fussy cut and adhered with dimensionals.  I also added another layer to her skirt with dimensionals to make it puffier.  I did put some Wink of Stella on her tutu but you really can’t see it that well in the photo.  The banner is stamped on vellum that I first sponged with Blushing Bride ink.  I stamped it in Versa Mark and embossed it with silver embossing powder and used the Large Number Framelits to cut the banner out.  It is finished off with a few sequins from the Blushing Bride Sequin Trim.

The inside sentiment is from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set and the stars are from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set.  This set is great for little background stamps.  If you have it, check it out!  The envelope is lined with a sheet from the Subtles DSP pack.

If you have a dancer in your life, this is the perfect little card!

Thanks for stopping in today….enjoy your Friday!

Best Thoughts for CYCI #110

I hope that you are enjoying a little taste of spring like we are in PA.  The last few days have been fantastic and they promise there are more to come.  It’s no wonder my cards are all leaning towards flowers!

I am entering this card in Can You Case It’s sketch challenge….

CYCI110

The large hydrangea bloom in this set is awesome and makes a big impact on a card.  I stamped the flower in Versa Mark and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then colored it using Wisteria Wonder ink and a blender pen.  This is becoming my favorite way to color, especially on embossed images.  The leaves were colored using Pear Pizzazz ink.  To give it a little sparkle, I used some Dazzling Details on the petals.

Watermarked Photo 4 (2016-03-09-0823)

The sentiment is stamped in Perfect Plum and is from the Sheltering Tree stamp set and the little polka dot banner is from the Subtles DSP pack.   The background DSP is from the Farmer’s Market DSP collection and adds a little bit of rustic appeal.  I used a circle die from the Circles Collection Framelits and a Tea Lace Doilie to frame the flower.  The cardstock is Wisteria Wonder.

The inside sentiment is also from the Sheltering Tree stamp set.  I used the same Subtles Designer Series Paper stack for the inside of the card and the envelope liner.

Again, this is a card that could be used for many different occasions.  I always like to have a few of these on hand and ready to mail.  I am going to make a few more and experiment in other color hydrangeas.  I particularly like the blue shades.

Thank you for checking in on my project today and I hope this card brought a little bit of springtime to your day, even if the weather is not.

Birthday Memo

Today I have a simple card that really took a lot of thought.  This type of card is way out of my comfort zone but I really like how it turned out.

I wanted to participate in the Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenge this week.  But when I saw the challenge, I was totally stumped for most of the week.  I just thought I would skip this week but something kept nagging me to try.  Here is the challenge….and this was a CHALLENGE!

SIP-Challenge-37-Wood-Cork-Felt-800

Inspiration struck when I went through my stash of random scrapbook paper that I haven’t used in a long time.  There was a piece of paper with a cork bulletin board.  So I made my card a bulletin board.  The challenge just says cork doesn’t say it has to be real.  The “memo” stamp is a random stamp I had and the little push pin and the paper clip are from a clear set that I purchased awhile ago.  The sentiment on the front is from the Suite Sayings stamp set and the inside sentiment is from the Tin of Cards stamp set.  The graph paper is another piece from a little 6 x 6 pad.

It’s amazing how something can come together so quickly when you get out of your own way sometimes.  I am also happy to have this card on hand as I do not create many masculine cards and do need to send them from time to time.

Thanks so much for checking in today and have a wonderful rest of the weekend.
