Butterfly Blues

Today’s card share was inspired by a really different and challenging (I thought) sketch at the Pals Paper Arts weekly challenge.

PPA-292-Mar17

As you can see, there is a lot going on with this sketch, thus the challenge to incorporate all the elements.  Here is what I came up with….

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-03-21-1501)

Again, I used the Watercolor Wings stamp set as the focal point.  Since finally pulling this set off the shelf, I just cannot seem to get enough of it.  I stamped the wings in Pool Party and Lost Lagoon and the body in Early Expresso.  Then I stamped the butterfly image from the Butterfly Basics stamp set on vellum in Tip Top Taupe and cut both images out using the Bold Butterfly Framelits.  I like the lacy effect the vellum layer gives it.

Watermarked Photo 3 (2016-03-21-1502)

The lace is the Tip Top Taupe Dotted Lace trim and the DSP is from two different collections.  The top is from the In-Color Designer Series Paper Stack and the bottom is from the 6 x 6 stack, Cherry on Top.  I used the Circle Collection Framelits to cut the mats for the butterfly.  The cardstock is Tip Top Taupe and Lost Lagoon.  The sentiment is from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set and is punched using the Scalloped Oval Punch.

The inside sentiment is from the Garden In Bloom stamp set.

After a lot of trial and error with this sketch, I think this card will satisfy it.  I hope it satisfies you, too!

Thanks for checking in today and please stop by again….soon.

Happy Hello

I had a lot of fun creating this card.  It has so many of my favorite elements.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-03-17-1731)

Two challenges were the inspiration for this card.  First, Can You Case It #111 is a color challenge and the colors were my choice…now that’s fun! Secondly, Stamp, Paper, Ink challenge this week is a terrific sketch.

CYCI111-300x226   SIP-Sketch-Challenge-39-800-768x994

The first thing I choose was the colors and patterns.  The patterns are from Graphic 45’s Home Sweet Home collection.  I love the vintage feel of these papers.

Watermarked Photo 3 (2016-03-17-1732)

The sentiment is from the Tin of Cards stamp set.  I cannot tell you how many times I have used this set.  The sentiments along with the font are my favorites.  I then stamped the large flower from the Flower Shop stamp set and the small flowers from the Petite Petals stamp set.  The large flower is colored with Cherry Cobbler ink and a blender pen and the small flowers are stamped in Crushed Curry and colored the same way. The flowers are punched with the Pansy Punch and the Petite Petals Punch. I doubled each flower and popped them up with dimensionals.  I also added a black candy dot to each center.  The leaves are punched with the Bird Builder Punch.

The inside is embellished with some patterned paper and a few little flowers.  I left it blank for a personal note.

The front of the envelope is also stamped with a few of the flowers from the Petite Petals stamp set and the flap is decorated with some patterned paper.  I think embellishing the envelope makes it much more fun to open.

I hope you enjoyed this “happy” card today and will stop back again very soon.

Take care,

Rosanne

Bold & Beautiful Bloom

My card share today is inspired by the Paper Players #286 Color Challenge and the Global Design Project’s Theme Challenge…

pp286   GDP027 Thank you

The color combination is wonderfully bold so I set out to make a card that would do justice to these colors.

Right now I am still a little obsessed with the large flower from the Birthday Blooms stamp set in the Occasions Catalog.  I just see so many reasons to stamp this flower!  The card base is Basic Black.  The DSP panel is from the Cherry on Top 6 x 6 DSP pack and the cardstock is Bermuda Bay.  The sentiment is from the One Big Meaning stamp set in the Annual Catalog.  I really love the font on this particular stamp.  I used a piece of retired Calypso Coral ribbon and black candy dots for accents.

But the star of the card is the lovely blooms.  They were stamped on Calypso Coral cardstock with Versa Mark and heat embossed with black embossing powder…no coloring required but the result is quite stunning.  I plan on trying this with some other colors.  I then fussy cut just the large flowers and adhered them with dimensionals. I should also mention that I stamped the Thank You sentiment the same way as it really gives it a nice shine on the Bermuda Bay cardstock.

The inside is simply embellished with a bit of DSP and another stamp from the Birthday Blooms set.

Thanks for stopping by and please come back again soon.

Simply a Bowl of Cherries

Hi there….it’s a cold and rainy day here today but I didn’t let that dampen my spirits when I was making this card.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-03-14-1120)

I am playing along with Freshly Made Sketches #227 and the Pals Paper Arts #291 Color Challenge today.

FMS227   PPA291-Mar10-300x208

To me, the sketch called for a clean and simple card.  However, the colors proved a bit of a challenge.  I wasn’t sure where to go with the Pool Party but when I was finished with it, the Pool Party was the perfect accent color….who knew?  I guess Mary did when she put these colors together!

Watermarked Photo 2 (2016-03-14-1120)

This little bowl of cherries is one of my favorite images.  It is from the Giggle Greetings stamp set and I have a feeling it probably won’t be around too much longer.  I love the sentiment that goes with it but only choose to use the top half of it.  When I show you the inside sentiment, you will know why.  So I had to mask off the bowl of cherries and the sentiment below it and just stamp the top sentiment on a piece of 2 x 2 Whisper White cardstock.  Then I stamped the image again and colored the bowl with Cucumber Crush and the cherries with Watermelon Wonder ink using a blender pen.  I also added a bit of Daffodil Delight to the bowl.  To finish it off, but it is difficult to see in the photo, I added Crystal Effects to the cherries for some shine.  I then just cut out the bowl of cherries and adhered it with dimensionsals.

Watermarked Photo 3 (2016-03-14-1120)   Watermarked Photo 4 (2016-03-14-1121)

The inside sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set in the Occasional Catalog.  The sentiments in this set are terrific for so many different occasions.  I chose to stay positive with this card…no pits here!  The DSP is from the Cherry on Top 6 x 6 DSP pack.

This card, despite being very clean and simple, is so very cheerful.  It put me in a good mood making it on this very dreary day.  Although, I can honestly say, stamping on a dreary day (or any day) makes me extremely happy!  I hope it gives you a little smile too!

Until next time…take care,

Rosanne
