Everything Eleanor – For YOU

Today’s card is using one of my favorite stamp sets.  I really love this set but for some reason have not used it in a long time.

I am entering this card in two challenges.  The Global Design Project’s color challenge and Freshly Made Sketches weekly sketch challenge.

Colour Challenge  FMS Final 226-001

Combining a color and sketch challenge is really fun.  I really like how these colors translated into a card.  There is something rather stunning about the bright yellow against the muted grays.

I used the Boho Chic embossing folder as a centerpiece.  The flowers are stamped on Whisper White and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  Then they were colored with Daffodil Delight ink using a blender pen.  I really enjoy coloring on a embossed image as it is so easy to stay in the lines. The flowers were cut using paper snips.  I tried to get as close to the embossing as I could.   I also heat embossed the sentiment which is from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.

I heat embossed the flower once again on the inside.

This is another card that could be used for many occasions.

Thanks once again for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed this card.

Better Get Better

Today I have a get well card to share.  I haven’t had to make one of these in a while but this one is going to someone very special who has been under the weather for a little while now.

I also took this opportunity to play along with Can You Case It color challenge #109.

CYCI109-300x230

My colors are Whisper White, Daffodil Delight and Tempting Turquoise.  I cannot remember the last time I made something with Tempting Turquoise, so this was a nice combination to work with.

Watermarked Photo 4 (2016-03-03-1605)

There is a lot of texture and dimension in this card.  Firstly, the card size is 5 x 5 square.  The embossing folder is not SU, it is just a random folder I have but really fit the bill for this card.  Due to the size of the card, I could not emboss the whole card because the folder was not big enough.  So to improvise, I left a small portion of the bottom smooth.  The sentiment, from the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set fits perfectly in this area.  I heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

I also tried something new with this card.  After cutting the teapot with the Cups & Kettle framelits with DSP (retired), I cut it again with Fun Foam and mounted the two together.  It really gives the teapot a lift.  I also cut some little hearts with Fun Foam from the Mini Treat Bag thinlits to look like they are coming from the pot.

Just a little note inside.  The envelope was made with the Envelope Punch Board and embellished on the flap.

I think this card would make someone feel a little better, at least while opening and reading it.

All the products I used are listed below.

Thanks for looking in today.  Please come back soon.

A Couple of Cuppas

Happy March to you.  Even though this February is a short month even on a leap year, the month was a little too long around here.  I am happy that March has arrived and brought some warmer weather with it.

I am playing along with the Paper Players sketch challenge today….

pp284

I had fun with this sketch and here is what I came up with….

Watermarked Photo (2016-03-02-1438)

Being an avid tea drinker for most of my life, I was sold on the Nice Cuppa stamp set and the Cups & Kettles dies as soon as I saw them.  I think I would describe this card as “quaint”.  Whenever I think of tea that’s what always comes to mind.  I choose the background DSP for the same reason.

Watermarked Photo 2 (2016-03-02-1439)

I die cut the cups and then embossed them with the Elegant Dots embossing folder for a little more texture.  The little flowers are die cut from Baby’s First Framelits and the Tree Builder Punch.  I really like that you can use framelits and punches on so many different projects.  They are so not limited to their coordinating stamp sets, that’s for sure.  Pearls are added to the center of the flowers.  The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.

When I went to embellish the inside of the card, I intended to leave it blank to write a personal note.  But I still like to put some matching DSP on the inside.  Well that little piece of DSP is all I had left of this particular pattern….that’s it.  So I had to make due!  The little stamped heart is from A Nice Cuppa stamp set.

I’ve listed all the products I used on this card below.  If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Wonderful Watercolor Wings

I hope your weekend went well.  They always go fast, that’s for sure.  We had a beautiful weekend and today was a taste of spring for sure and this card reflects my anticipation of spring.

I am playing along with the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge this week.

FMS Final 225-001

Again, I am almost embarrassed to say that I have had the Watercolor Wings stamp set for a good long while and this is the first time I’ve used it.  I think I was a little intimidated by it.  Well that’s no longer the case.  This set is fantastic and the color combinations are endless.

Watermarked Photo 3 (2016-02-28-1638)

This is a multi-step stamp.  The colors I used are Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral and Watermelon Wonder.  I cannot take credit for coming up with this color combination.  I watched a You Tube Video by Patty Bennett where she presented many beautiful color combinations for this set and this was one of them. You can see that video here.  The banner, from the Number of Years stamp set is stamped in Versa-Mark and embossed in white embossing powder.  This banner has a coordinating die in the Large Numbers Framelits.  The stamp set and framelits are available as a bundle for a 15% discount…bundles are wonderful.  The sentiment is from a retired set, Express Yourself.  I usually hang on to the retired sentiment sets.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-02-28-1637)   Watermarked Photo 4 (2016-02-28-1638)

The inside sentiment is from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and the DSP is a pattern from Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper.  I used a retired piece of DSP for the envelope flap. Lining the envelopes is a great opportunity to use up retired paper.  I know that I am somewhat hesitant about using the new patterns just for envelopes and the retired paper still coordinates beautifully.

I have listed all the colors and supplies used on this project below.  Mostly everything, except the retired items are available in my online shop.

Thank you for looking in today and I hope this project reminded you of the warmer days of spring ahead.
