Boots, Class & Sass – PP#289

Happy Thursday…almost there…to the weekend that is.  I am a bit excited to share my card today.  Usually when I participate in challenges, it take awhile for me to decide upon a stamp set to use.  NOT THIS TIME!  When I saw The Paper Players theme challenge this week, I knew exactly which set I was going to reach for….

pp289

A “Western” theme would have been a big problem for me.  However, I do own ONE western themed set and have never used it until now.  I bought this stamp set called Boots, Class and a Lil’ Sass awhile ago when a stamping friend told me about a great sale going on at Unity Stamps.  A great sale and a great stamp set….who could pass that up?  So pardon me for straying from my Stampin’ Up! roots this time…….

I just fell in love with this boot full of flowers.  I have a special niece and grand niece who are cowgirls through and through, so this is who I had in mind when purchasing this set.  However, after making this first card, I am thinking that cowgirls or not, a few of my female family members and friends will be seeing this beautiful boot!  After all, they all do have more than a little “sass”!

I used copic markers to color this image and added a bit of Wink of Stella (even though it is not evident in the photo) to the boot decoration.  It does really shine on the card!  I am still relatively new to copic markers so I do stray from the lines a bit, it is especially evident when the photo is enlarged.  Just another reason to keep creating and coloring…it’s all in the name of improvement…right?

I did reach for SU’s Birthday Blossoms stamp set for the inside sentiment.  The DSP was from my random stash, but I thought is really had country charm.

I know my niece will be delighted with this card, as she really is the only true country girl in our family of city slickers!

Thanks so much for checking in today.  I do have a special going on for the month of April.  Any order placed on my online store or through email for $50 or more (before tax & shipping) will receive a package of Basic Pearls and a handmade card from me.

Thanks again and until next time,

Rosanne

Congrats to You – CYCI #114

Congrats to you for making it to mid-week!  Today I am playing along with the Can You Case It #114 sketch challenge….

CYCI114

As you can see, it is a positively lovely sketch.  I stayed very true to the entire sketch right down to the flower border.

I am definitely a “neutrals” kind of girl. One look in my closet tells you that!  But I love pairing neutrals with soft colors as I did in this card.  The DSP is from the Neutrals DSP stack in Crumb Cake.  I added the faux lace border, also stamped in Crumb Cake, from the Grateful Bunch stamp set.  I had entirely overlooked this stamp in that set up until now.  Once I stamped it on this card, I thought of so many other ways to use it.  I have made a promise to myself:  from now on I am going to try to use every stamp in a set at least once.  I think we see so many samples of card using just the main stamps and forget about all the other great stamps in each set.  I stamped the sentiment in a shade darker, Soft Suede, to make it more pronounced on the card.  This sentiment is from the Tin of Cards stamp set.

The flowers and leaves, from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set, are stamped in Soft Suede and colored with Blushing Bride, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz ink and a blender pen.  The flowers were a cinch to cut using the Pansy punch and I fussy cut the leaves.  They are popped up with dimensionals.  I did add Wink of Stella to the flower petals, although it is not really evident in this photo. It really give the petals such a pretty shimmer.

The inside sentiment is from a random set in my stash.  I used this sentiment because I will be using this as a bridal shower card and thought it was appropriate.  Again, there is that lace border!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Please remember that during April I am offering a set of Basic Pearls with any order over $50 (before tax and shipping) along with a handmade card.

Until next time,

Rosanne

Be-YOU-tiful Bloom

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. It’s so chilly and windy here in PA today that it is hard to believe it is actually April.  But this card reminded me that it is truly spring even if the weather doesn’t.

I followed the sketch at the Pals Paper Arts challenge this week…..

PPA-294-Mar31

The beautiful hydrangea from the Best Thoughts hostess stamp set is so pretty anyway you color or embellish it.  For this card, I chose to stamp the image in Versa Mark and heat emboss it with white embossing powder.  Then I colored it with Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz ink and a blender pen.  This is my favorite coloring method.  After coloring the bloom, I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the petals for a little sparkle.

The DSP is from the Love Blossoms 6×6 stack and the embossing folder I used is the Elegant Dots folder.

Both the inside and front sentiments are from the Flower Patch stamp set.  The sentiment on the front of the card is also stamped in Versa Mark and heat embossed.

I think this card would also make a wonderful Mother’s Day card if you just changed the inside sentiment.

Thanks so much for checking my project today….enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Rosanne

Wedding Gift Card Holder

With wedding season coming up, I was happy to participate in Stamp, Ink, Paper’s theme challenge this week.  You guessed it, the theme is weddings!

SIP-Challenge-41-Weddings-800

My wedding gift of choice is almost always a check for the new couple, so I decided to make a gift card or money holder.  These are always great to have on hand.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-04-01-1915)

I used the fabulous Mini Treat Bag Thinlits to create the “envelope” for this card.  It makes a card look like a present, which I love!  The bag was made using the Love Blossoms DSP from the Occasions Catalog.  This color combination of Crumb Cake and White is one of my favorites.  The tag is created using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch embossed with the Happy Hearts embossing folder.  I used the Bow Builder punch to create the bow.  Both the bow and the tag were created with Shimmery White cardstock.  The heart was punched with the Sweetheart punch in Crumb Cake cardstock. The sentiment is from my stash and cut from Dazzling Details Glimmer Paper.

Here is the inside of the card…the sentiment is from the Cottage Greetings stamp set.

I think this project makes a really pretty presentation for a wedding gift.

I so appreciate your stopping by today and hope you enjoyed this project.  Remember that during the month of April any order of $50 or more (before tax & shipping) receives a special gift from me.  I will send you a set of Basic Pearls and a handmade card.  In order to receive these, please make sure to include your contact information when placing your order.  I can only thank you if I know who you are and I definitely want to thank YOU!

Until next time….happy stamping,

Rosanne
