A Bold Thank You

Today I am playing along with Can You Case It #115 color challenge.

CYCI115-300x244

These colors reminded me of back to school but that’s not where this card went!  I decided that since these were three very bold colors, a bold and striking card was called for.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-04-12-1838)

I really like the goemetric and modern feel of this card.  This is a style I find more difficult but I must say that this card came together surprising quickly.

Watermarked Photo 3 (2016-04-12-1839)

The card base is Basic Black with a Whisper White mat.  The black strips are cut to 1/4″ wide and about 8″ long.  The first strip I glued was the one on the top left corner.  Then I took another 1/4″ strip and just placed it next to the first one but did not adhere it.  I used this strip as a spacer to make sure my spaces were even in between strips.  After all the strips were glued, I put the card back on my paper cutter and trimmed the excess.

The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch stamp set and is one of my favorite flower stamps in the whole catalog.  It is stamped twice and colored with Real Red ink and a blender pen. Then punched using the Fun Flower punch. I stamped another flower just so I could use the center, which is colored with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write marker and fussy cut. The sentiment is from the Tin of Cards stamp set.

The inside is embellished with a little bit of DSP from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Pack and Real Red cardstock.

This card could easily be adapted for almost any occasion and would certainly make a bold statement!

Circle of Spring Thank You – PPA #295

Happy Sunday…and it is a SUNNY day here today after our snowy Saturday.

My card share today was inspired by the Pals Paper Arts #295 color challenge.  I must admit that these colors were a bit of a challenge….

PPA-295-Apr07

I really like the color combination but was a little stumped on which stamp set to use.  So after trying a few that just didn’t work, this is what I came up with…

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-04-08-1507)

The card base is Very Vanilla with a mat of Bermuda Bay.  The next layer is the Hardwood stamp, in Crumb Cake ink, on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.

Watermarked Photo 2 (2016-04-08-1507) The wreath, from the Circle of Spring stamp set, is stamp in Basic Black Archival ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and cut using the Wonderful Wreath framelits.  I colored the leaves and flowers with Bermuda Bay and Cucumber Crush Stampin’ Write markers.  The little flowers with the pearl centers were punched using a dollar bin punch I found at Michaels.  It fits perfectly over the flower on the wreath.  Before adhering the wreath with dimensionals, I put a small pencil make in the center of the wreath.  Then I stamped the sentiment, also from the Circle of Spring set, in Versa Mark and heat embossed it with black embossing powder.

The inside sentiment is from the Lovely Amazing You stamp set, which is not in the catalog but is still available.  The DSP on the inside of the card and the envelope is from the Cherry On Top 6 x 6 stack.

I am always amazed at where I start on a challenge and how the actual card comes about.  Most times it is really an evolution!

I’m happy you stopped by today and hope that you have a wonderful rest of the weekend.

Until next time,

Rosanne

Hot Diggity Dog Birthday

Wow…what a day it’s been here today…3″ of snow when only rain was predicted.  We had mulch delivered yesterday and now it looks like one of those huge mountains of parking lot snow in our driveway.  It was still a good day, as I helped a friend make announcements for her daughter’s college graduation.  They really turned out great and we were both very pleased with them.

Today I am playing along with The Challenge #67 sketch challenge.  This was a fun sketch to work with too.

New Banner-012

Here is my interpretation of the sketch

I recently saw this adorable set from Newton’s Nook on another stampers blog and absolutely had to have it.  I am one of those crazy dachshund lovers….there I said it!  I have had one of these spunky little dogs for the past 17 years…the SAME dog. Tess is 17 and still going…sometimes going strong, sometimes not so strong, but still loving life!  I will share some pictures at the end of this post.

This set is called Delightful Doxies and it is a lot of fun.  I was so excited to use it on this card.

The sentiment on the front of the card is from SU’s Remembering Your Birthday stamp set and the inside sentiment is from SU’s Hot Diggity Dog stamp set.  The embossing folder is Decorative Dots and the DSP is from my random stash.

Here is my darling little old lady….

Thanks for Being You

Happy Friday…hope you are looking forward to a fun weekend.  We are supposed to get a little snow here in PA tomorrow…Happy Spring!

I am always happy when I can combine challenges and today I am playing along with the Global Design Project #030 sketch challenge and the Stamp, Ink, Paper #42 color challenge.

Sketch Challenge  12932602_10153469088358531_2678239175792347527_n

Both the sketch and the color combination lends itself to so many possibilities.  The colors are so soothing and quite lovely together….

Watermarked Photo 1 (2016-04-08-1502)

The flower is from the Flower Patch stamp set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and cut using the coordinating Flower Fair Framelits.

Watermarked Photo 2 (2016-04-08-1503)

Here you can see that I layered the flowers using a dimensional in between the largest and middle flower and then used another dimensional to put the whole flower on the card.  The Night of Navy panel is embossed with a retired embossing folder.  The sentiment, which is stamped in Night of Navy ink, is from the Suite Sayings stamp set.  And of course since I have them, I used a few of the Bermuda Bay sequins from the sequin trim.  Following the sketch, I added the sweet little Tea Lace doilie underneath the middle panel.  The background DSP is from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.

Since this is a Thank You note, I left the inside blank for a personal note.  You could easily change the sentiment and this card could be a birthday, thinking of you, hello, get well, congratulations…almost any occasion.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Don’t forget about my April special of a set of Basic Pearls and handmade card from me for any $50 or more order (before tax & shipping).  And please be sure to include your information when ordering so I can also send you a thank you note.
