FaBOOlous Treats

Today I am participating the the Stamp Ink Paper Tic Tac Toe Challenge.  This was a lot of fun and came together very easily since I am wrapping up my Halloween cards and treats for this year.  It was the perfect opportunity to sneak one more in!  Here is the grid we had to follow.

SIP-Tic-Tac-Toe-19-800

I choose to take a diagonal route and make a Halloween project on patterned paper using sequins.

This treat holder came together super fast using the Square Pillow Box Die.  I cut the window with the Tags and Labels Framelits.  These are so useful and a really great value as you get 13 layering dies in this set.  I used two of them to make the window and the frame.  The frame is made from the black glimmer paper.  After the box was made the fun really started when I embellished it.

Since these treats will be going to my grown daughters, I didn’t want to make them too childish.  Although as long as there was chocolate, I am sure childish would have been just fine, too!  And since I think my girls are fabulous anyway, this sentiment was perfect.  The dies for the hat and wand are from the Boo to You Framelits. The hat is backed with a Spider Web doilie for a little more drama because you know with having three daughters there was always a lot of drama!  The sentiment is from the Six Sayings hostess set and heat embossed in black embossing powder and then fussy cut.  I “blinged” the hat and wand with some rhinestones.  The sequins I used are just some random ones I had.

I think my girls will enjoy this little treat as much as I enjoyed making them.

Thanks very much for stopping by.  I welcome your comments or would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

PPA 272 – They’re Watching You

The challenge this week at Pals Paper Arts is a simple enough looking sketch.  However, sometimes these present the biggest challenge!

PPA272

Since I haven’t made many Halloween projects yet and I have purchased a few Halloween stamp sets, I figured I should put some to work.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-10-19-0752)

The stamp set is Among the Branches from the Holiday catalog.  This set is a little surprising.  It has 13 photopolymer stamps that cover Fall, Halloween and Christmas and is very inexpensive.  To make it an even better value, it can be bundled with the Woodland Textured Embossing folder, which I also used on this card.  To create the background, I sponged Crumb Cake ink on the folder and ran it through the Big Shot.  The sentiment is from the Seasonal Frame Thinlits and is cut out on Black Glimmer paper.  I also a little glitter to the cut out bird on the branch.

Watermarked Photo 3 (2015-10-19-0754)

Since I did not have an appropriate Halloween sentiment for the inside, I cut out BOO from the Boo to You Framelits.  I think that is enough to say, especially with the ghost from the Happy Haunting Designer Series paper.

I lined the envelope with the same DSP to finish this “not really that spooky” card off.

Thanks so much for checking in on my project.  I welcome any comments or would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Have a wonderful day,

GDP #006 – A Butterfly Birthday

I am sorry to say that I was a little late to the party this week for the Global Design Project sketch challenge.

GDP006

I really did have the card done in time, however never got around to posting it.  So here is my take on this fun sketch.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-10-18-1033)

As you can see, I stayed very true to the sketch.  The star of this card is the Butterfly which I stamped with the Butterfly Basics stamp set and cut out using both the Butterflies Thinlits and the Bold Butterfly Framelits which coordinate beautifully to make a 3D butterfly.  The sentiment is from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set. The card base is Very Vanilla cardstock and the Designer Series paper is from the Pretty Petals DSP Stack, which is a 6″ x 6″ stack of wonderful designs.  I am actually almost through using a whole pad of this paper, which rarely ever happens for me.  Since the whole front of the card is DSP, I also cut a piece of Old Olive cardstock to adhere the DSP to in order to make it a little sturdier when I popped it with dimensionals on the Very Vanilla base.  The banner is Very Vanilla and Calypso Coral cardstock.

For a little extra embellishment, I added some pearls to the butterfly body as well as the end of the sentiment.

Here is the completed card on the inside and the embellished envelope.

PPA #271 – A Happy Heart

Time for another Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge.  The colors this week are a great combination and include one of my favorite Stampin’ Up! colors…Hello Honey.  This is an In-Color that is due to retire at the end of the annual catalog.  In my opinion, it really needs to stick around.  But I will definitely be using it as much as possible before then and probably after too!

10-08-PPA271

This card came together very fast once I determined that there was a Designer Series Paper that included each of these colors in the same pattern.  It kind of felt like cheating a little…….

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-10-12-1456)

The DSP is from the English Garden collection in the annual catalog and this is just one of the beautiful patterns.  Sometimes with the Designer Series Papers there are one or two patterns that I know I will never use but not with this one.  I will probably go through a few packages before they retire.  This particular pattern makes me happy so I chose a happy sentiment.  This one is from the Lovely Amazing You stamp set, which is not in any catalog, but can still be ordered.  I’ve included the ordering number in the product scroll below.  I also used a piece of DSP from the 2014-2016 In Color Paper Stacks.

I wasn’t sure what orientation, I wanted the card to be, so I created one each way.  Honestly, I still don’t know which I like better.  I think this card works well both ways.

The inside of the card is stamped with another sentiment from the same set and a flower from the Garden in Bloom stamp set.  This set coordinates so well with the DSP.  The front of the envelope is also stamped and the flap is covered in DSP to give it a truly custom look.
