Merry Pillow Box

Playing along with the Global Design Project again this week and the challenge is Christmas.  So many possibilities…..

GDP011 Theme - Christmas

While I do love making and sending cards, I especially love making 3D gifts to personally hand out.  So that’s what I thought I would make for this challenge.

For my little gift, I used so many of my favorite products from the Holiday catalog.  First, the fabulous Square Pillow Box Thinlits Die is such a versatile die that I have used many times since purchasing it.  This die is scheduled to retire with the Holiday catalog but will still be working hard in my craft room!  It made such a pretty box using red foil cardstock.   However, I think the star of the project is the beautiful wreath from the Peaceful Wreath stamp set.  This wreath is really easy and fast to color, not to mention relaxing too.  I used some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details on the berries to give it a little more sparkle.  Lastly, the sentiment is from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits Die.  I did use a die from the Circles Collection Framelits to cut a window and used a window sheet so my matching Hershey Kisses would show.

I think this is literally such a sweet gift that would be sure to please anyone.  What I like most is how people who do not enjoy this fantastic hobby, are so impressed by these little projects.  But we all know how much fun they are to make, too!

I have so many more ideas for this Pillow Box, so I  better get on that…..stay tuned!

Thanks for checking in on my project today.  Hope you enjoyed it!

PPA #275 – Beautiful Bunch Note

The challenge this week at Pals Paper Arts is a very autumnal color combination.

11-12-PPA275

Despite these colors reminding my of Autumn, I chose a general card theme for my entry.  This is a simple card with no sentiments that can be used for any number of occasions.  I like to have a few of these around…just in case.

The centerpiece of this card is the flower stamped in Blackberry Bliss from the Beautiful Bunch stamp set.  I stamped the center using the same set in Tangelo Twist and punch it out with the 7/8″ scalloped punch.  My layout is pretty straightforward and I used DSP from the In-Color Designer Series Paper Stacks.  However, the Blackberry Bliss is from last year’s retired stack.  The ribbon is also last year’s Tangelo Twist ribbon.

I added a few rhinestones for a little added sparkle and they seem to do just the trick on this card.  I love how something so simple makes the card a little more special.  The flower and the center are both popped up with dimensionals.

I left the inside blank but embellished it with a little DSP.  The envelope is lined with some DSP using the Envelope Liners Framelits.  These quick little enhancements really complete a project and truly customized it.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed this “any occasion” card.  I appreciate your comments and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Winter Wonderland for GDP#010

The sketch for this week’s Global Design Projects weekly challenge was really fun to interpret.

GDP010 Sketch

My first inclination with this sketch was to use the Hearth & Home Thinlit Dies and create a window scene.  But I wanted to challenge myself by not doing that and trying to come up with a more unique design.

I also wanted to use the Wonderland stamp set, primarily because I love the sentiments and the fonts in this set.  However, the main reason I purchased this set was for the antlers….but I still haven’t used them.  I thought that they might work on this card but decided on the pine cones to coordinate with the Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP.  This paper is really glossy making it quite beautiful in gold and black.

The card is very elegant looking with the Gold Glimmer paper and gold embossing on the stamped images. After gluing all the pieces onto the front of the card and before popping the pine cone image with dimensionals, I put a black oval underneath the image so that when it was popped up there would be a hint of black underneath.  It is very subtle but does make a difference.   I used the sentiment from Wondrous Wreath stamp set inked in Memento Black for the inside sentiment.

I really love the formal look of this card and how sparkly it is.  I’ve listed all the products used below.

Thanks so much for stopping by…I do appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Have a wonderful day,

PPA #274 – A Little Kindness

The challenge this week at Pals Paper Arts is a great color combo……

PPA274

At first, I was inclined to think Fall with this color combination, however Calypso Coral did not really say Fall to me like the other two colors.  Instead I opted for a thank you card given that November is the month of “thanks”.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-11-09-1405)

This card came together super fast using the Designer Series paper from the Cherry on Top DSP Stack.  The fun scalloped flowers are from the Crazy About You stamp set and punched with the 1 3/4″ Scallop Punch….easy!  The sentiment comes from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set.  I like to tap into different set for each element of my cards.  By doing this, I can justify having so many sets!

I think I may have mentioned a time or two, how much I enjoy embellishing the inside of the card almost as much as the front.  This is no exception.  The sentiment is from the Oh My Goodies stamp set.  I really do not mind that the fonts don’t match.  In fact, I find that since I am pretty particular about fonts, that I am happy to use several that I really like.

I hope you enjoyed this card and thank you for taking the time to look in on my project.   I welcome your thoughts and comments.

Happy Monday,

Rosanne
