Cheery Cherries

Along with participating in a few challenges each week, I have issued myself a challenge….to use an under-used stamp set.  So for this card, I dusted off the Giggle Greetings stamp set.  I remember that this was one of the first sets I ordered when it came out in an annual catalog.  I had a lot of really great cards in mind for this set.  Sadly, that is where most of those cards stayed…in my mind!  Time to change that.

The card base is Mossy Meadow and the DSP on the entire card are prints from the Farmer’s Market DSP collection. Since I am a Farmer’s Market junkie, I knew I would love this collection…and I do! Since I only wanted the top sentiment on the front of the card, I masked the bottom setiment and stamped the top sentiment and the bowl of cherries image on Very Vanilla and cut it out with a Circles Framelit. I stamped the image again and colored the bowl of cherries with Stampin’ Write markers.  For a little more definition, I added Crystal Effects to the cherries.  After the Crystal Effects dried, I cut out just the bowl of cherries. Before I adhered the bowl to the circle image, I wrapped some Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine around the banner.  The bowl of cherries are popped up with dimensionals.  The two stray cherries were punched from the Cupcake Builder punch.

The inside of the card is stamped with the bottom sentiment, masking off the bowl of cherries and the top sentiment, along with a get well sentiment from the A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.   I then masked off both top and bottom sentiments and just stamped and colored the bowl of cherries.  I know it was a lot of masking but this really allows for more versatility when using stamp sets.

I lined the envelope with Farmer’s Market DSP  using the Envelope Liners Framelits.

Thanks for looking in on my card and I hope that your day is a Bowl of Cherries….No Pits!

PPA #270 – Cozy Hello

The challenge at Pals Paper Arts this week is a color challenge.  I must admit that one of the colors, Sahara Sand albeit a pretty plain neutral color is one of my favorites and Blackberry Bliss is definitely high on my list of favorite colors, too.   This being said I still did not have any great ideas for this challenge.

PPA270

Usually when presented with a challenge that has me stumped, I try to choose some products that I have not used recently or at all.  That’s what I did with this card.  I pulled out the new Hearth & Home Framelits along with the Blooming Borders stamp set, which I have had for a pretty long time without using it once.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-10-05-1521)

The card base is Sahara Sand and the second layer is also Sahara Sand, which I ran through the Big Shot with the Brick Wall embossing folder.  After it was embossed, I sponged the bricks with Soft Suede ink to give them a little dimension.  I really liked the way they turned out.

Watermarked Photo 4 (2015-10-05-1523) I cut the window with the Hearth & Home framelits in Soft Suede cardstock for some contrast to the bricks.  Because the window is on the outside looking in, I wasn’t sure how to create a scene through the window. So I added a piece of Sahara Sand DSP to look like wallpaper and a small piece of a Tea Lace paper doilie to the top to look like a valance.  It probably would have stood out more if the DSP was a brighter color but I wanted to stick with the challenge colors as much as I could.

Then to create the window box of flowers, I stamped the leaves with Always Artichoke using one of the stamps from the Bordering Blooms stamp set.  The border is quite long so I cut it in half and used half to go across the box.  Then I cut the other half in three sections and adhered them to each end and one in the middle to give a cascading look.  I punched the  flowers with the small flower from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and adhered a pearl to each center.

I like to stamp and embellish the inside of the card almost as much as I do the outside. The inside sentiment is from Acorny Thank You stamp set which is in the holiday catalog.  I used a small strip of Blackberry Bliss DSP from the Farmers Market collection and created the scallops with the largest die in the Squares Collection Framelits  then just layered a piece of Always Artichoke and Blackberry Bliss cardstock to create the border.

The envelope is prettied up with the border stamp on the front and the Farmers Market DSP  on the inside liner.

Here are the two main products that were sitting patiently on my shelf.  These are two really great items with endless possibilities.  Once the creative juices starting flowing, I could think of countless projects using both of these.

Fall Wreath Pillow Box – GDP 004

Today’s project is my submission to the Global Design Project’s weekly challenge. The challenge this week was to CASE the Artist. Louise Sharpe created this beautiful card that we are inspired by.

GDP 004

I haven’t used the new Pillow Box Die that is offered in the Holiday Catalog yet and was anxious to make a project with it.

As you can see, I used the same stamp set that Louise used on her card.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-10-01-1518)

The pillow box was cut out using a woodgrain patterned design from the Into the Woods Designer Series paper.  This die is so fast and easy to put together that making a few of these did not take much time at all.  I also used a die from the Circles Collection to cut a window in the front of the box and then attached a window sheet so that you would be able to see the goodies inside.

         Watermarked Photo 4 (2015-10-01-1522)            Watermarked Photo (2015-10-02-1209)

To create the wreath, I used the Wonderous Wreath stamp set with coordinating dies.  This made it a snap to cut.

I must confess that I have had this set since it appeared in last year’s holiday catalog and really have not used it much.  I became a little discouraged with trying to line up the second set of leaves until I realized that the stamps have a little handle on the bottom of each round stamp so you can line them up easily.  It only took me about a year to figure that out!  But once I had that AHA moment, it was easy and the results were really good.  You can actually see the little notches in the wreath die above.

Even though the set is primarily a Christmas set, there are so many different ways you can use the wreath.  I decided on a Fall wreath but now that I finally figured it out, I am sure I will be making wreaths for all seasons with this set.  Here are the stamped and cut wreath and flowers.

Watermarked Photo 3 (2015-10-01-1519)

The main wreath is stamped with Crushed Curry and the other leaves with Cajun Craze.  The flowers were stamped with Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry and Blackberry Bliss ink.  I did stamp a few with Old Olive and cut them apart to give each flower a set of leaves.  It’s a little hard to see in the picture but I did put a dimensional on each flower.  To finish it off I attached a bow with the Rich Razzleberry cotton ribbon.  A small sentiment could easily be added.

Watermarked Photo 2 (2015-10-01-1519)

Oh, and to really finish it off, I added some bit sized Snickers Bars!

Have a wonderful Friday,

Rosanne

Halloween Treat Bags

I wanted to get a jump start on making some Halloween treats for some special people both young and old.  These bags will probably go to the older Trick or Treaters.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-09-29-1443)

The bags were made with the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Die using the Happy Hauntings Designer Series Paper.  They are the perfect size to put a gift card or greeting card along with a candy bar or two.  That’s why the big kids will love them!

Here they are individually so you can see a little more detail.                                                                                                                                                                         Watermarked Photo 3 (2015-09-29-1444)   Watermarked Photo 4 (2015-09-29-1445)    Watermarked Photo 2 (2015-09-29-1444)

The mini treat bag thinlit is really great to have for so many different occasions.  Just change the paper and the possibilities are limitless.  They are also a snap to put together.  With this project though, the adorable little tag is the show stealer.  The tags were made using a small bit of cardstock and some little snippets of the DSP.  I cut some of the images directly from the paper.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-09-29-1448)

Watermarked Photo 4 (2015-09-30-1341)                          Watermarked Photo 2 (2015-09-30-1340)

    Watermarked Photo 3 (2015-09-29-1449)

Using the Tags and Labels Framelits, I created the framed tag by choosing two sizes of framelits and layering them before cutting with the Big Shot.  I then used the larger framelit and cut it out of cardstock and DSP gluing these two pieces together.  I lined the back of the framed tag with dimensionsals before attaching to the tag to give it a raised shadowbox effect.  The sentiment on the first tag and the BOO is from the Happy Scenes stamp set and the bird and spooky eyes on the middle tag are from the Among the Branches stamp set.  The ghosts are cut from the Designer Series paper and the sentiment is cut out with the smallest of the Lots of Lables framelits.  There are really so many ways to create fun tags using either stamps or paper.  I really do not have many Halloween stamp sets so I thought my options would be pretty limited but by using the sets I have, which are generally Fall sets, I was able to come up with these.  Instead of gluing them to the bag, I used some small clothespins which will not damage either the bag or the tag.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-09-29-1443)

I hope you have the opportunity to make a few of these for some special Trick or Treaters this year as they were a lot of fun to make!

Thanks for stopping in to see my project and please feel free to leave a comment or I will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Have a wonderful day,

Rosanne
