Acorny Hello

Happy Sunday.  It is a typical fall day here in PA…a little cloudy and cool.  Definitely sweater weather today, which I love!  I am having a good time stamping with the Acorny Thank You stamp set, although this is not a thank you note.  I have several older aunts, who are in assisted living facilities and I love to send them several cards a month in between my visits.  This is one I will be sending just to say hello.

This card came together very quickly using the Acorn Builder Punch along with the stamp set.  This is available in a bundle which is always a good value.  The card base is Crumb Cake layered with a piece of DSP from the Into the Woods Designer Series Paper. I cut the circle using the Circles Collection Dies.  Then cut a frame using the same die along with the next larger one in Old Olive cardstock.  The Hello sentiment is from the Perfect Pennants stamp set.

The acorns were punched out using Sahara Sand and Chocolate Chip cardstock and embossed  with a couple of retired embossing folders to give the acorns a little texture and “tied” together with Pumpkin Pie cotton ribbon. By adhering the little cluster of acorns in the center of the circle, it created a 3D effect while also embellishing the inside of the card.

To complete the card, the Crumb Cake envelope was lined with the same Designer Series Paper using the Envelope Liner Framelits.

I hope you enjoyed this little Fall note of hello.  I think my aunts will enjoy these cards, too.  Thanks so much for visiting.  I always welcome your comments and would be most happy to answer any questions.

PPA 269 – OH DEER!

What a unique sketch the Pals Paper Arts challenge posed to us this week.  It really took some thinking on this one to get something creative going.

09-24-PPA-269

I haven’t made a Christmas card yet and wanted to break into some of the adorable paper in the Home For Christmas Designer Series Pack.  You can see the entire collection if you click on the holiday catalog icon.  This paper has a vintage vibe to it but can be adapted to almost any holiday card.

Watermarked Photo (2015-09-26-1645)

I think the reindeer are absolutely adorable and remind me of some of the Christmas decorations we had growing up.

Watermarked Photo 2 (2015-09-26-1524)

I chose to switch the sketch a bit to give more room for my reindeer to jump around.  The card base is Whisper White Thick cardstock.  Next I embossed  Real Red cardstock with the Softly Falling embossing folder then glued on a Tea Lace doilie.  The sentiment is from the Among the Branches stamp set and is punched out with the 2″ circle punch.  I layered it on a 2 1/4″  punched circle of Real Red DSP and again on a 2 1/2″ punched circle of Garden Green cardstock.  The three deer are fussy cut from the DSP and popped up on dimensionals around the doilie. And because the sketch called for it and I did not want to stray further away from it, I adhered two White Perfect Accents to the corners.

The inside of the card is fun too! I used the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set along with the Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies, which by the way come as a bundle and could be used in countless different phrases.  The stamp set has 22 stamps that coordinate with the dies.

I hope this card made you smile and perhaps brought back a few sweet childhood memories (if you are a little vintage like me)!

Thanks so much for stopping and I welcome your comments or questions, anytime!

Welcome Little Lamb – GDP 003

GDP_Theme_Baby

The challenge at the Global Design Project this week is a theme challenge and you guessed it, the theme is Baby. Who doesn’t have fun creating adorable cards for babies? This is one of my favorite card theme. Probably because up until recently, I did not really get to create them very often. Although that has been changing as I am at the age where most of my friends are now becoming grandparents so in addition to sending a card to the new parents, I can also send one to the grandparents to welcome a new little one into the family.

Watermarked Photo 1 (2015-09-25-1453)

I used the super adorable Barnyard Babies stamp set for the front of this card. The little lamb is so sweet as is the sentiment.  This was the first time I used it and I did not want to stop.  The images are really cute and can be used for so many other occasions.  I will definitely be stamping with this again very soon.  I chose a monochromatic color scheme in Mint Macaron to keep the focus on the parade of precious lambs.  Using Mint Macaron, this card is not gender specific which makes it perfect to create a few to have on hand.  I did use the vintage (retired) Polka Dots embossing folder for its petite dots.  To give the lambs a little fluffiness, I colored their fleece with Dazzling Diamonds.

The inside of the card is again stamp with a little lamb and a sentiment from the Petite Pairs stamp set.  Even though the font is different from the front sentiment, I think this is the perfect message.

Just to complete the cuteness, I stamped the front of the envelope with a few little flowers from the Something to Say stamp set and added the same DSP from the In-Color DSP Stack to the flap.

I hope you liked this sweet little card and I thank you for stopping by….please come back soon.

Have a Happy Friday,

PPA #268 – Stars Upon Stars

It’s a sketch challenge this week at Pals Paper Arts.

PPA268

As you can see I stayed very true to the sketch by using the Star Framelits as my focal point and a sentiment from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits.

This is a very easy card to make but I think it really “shines”.  The silver glimmer paper gives it all the sparkle it needs to be a great holiday card.  Since it requires no stamping, just some cutting with the Big Shot, or as I like to say “Big Shotting”, it would not be too time consuming to mass reproduce and still look like a one of a kind type of card.

The embossed background, using the Elegant Dots embossing folder, and rhinestones were easy ways to add additional dimension to the card.

I’ve listed the supplies I used below and you will see that this card really did not use a whole lot of products but really packs a pretty punch!

Thanks for checking in on my project and please let me know what you think of it.  I welcome your comments or questions.

Have a wonderful day,

Rosanne
