Doxie Love Valentine

Doxie Love Valentine's Card -Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

Who doesn’t love a cute little dachshund?  Well, maybe not everyone but I definitely do!  I’ve long loved this funny little breed ever since   my family adopted one when I was in the second grade.  As an adult, I’ve been lucky enough to have had another little girl, Tess, who lived a long, happy life for 18 years.  And in August, we adopted another Doxie puppy, Olive.  So needless to say, these funny little creatures are near and dear to my heart.  So when Olive said she needed a Valentine card for her Dad, I got right to work.

Sunny Studios Holiday Express Valentine Card - Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

I have a colorful, fun Valentine to share today.  The backstory behind this card is that my two young grandsons, Jack & Luke are absolutely train-obsessed.  It all started with good ole “Thomas” and has evolved to all things train related.  So whenever the opportunity arises to cheer this obsession on, I take it!  Thus, my Valentine card for them.  And I must say I had a really good time making it!

I stamped, colored and cut the train from Sunny Studio’s Holiday Express stamp & die set.  The track is from Stamps of Life train dies and the color inspiration comes from the heart patterned paper from SU’s retired Pattern Party DSP.  The “smoke” sentiment” is from SU’s retired Good Greetings stamp set.  I created the cloud background using stencils. This card is a larger than normal slimline which measures 9″ x 4″ to accommodate the engine and freight cars full of “love”.  The envelope is a resume envelope…meaning it’s made from a better quality paper and a little thicker than a normal #10 envelope.

Here’s a peek inside…

I’m playing along with this week’s Paper Players Sketch Challenge HERE…I took a little liberty with the position of the sentiment.

And here is a photo of our little train enthusiasts at the Pennsylvania Railroad Museum this summer.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your week is going well!

Cute Winter Fun CAS Card

Stampin Up Freezin Fun CAS Winter Card - Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

Popping today with a Clean & Simple Winter “Just Because” card.  I feel like I’m finally finding my stamping mojo again.  When I’m lacking inspiration but still have motivation to stamp, my go-to is to look for some card challenges.  I love card challenges and have a few favorites that I would like to be more consistent in playing.  Today’s card was inspired by two challenges with the same theme…Winter Fun!  If you have to have winter, why not try to have fun, right?  And card making is my kind of fun, especially in winter!

I’m playing along with the Paper Players CAS Winter Fun Challenge: PP673 HERE

…and Retro Rubber’s Winter Fun #222 Challenge HERE

I pulled out SU’s retired Freezin Fun stamp set and colored in a few of the adorable images, not really knowing which I would use.  Once I decided on the card layout, it was easy to decide.  In keeping with the clean and simple aspect, I lightly ink blended a piece of white card stock, measuring 4 1/4″ x 2″ creating a blue sky with a white snow hill.  Then I embossed it with a snowflake embossing folder.  I added two 1/8″ strips of white glitter paper for a little sparkle.  The skiing bunny is popped with dimensionals.

Both sentiments are also from the Freezing Fun stamp set.

I’m going to send this card to my grandsons, Jack and Luke who were having some Freezin Fun here last week!

Thanks for looking in today and have a wonderful Wednesday!

Take care,

Rosanne

Tartan Foil Masculine Valentine

Stampin Up Tartan Foil Slimline Valentine Card -Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

I’m really trying to get ahead of the game with my Valentines this year. Usually it’s my husband’s card that gets done at the very last minute.  So this year, his is among the first…because he does deserve to be FIRST!

Today’s card is a slimline that measures 8″ x 3 1/2″, so it would be cut at 8″ x 7″ and scored at 3 1/2″.  I finally cut into the pretty SU Tartan Foil paper that I’ve had for some time now.  I think the colors and patterns are perfect for a masculine card.  I used a couple of heart punches for the layered hearts.  They’re popped up with dimensionals on a panel that was embossed using the SU Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.  Because of the length, I had to run it through twice.

The sentiment is from a Simon Says Kit and is heat embossed on Lost Lagoon card stock.

For my slimline cards, I create my own envelopes.  I use 32lb cardstock as it’s just a little heavier that regular copy paper but not as heavy as regular cardstock.  I’ve created a tutorial HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope your week is going well.  We’re finally seeing some of our snow melt after last week’s two snowfalls and this little girl is pretty happy about that…Olive was not impressed with her first introduction to snow!

Take care,

Rosanne
