Cheerful Cup of Tea Friendship Card

Stampin Up Cup of Tea Friendship Card - Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

It’s a dreary, cold Monday here today but I have a bright and cheerful Cup of Tea for you.  Actually this card is for a very good friend who is facing a tough health issue, so I’m hoping it cheers her up a bit.

Speaking of friends, my good friend and fellow stamper, Jeanie Stark and I got together last week to stamp although we mostly just chatted.   However, Jeanie brought this card idea with her when she came over.  She was inspired by a card from Rachel Tessman.  So we decided to give it a go.  You can see Jeanie’s beautiful creations HERE.

The unique thing about this card is that the card front is a piece of double sided DSP rather than card stock.  I used the Tea Boutique DSP along with the Cup of Tea bundle.

Materials & Measurements

  • Card Front: DSP cut at 6″ x 5 1/2″ , scored at 4 3/4″ x 1/2″ on the 5 1/2″ side
  • Tahitian Tide card stock (for back): cut at 4 3/16″ x 5 1/2″ and a 1 1/2″ panel for card front
  • Sweet Sorbet card stock (for inside): cut at 5 1/4″ x 4″ & a 1/8″ strip.  Also a 1/4 x5 1/2″ strip for card front
  • Basic White card stock (for inside): cut at 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Crushed Curry card stock for tea cup die cut

Details

  • Line the DSP panel up along the 1/2″ score line, fold the 1/2″ around the Tahitian Tide card stock and glue.  The back of the card will look like this…

  • Fold back on the 1 1/4″ score line to show the alternating side of the DSP on the front of the card.
  • Before gluing this panel to the card front, glue the 1 1/2″ Tahitian Tide panel underneath the folded DSP.  This will reinforce the edge of the card front and make it sturdier to open.
  • Then glue this panel to the card front.
  • Add the 1/4″ strip of Sweet Sorbet.
  • I used a retired doily as a pretty backdrop for the die cut tea cup.
  • The sentiment is from the Plentiful Plants stamp set.

  • In this photo you can see how pretty the inside is with the DSP.  I love the beautiful impact it makes upon opening the card.
  • I stamped the sentiment, from the Cup of Tea stamp set, on the top portion of the card so I could include a personal note.

I’m running very low on the Tea Boutique DSP, so I stamped a couple of lemon slices on the envelope front.

This was a really fun card to make and as you’ll see with Jeanie’s cards, the possibilities are endless with all the terrific Designer Series Paper choices.   There is only 2 more days to take advantage of Sale-a-bration and there are some very nice papers to select from that would work beautifully on this type of card. I’m sure I’ll be creating more cards using this layout.  I hope you’ll give it a try, too!

Irresistible Blooms Serene Sympathy

It’s Tic Tac Toe Thursday and this week’s challenge board is again loaded with creative inspiration.  There’s lots of elements alluding to Spring, which is something I’m sure most are ready for by now.

Hop on over to the  Tic Tac Toe Challenge to see what Team X has created to get your creative mojo flowing and join us this week.

In an effort to be more intentional with my projects, I created a soft and pretty sympathy card.  Although I don’t need one at the moment, I’ll be glad to have it if a moment arises. I recently received the new Irresistible Blooms Bundle and was anxious to start creating with it and thought that the pretty flowers would work well with a sympathy card…and I think they did.  There’s more information about this bundle below.

Pretty Pastel Decorative Border Birthday

Stampin Up Decorative Border Birthday Card - Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

Today I’m sharing a another card created with the Decorative Borders stamp set.  I mentioned last week how much I love this set even though I don’t think it’s one of the “stand outs” of the mini catalog.  It’s great that the mini catalog has just about something for everyone because you never know what might just catch your eye…and this set did just that for me.  It’s been mentioned to me that the set may be more appealing if it had coordinating dies.  I think that’s true but if you don’t mind (or actually like) cutting images by hand, these are not difficult at all.  I do have a Scan n’ Cut but for some reason it was not doing a good job with these images, so I just used scissors.

Materials & Measurements

  • Basic White thick card base:  cut at 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, scored at 4 1/4
  • Gold Foil: cut at 5 3/8 x 4 1/8 & 5 1/4 x 1/4 strip and a 5 1/4 x 4 panel along with two 5 x 1/8 strips (for inside)
  • Texture Chic DSP: cut at 4 x 5 1/4 and 5 x 3/4 (for inside)
  • Basic White card stock: cut at 5 x 3 3/4 (inside)

Details

  • Glue the gold foil and DSP panel to the card base
  • Position the 1/4″ gold foil strip and glue to the DSP
  • Stamp the sentiment, from the Peaceful Moments stamp set, in Versa Mark ink and heat emboss with gold embossing powder
  • Punch using the straight heart punch from the Heart Punch Pack and glue to the left side of the card.
  • Stamp and heat emboss in gold the floral border image.
  • Color using Stampin’ Blends.  I used Petal Pink and Old Olive.
  • Cut out the image and adhere it the the heart using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I added a few small gold embellishments from my stash.

Stampin Up Decorative Border Birthday Card- Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

I used another sentiment from Peaceful Moments for the inside.

This would be a pretty card for several other occasions: Sympathy, Anniversary, Wedding, Get Well…and more.

Rain or Shine Hello

Rain or Shine Rainy Day Hello Card - Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

If you’re anywhere near my age, you may remember the song “Rainy Days and Mondays”.  Well it’s Monday and I have a rainy day card.  It was actually a very rainy day when I created it.  You just never know where inspiration can come from!

I do enjoy creating scene cards, especially with cute little characters and the Rain or Shine Designer Series Paper in the Mini Catalog certainly has some of those cute characters.  This card came together super fast thanks to the DSP.  All I did was cut the images out and glue them onto a mini slimline card and add a little “hello”…so easy!

Here’s the details…

Materials & Measurements

  • Balmy Blue card base: cut at 6 1/2″ x 7″, scored at 3 1/2″ on the 7″ side
  • Basic White panel: cut at 6 3/8″ x 3 3/8″ and 6 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ (inside)
  • Rain or Shine DSP: cut at 6 1/4″ x 3 1/4″

Details

  • After adhering the white cardstock and DSP panel to the card base, add a border of flowers from a pattern in the DSP to the bottom of the DSP front panel.
  • Next cut the critter images from another DSP pattern along with a few clouds.
  • Using dimensionals, add the critters and glue the clouds.
  • Stamp the sentiment, from the Biggest Wish stamp set and cut.  Then glue it to a piece of Basic Black cardstock and cut again to create a mat.  Glue to the bottom of the card.

Rain or Shine Rainy Day Hello Card- Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

  • The inside sentiment is from the Happy Thoughts (retired) stamp set.

  • I also added a decorative border to the envelope.

Creating cards with this DSP is really a lot of fun and I actually hesitated buying it.  But I’m so glad I did.  I didn’t even purchase the stamps or dies, just the paper.  But the paper is truly enough for me.  I have a few more cards in the works.  I’ll be sending this card to my young grandsons in the month of March.  I made a commitment (to myself) to send more cards this year and I’m making sure that I send a new one each month to Jack & Luke.
