Classic Christmas Wreath – Guest Designer @ Tic Tac Toe Challenge #189

Before I jump into my post here, I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.  I hope that you are feeling blessed today and enjoying this special holiday.

Today’s post is pretty special to me.  I’m the guest designer for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge #189.  If you’ve been following me, you know that I play along with this challenge as much as I can.  I love combining the elements of the challenge board to come up with a card.  Needless to say, I had a great time with this week’s board

I created a fun fold Christmas Card with a classic feel…

I chose to go two different ways.  First column down:  December/Holiday, Twine/Ribbon, Patterned Paper and first row across:  December/Holiday, Use a Die, Embellishment

I absolutely love creating paper wreaths.  This one is created using SU’s Arrange a Wreath (retired) and MFT’s Sunflower Wreath dies. The banner was created with SU’s Toile Christmas stamp set and Cardinal Dies (both retired).  I heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.  And here’s how it opens…

Here’s a peek inside…I added a few strips of coordinating paper to give the inside some interest.  I think it’s always a nice little surprise when the inside is embellished a bit.

Measurements

1.    Crumb Cake card base:  4 1/4″ x 11″, scored @ 3 1/2″ & 2″

2.    Red Foil panel:  3 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ & 1 7/8″ x 4 1/8″ (front) & 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ (inside)

3.    Patterned paper:    3 1/4″ x 4″ & 1 3/4 x 4″

4.    Very Vanilla card stock:  5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ (inside)

I’ve listed all the products I used to create this card below.

I hope you’ll head over to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge HERE to see the challenge designers’ creative interpretation of this board.  And perhaps you’ll jump in and enter the challenge and see how much fun it is for yourself!

Thanks very much for stopping by today.

Take care,

Rosanne

Sugar & Spice Holiday Card

I can definitely say that I’m in full holiday creating mode and couldn’t be happier.  I’ve been digging out all my Christmas and Winter stamps, dies, paper and embellishments.  And I’ve been finding so many fun products in my stash.  One of the stamp sets I uncovered was Papertrey Ink’s Scent-imentals.

I randomly stamped the Gingerbread Man to create a cute background.  I used SU’s Cinnamon Cider Ink which I think is the perfect gingerbread color.  The stamp leaves a negative space heart, which I covered with a punched one.  The sentiment is stamped and heat embossed with black embossing powder and cut with a stitched rectangle die.

The inside is stamped with two sentiments from SU’s (retired) Itty Bitty Christmas.  I thought it was perfect!

I’m playing along with the Fusion Challenge HERE.  I took inspiration from both the sketch and photo.

As always, thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you’re looking forward to an enjoyable (and possibly busy) holiday week!

Take Care,

Rosanne

Elfin’ Fun Holiday Card

I mentioned in my last post that I was recently lacking in stamping mojo.   I’m happy to say…it’s definitely back and I’m hoping it’s here to stay!  Over the past 24 hours, I created four holiday cards.  I think the fact that the holidays are fast approaching has spurred me on a bit.  I have a fun card to share featuring My Favorite Things: Santa’s Elves stamps and dies.

I know there’s a lot of red and green as well as patterns here but I still had SU’s Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series paper out from my last card.  The colors and patterns in this collection scream Christmas to me and I thought they would make a fun card.

Measurements

  • White card base:  4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
  • Real Red card stock: 4 1/8″ x 5 5/8″
  • Pattern Paper:  4″ x 5 1/4″
  • Real Red card stock:  2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ & 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ (banner on front)
  • White card stock:  2 3/8″ x 3 3/8″

I stamped and heat embossed the elf.  Then stamped it again on a piece of patterned paper and paper pieced his shirt and hat while coloring the rest of him.  I added some glittered stickles to the hat rim and bell on the hat.  I also added some crystal effects to the ornament.  I colored two small pearls with a black Sharpie and added them as buttons to the front of his shirt.  I kind of get lost in these little details!

The sentiment is from the Wrapped in Christmas stamp set (retired SU) and cut with a small round die, then layered with a scallop circle.

The inside sentiment is from a set a purchased a while ago from Michaels.  Another flagged banner adds a little embellishment.

I’m playing along with the Tic Tac Toe #187 Challenge HERE

I chose the diagonal: Green, Free, Elf

As always, thank you for stopping by.  I’ll be back soon with another cute holiday card.

Take care,

Rosanne

Sending a Mug of Winter Wishes with Pretty Pink Posh – November CC2C

Hello and welcome to November’s CASEing Coast to Coast with Karen Hallem in CA and myself here in PA.  Karen and I take this trip once a month to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) each other’s projects.  This month, Karen chose our direction.  It was to create a holiday Fun Fold card.  Karen is pretty awesome at fun folds and shares them quite often on her blog, stampinghabit.  I, on the other hand, not so much!  So this was indeed a bit of a challenge.  Take a look at Karen’s card and you’ll know what I’m talking about….

It’s pretty great…right?  So, I needed to step up my game a bit.  Here is what I came up with…

I used a few recently purchased new dies from Pretty Pink Posh’s latest release:  Winter Mug and Winter Wishes Script.  These were really fun to create with and perfect for the holiday and beyond.

My fun fold card is considered a variation of a Z Fold.  Here are a few illustrations of the card construction.

And here are the rest of the measurements and details after putting the card base together using the instructions above:

1.  For the large front panel cut a piece of colored card stock 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″.  Add a piece of patterned paper cut 4″ x 5 1/4″.

2.  For the two smaller panels cut a 2 pieces of colored card stock 4 1/8″ x 2 5/8″.  Add 2 pieces of patterned paper cut 4″ x 2 1/2″.  This card is doing double duty as I created a gift card pocket on the small inside panel by notching it with a 3/4″ circle punch and gluing it very close to edge on three sides.

3.  Using the Winter Mug dies, I created the cute mug of hot chocolate.  I did use an embossing folder on the mug for some added detail.  I love the candy cane and little marshmallows!

4.  I cut the Winter Wishes Script once with glitter paper and two more times with plain white and stacked them before gluing the large front panel.  I also added a few small snowflakes for more detail.

5.  On the inside of the card, because it is also a regular greeting card, I cut a colored card stock panel at 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and a piece of patterned paper at 4″ x 5 1/4″.

6.  The sentiment panel is cut at 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″.  I cut the snowflake die from the Winter Mug set in the bottom left corner.  The sentiment is from a long retired SU Paper Pumpkin: Pining for Plaid.

Well this was officially my first Christmas card of the season.  I was really lacking some stamping mojo lately but I must say creating this card has jump started it.  I’m looking forward to pulling all my Christmas stamps, dies and papers out and  keep it going.  Hope you come along with me!

I know that you’ve seen Karen’s card here, but be sure to hop over to her blog HERE to get all the wonderful details on her holiday fun fold card.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Take care,

Rosanne
