Celebrate Sunflowers Post-it Note Holders

While it’s still officially summer and sunflower season, I’m sharing a sweet little gift that I tucked in with my thank you notes to customers for ordering during August.

These little note pad holders are one of my favorite 3D items to create.  There are so many different versions out there and I’ve tried a few.  Today’s holders are the simplest to construct.

Materials & Measurements

  • Bumble Bee card stock:          3 1/4″ x 7″, scored at 3 1/4″ & 3 5/8*
  • **note** the score lines depend on the thickness of the post-it note pad
  • Cinnamon Cider card stock:   3 1/8″ x 3 1/8″,  cut 2
  • Whisper White card stock:     3″ x 3″, cut 2

Stampin Up Celebrate Sunflowers Post-It Note Holders -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Details:

  • Stamp one of the 3″ x 3″ squares of Whisper White card stock using the Buffalo Check stamp pad in Cinnamon Cider ink.
  • Glue the stamped square to one of the Cinnamon Cider card stock squares and glue to the front of the holder.
  • Stamp 2 of the small sunflowers from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set in black ink and heat emboss with clear embossing powder.  This is totally optional as just stamping in black would work just as well.
  • Color the flowers.  I used Stampin’ Blends to color mine.
  • Using the Sunflower dies, cut the flowers and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Stamp the sentiment, from the Butterfly Gala stamp set in Early Espresso ink and hand cut.
  • Glue cut sentiment to a piece of Cinnamon Cider card stock and cut around to create a mat.
  • Adhere the sentiment with mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin Up Celebrate Sunflowers Post-It Note Holders- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • To decorate the inside, I stamped another sunflower onto the other Whisper White square and colored it.  You could easily add another sentiment to the inside.
  • The glued this to the Cinnamon Cider square and glued them both to the inside front cover.
  • Lastly, I glued the note pad using Tear & Tape.  Isn’t the paper a perfect sunflower color?!

If you haven’t tried these note holders, I urge you to give them a try.  I like to find different color note pads and match them to the card stock or DSP.  I find most of my notes at dollar stores, so they’re also very economical to make.  I’ll be making more for an upcoming craft fair in October.

Here’s a few more post-it note holders I’ve made….

Fresh & Pretty Slimline Birthday

Happy September!  Even though summer is still my favorite season, I’ve always loved September.  I absolutely loved going back to school as a child.  In fact, I still love going back to school.  Today is the first day I’ll be back in my school building since May when I had to collect my personal items from the library.  Our library has been renovated over the summer and I’ll be back today to see it for the first time.  I’m pretty excited.  It will be a little bittersweet, though.  Our students are learning virtually at least until October and then it will be decided if they can come back in the building.

There’s also another reason to love September…it’s my youngest daughter, Emily’s birthday!  Here’s the card I made for her.

Stampin Up Slimline Daisy Birthday Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

It’s been a while since I created a card with my favorite flower, the daisy.  I’m also having a great time making slimline cards.  Why didn’t this trend come along sooner!

Materials & Measurements

  • Pear Pizzazz card base:         8 1/2″ x 8″, score at 4″ on the 8″ side
  • Whisper White:                      8 1/4″ x 3 3/4″
  • Heartwarming Hugs DSP:   8 1/8″ x 3 5/8″

Details:

  • Glue the DSP to the Whisper White panel.
  • Wrap the white cotton ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season ribbon combo around the DSP panel.
  • Adhere DSP panel to the Pear Pizzazz card base.  I used a piece of fun foam for this.  You could also use Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin Up Slimline Daisy Birthday Card -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • I stamped the sentiment from the Best Years stamp set and cut it using a die from the Tasteful Labels dies.
  • I then layered it on another label from Tasteful Labels in Flirty Flamingo card stock.
  • The sentiment label is glued to the center of the card.
  • Using the Medium Daisy punch, I punched 15 flowers from Whisper White card stock.
  • To color the daisies, I used a Distressed Oxide stamp pad in Worn Lipstick.   I’m still practicing blending and I’ve found that this ink is the easiest for me to get good results with.
  • After layering and offsetting 3 flowers, I embossed a piece of Whisper White card stock using the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing Folder and punched the flower centers.
  • The daisies are adhered around the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • I stamped the leaves using an image from the Floral Essence stamp set in Pear Pizzazz and Mossy Meadow ink.  These are hand cut and tucked in between the flowers.
  • Lastly, I added a few retired gems from the Noble Peacock rhinestones.

Stampin Up Slimline Daisy Birthday Card- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • The inside sentiment is also from the Best Years stamp set.
  • Another daisy and a strip of DSP are simple yet pretty embellishments.

Stampin Up Slimline Daisy Birthday Cards - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • I purchased a box of linen resume envelopes from an office supply store for my slimline cards.

Emily’s birthday is tomorrow, 9/2 and we always celebrated it over the Labor Day weekend.  However, this year we celebrated this past weekend.  Emily is a 5th grade teacher and her district will be having in-person classes, so she went back to school yesterday and we decided that we’ll resume our lockdown type of visits to keep everyone safe.  So that means only outdoor visits and no more hugs from her or my grandson, Jack…it’s very sad!  Here’s my sweet baby and how she’ll be greeting her students.  They won’t see her dazzling smile, so she bedazzled her face shield!

I wish all the teachers, staff and students in every school district a safe and successful start to the school year.

Game On Masculine Birthday Gift Set

Stampin Up Game On Masculine Birthday Card Idea- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

My husband and I have August birthdays and this past weekend it was his turn to turn another year older!  We’re the same age for 12 days a year.  Creating masculine cards doesn’t come easy to me and when I need to make one, I don’t have a lot of sets that fit the bill.  If you’re a regular follower, you’ve probably noticed I lean towards the floral sets.  The Game On stamp set caught my eye as one that could work for Steve’s birthday.  I especially liked the sentiment.

Today’s card is a gate-fold with a belly band

Stampin Up Game On Masculine Birthday Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Materials & Measurements

Card:

  • Basic Black card base:           8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, scored at 2 1/8″ & 6 3/8″
  • Gray Granite card stock:       1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″, cut 2 & 5 1/4″ x 4″ (inside)
  • Plaid Tidings DSP:                 1 3/4″ x 5 1/8″, cut 2
  • Whisper White card stock:   5″ x 3 3/4″ (inside)

Belly Band:

  • Gray Granite card stock:     1 1/4″ x 10″, scored at 3″ & 7 3/8″

Details

  • Glue Gray Granite card stock and Plaid Tiding DSP to the two front panels.
  • Create the belly band and emboss with the Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folder.
  • Stamp the deck of cards in Cherry Cobbler ink and hand cut.
  • Glue card image to Cherry Cobbler card stock and hand cut a mat.  Then glue to Basic Black card stock and cut another mat.
  • Adhere to the belly band with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Stamp the sentiment in black ink and die cut using a label die from the Tasteful Labels dies. Die cut an additional label in Cherry Cobbler card stock to create the end borders.
  • The label was a little too large for the sentiment so I trimmed it on the top and bottom which created a different shape.

Stampin Up Game On Masculine Birthday Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • For the inside sentiment, I combined two non-SU and one SU stamp set.  The first two sentiments are from the Loving Hearts stamp set by Simon Says Stamps and the Happy Birthday sentiment is from Stampin’ Up!’s Blossoms in Bloom.  These sentiments expressed by feelings exactly!
  • I added a strip of DSP and Basic Black card stock to the bottom of the sentiment panel along with the die image from Game On.

Stampin Up Game On Masculine Birthday Card Ideas - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

  • I created a gift bag and matching tag to go along with my card.
  • The bag is from Michaels and simply embellished with a strip of DSP and card stock.
  • The tag is created using the Delightful Tag Topper Punch, which I embossed with the Wrapped in Texture embossing folder to match the belly band.
  • The corners are rounded using the Detailed Trio Punch.

CASEing Coast to Coast: Poinsettia Petals

Are you ready for another cross country stamping adventure with Karen Hallam and I?  This month Karen created this festive holiday card featuring the Poinsettia Petals Bundle available in the August-December 2020 mini catalog.

There was just so much to love about Karen’s card and so many CASEing (Copy and Selectively Edit) opportunities for me.  You can see Karen’s post HERE.  I chose to copy the layout and selectively edit the poinsettia.  Here’s what I came up with…

Stampin' Up! Poinsettia Petals Christmas Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

I knew I would really like this bundle, but until I used it for the first time making this card, I didn’t realize how MUCH I like it!  I actually purchased the entire Poinsettia Place Suite (something I don’t often do) and am so pleased with everything in it.

On today’s card I used the Poinsettia Petals stamp set,  Poinsettia dies, Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper, and the Beaded Pearls (which are my favorite embellishments…ever!).

Materials & Measurement:

Whisper White card base:  11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″

Petal Pink card stock: 3 1/4″ x 5 1/2″

Plush Poinsettia DSP:  3″ x 5 1/2″

Silver Foil:  1/4″ x 5 1/2″ strips, cut 2

Stampin' Up! Poinsettia Petals Christmas Card Idea- Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

I created the sparkly poinsettias by using the Poinsettia dies and cutting the three different sized flowers from Petal Pink card stock.  After die cutting, I inked them with Versa Mark ink and sprinkled them generously with iridescent embossing powder.  Using the heat tool, I heat set them.  I love how pretty and shimmery they turned out.  I think these flowers look so elegant against the flocked pattern from the Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper collection.  Since this paper is basically a printed vellum, it was necessary to adhere it to the Petal Pink layer so you couldn’t see the adhesive.  After layering the poinsettias, I determined where I was going to place them on the card and added adhesive to the back of the vellum in those locations.  Then I popped the poinsettias on the vellum with Stampin’ Dimensionals, adding the Pear Pizzazz holly leaves and Whisper White berry sprigs. Lastly, I added the beaded pearls to the center of the flowers using several mini glue dots to make sure they were really secured.

The sentiment is stamped in Versa Mark and heat embossed with silver embossing powder.  I flagged the ends using a square punch.  Again, I  determined where the sentiment was going and added more adhesive to the back of the vellum in this area as well.  The sentiment is popped with dimensionals also.

Stampin' Up! Poinsettia Petals Christmas Card Idea -Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

For the envelope, I used Elmer’s spray adhesive on the flap to adhere the vellum and glued a 1/4″ strip of Petal Pink card stock across the top.

This is my first Christmas card of the year and I can say that creating this card has definitely put me in the mood to create more!

Thanks for stopping by here on the East Coast, please take the virtual trip West and check out Karen’s card that provided all the wonderful inspiration for my project today.
