Remembering Flourishing Phrases

For today’s card, I dug out a stamp set that has been around for a few catalog seasons but still stands the test of time in my book, Flourishing Phrases. If you don’t have this set, I would urge you to take a look at it and consider all the possibilities.

I’m trying to get into a Fall frame of mind even though the weather here in Southeastern PA is still very much summer-like. So to ease my way into the upcoming season, I choose these flowers because they reminded me of the chrysanthemums that I love. I also choose a color palette that could easily pass for summer or early fall.

The A2 card base is Very Vanilla card stock.
The pattern paper is from the Country Lane Designer Series Paper collection and is cut at 4 7/8″ x 3 7/8″. I really like the patterns in this collection as most can be used well beyond Fall and for many different occasions…just a bigger bang for the buck!

A small strip of Crushed Curry card stock is added to the DSP to create a background for the lattice border. This is another little border from the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper.

I cut an oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits in Very Vanilla card stock and stamped it with a sentiment from the Best Birds stamp set.
Another oval cut from the Layering Ovals Framelits in Basic Black card stock is offset behind. This is then popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The flowers are stamped twice in Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry. I cut the inside of one of each color and adhered it to the full flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The center of each flower is a pearl colored with the Basic Black Stampin’ Blend. The flowers are also popped with dimensionals.
I stamped a few sets of leaves in both Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz ink. Both the flowers and leaves were hand cut.

For the inside, I combined two sentiments from the Best Birds stamp set and added a pretty border with DSP and card stock.
Some more DSP on the envelope flap gives a pretty finished look.

Happy Monday…hope you are looking forward to a wonderful week ahead. I’m really enjoying getting back to regular blogging. This is mainly because that means that I’m back to regular stamping, as well!

Today’s card features another favorite bundle, Time for Tea. I am totally a tea person so this set was a must have. The images and sentiments in this set are just so sweet. All the images on the front of the card were stamped and cut using this bundle.

I also used the Tea Room Specialty Designer Series Paper. I really like sets that have coordinating DSP. It takes a lot of the guess work out of creating and I’m usually happy with the results.

An extra little detail on this card is the scalloped border. This is a strip from the Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Specialty paper. The patterns in this collection are just so delicate and there are many to choose from. Honestly, I was a little reluctant to purchase this thinking I wouldn’t use it. However, I can see a lot of possibilities with this paper collection. The three embellishments on the top corner were created using the Clear Epoxy Droplets found in the Holiday Catalog. I colored them with a Bermuda Bay Light Stampin’ Blend and it matched the Coastal Cabana DSP perfectly.

I used a sentiment from the Hanging Garden stamp set along with a couple of flowers from Time for Tea for the inside. The envelope got a little embellishing with DSP and card stock. This is a great way to use up some scraps and give the recipient a little hint of the loveliness inside!

Hi All…I know it’s been a long time since you’ve had a post from me. It’s been a whirlwind summer for Steve and I. We decided to put our house up for sale just to “see” if it would sell. Well it did…in only 4 hours with a 30 day settlement. Needless to say, we needed to find a new home and pack up 25 years of memories. We did it and are happily settled in our new home in a different county of PA. Because we moved a good distance from where we lived, I needed to leave my job at the community library. I really enjoyed working there and was sad to leave. However, I began working at the local Middle School library two weeks ago. Just like stamping, libraries are in my blood.

There are still many boxes to unpack and I don’t have my stamping area set up yet but I really missed stamping. I set up a makeshift area in a spare bedroom and dug out some of my supplies. It feel so good to be back to stamping!

Onto my projects…..

Today, I created two cards from the same stamp set, Animal Outing and the coordinating Animal Friends thinlits dies. This bundle is one of my favorite from the Annual Catalog and I knew I needed to start creating with it. I also used the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper. The patterns in this collection are so whimsical and fun. I can already see a few more cards coming from this collection.

Let’s start with the sweet Hippo.

The card base is a Whisper White A2 (5 1/2 x 4 1/4) card. The next layer is Berry Burst card stock measuring 1/8″ smaller. This layer is glued directly to the card base.
Another piece of Whisper White card stock is cut an additional 1/8″ smaller. I really like how the thin margins give just a hint of a colored border.
Using a straight edge circle from the Layering Circles framelits, I cut an opening in the smaller Whisper White layer. Then created a Berry Burst frame from a scalloped circle die.
Next I cut a piece of Designer Series Paper that would fit behind the window and glued it to the Berry Burst card stock.
The Whisper White card stock is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the Berry Burst layer. This created just enough “lift”.
The little Hippo is stamp in Memento Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends and then popped with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I stamped two sentiments from the Animal Outing stamp set onto a thin banner and added a couple of leaf branches, which were cut using a die from Animal Friends thinlits.
Since I could only find my pearls, I colored one with the Stampin’ Blends to add to the banner.

For the inside sentiment on both cards, I used the stamp set, A Little Wild.
A little strip of DSP and card stock give the inside of the card some more sweetness.
The envelope flap is embellished with another pattern from Animal Expedition DSP.

Onto the precious Kangaroo & Koala…

This card is created using the same method as the Hippo card except with the Layering Squares framelits.
I used Granny Apple Green card stock for this card and another adorable pattern from the Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper collection.

The stamps in this set are simply so sweet and just make me smile!
For the envelope flap, I used a Granny Apple Green pattern from the Brights 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper.

I had such a good time creating both of these cards and think they are a nice break from the traditional pink and blue baby cards.

I’m so happy to be back in the stamping saddle. Thanks so much for hanging in there with me during my move. I’m looking forward to getting back to posting on a more frequent schedule again.

Varied Vases Hello

I’m back today with another card using the Varied Vases bundle. This is such a wonderful value that includes 34 photopolymer stamps and a builder punch.

The hello die featured on this card is from Spellbinders. It was part of a set in their May Small Die of the Month and is still available.

Normally I would use Whisper White thick card stock for my card base. But this card has multiple layers that created enough stability, allowing me to use regular Whisper White card stock. The next two layers are Grapefruit Grove and Basic Black card stock each cut subsequently1/8″ smaller.

An additional Whisper White layer, cut at 5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ is layered with a Grapefruit Grove pattern from the 2018-2020 In-Color Designer Series Paper cut at 5 1/8″ x 2 1/4″. The hello die was then cut and lined up on top of the DSP layer.

I stamped two of the flower images from Varied Vases stamp set directly onto a Whisper White oval cut from the Layering Ovals framelits and colored them with Stampin’ Write Markers in Grapefruit Grove. Then I stamped the same image, fussy cut it and popped it between the stamped images with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional. The vase was stamped in Black Archival ink and punched with the coordinating Vase Builder punch. This was also popped with Dimensionals. Layering this onto a scalloped oval, also from the Layering Ovals framelits created a pretty border. Lastly, I added a few black dots from the Faceted Dots collection.

The inside is simply stamped with a sentiment from the retired stamp set, Friendship’s Sweetest Thoughts, and another colored flower image.

A coordinated envelope ties it altogether for a special custom presentation.
