Take Two Tuesday: Charming Day Thank You

Today’s cards combine the Fancy Border and Charming Day dies to create a simple, yet interesting card layout. The Fancy Border die is cut to allow a peek of Floral Bloom Designer Series Paper, while still giving a clean look to the card. And the foliage die from the Charming Day dies adds just enough interest to the card front.

Dimensions…

Colored card stock card base: cut @ 4 1/4 x 11, scored @ 5 1/2

Floral Charm DSP: cut @ 4 x 5 1/4

Basic White card stock: cut @ 4 x 4 1/2

Details…

Using a die from the Fancy Borders die, cut the white card stock panel at 3 1/4 from the top.

Glue the larger piece of the white panel over the top of the DSP panel and then glue the smaller piece to the bottom of the DSP panel. This will create a 3/4″ gap for the DSP to show. Adhere this to the card base using dimensionals.

Cut two foliage pieces using the Charming Day dies: one in white and the other in the coordinating card stock color. Glue in an offset to create a “shadow” effect. Glue this to the card front as shown.

The sentiment, from the Charming Day stamp set, is stamped in the coordinating ink color with a few embellishments added.

The envelope is embellished with a fancy border die cut, also.

…and also the inside!

I had a lot of fun working with the Fancy Border dies and have a few more card ideas working on my desk.

I hope your week is going well so far. I’ll be back on Thursday for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge…see you then.

Take care,

Rosanne

Monday Blues: Pretty Florals meets Timeless Plaid

Happy Monday and welcome to another installment of the Monday Blues. Today’s “blue” card is a pretty “celebratory” card…meaning that the sentiments are ambiguous enough that it can be used for a number of occasions.

I paired the flower from the Pretty Florals Dies with the blue plaid pattern from the Timeless Plaids 6 x 6 Designer Series Paper and added a trim using the Fancy Border Dies.

Here’s the details…

Cut the Boho Blue card base @ 7 x 5 1/2 and score at 4 1/4.

Cut Timeless Plaid DSP @ 5 1/2 x 3 1/4 but do not glue it to the card front yet.

Create the trim by layering a white and blue trim using the Fancy Border dies and gluing together. Add the trim to the bottom of the plaid DSP.

Glue the plaid panel to the card front.

Next add a 5 1/2 x 1/4 Boho Blue strip where the borders meet the plaid DSP. This will cover where the trim was glued to the plaid panel.

Cut the flower and leaves from the Pretty Florals dies in white card stock and lightly blend using Balmy Blue and Lemon Lime ink. The flower outline is cut from Boho Blue card stock. Pop up with dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the retired Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and is heated embossed and hand cut.

I embellished the inside with DSP and a border. The sentiment is from another retired set, Peaceful Moments.

Enjoy your day!

Fun Fold Friday: Poppin’ By Pop-Out Fun Fold

Once again, I played along with Jeanie Stark’s Mystery Monday Fun Fold Challenge and once again it was another fold that was new to me. All the measurements and directions to make one of these fun cards can be found on Jeanie’s blog HERE.

I used the whimsical, Poppin’ By Bundle. This bundle can be found in the Online Exclusives. This is a cute little set and lo and behold, it didn’t have one flower in it!! My grandsons, Jack & Luke love popcorn, especially on movie nights so I’ll be making a few projects for them with this set. It would also be awesome as a gift card holder for movie tickets.

I especially like the little film reel…don’t know why but I think it’s so cute!

And here’s the back…I’ll use the middle left panel to write a short note. Both middle panels are stamped to create “homemade” DSP. The patterned paper is from the Floral Delights Designer Series Paper collection.

This is just a short post as I’m posting late today. I hope you looking forward to a relaxing weekend.

Take care,

Rosanne

Tic Tac Toe Thursday: Nests of Winter Thinking of You Card

You would think using the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper in the middle of a hot, humid summer would somehow beat the heat…nope! But this paper is not just for winter. Today, I created a Thinking of You card with someone who is struggling a bit in mind. I hope just knowing that I’m thinking of this person will brighten their day a little.

As a card maker, I don’t send out that many of the cards I make. I have so many cards just waiting to be sent that are just sitting and piling up. So with this in mind, I’m trying to make an effort to send more cards whether there’s a reason or not. Sending a card is one of the simplest acts of kindness, especially with all the turmoil in the world today. So here’s a question: do you send many cards? And here’s another question: would a card from me brighten your day? If so, let me know and I would love to send you one!

I used the Tic Tac Toe Challenge board as inspiration…choosing the first row across: Nature, Circles, Foliage

The DSP did most of the work on this card. I did have to reach back in my stash to use some retired products, such as the Layering Circles dies along with the Butterfly Gala stamp set for the heat embossed sentiment on the front.

The sentiment on the inside comes from the current, Inspiring Imperfections stamp set which is in the Annual Catalog and was perfect for this card.

While I’m not on this week’s design team for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, I do enjoy participating and would love it if you would head over to check out the designer’s creative projects HERE and perhaps contribute your own! I think you will really enjoy playing along!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Take care,

Rosanne
