Tic Tac Toe Thursday: Nests of Winter Thinking of You Card

You would think using the Nests of Winter Designer Series Paper in the middle of a hot, humid summer would somehow beat the heat…nope! But this paper is not just for winter. Today, I created a Thinking of You card with someone who is struggling a bit in mind. I hope just knowing that I’m thinking of this person will brighten their day a little.

As a card maker, I don’t send out that many of the cards I make. I have so many cards just waiting to be sent that are just sitting and piling up. So with this in mind, I’m trying to make an effort to send more cards whether there’s a reason or not. Sending a card is one of the simplest acts of kindness, especially with all the turmoil in the world today. So here’s a question: do you send many cards? And here’s another question: would a card from me brighten your day? If so, let me know and I would love to send you one!

I used the Tic Tac Toe Challenge board as inspiration…choosing the first row across: Nature, Circles, Foliage

The DSP did most of the work on this card. I did have to reach back in my stash to use some retired products, such as the Layering Circles dies along with the Butterfly Gala stamp set for the heat embossed sentiment on the front.

The sentiment on the inside comes from the current, Inspiring Imperfections stamp set which is in the Annual Catalog and was perfect for this card.

While I’m not on this week’s design team for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge, I do enjoy participating and would love it if you would head over to check out the designer’s creative projects HERE and perhaps contribute your own! I think you will really enjoy playing along!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Take care,

Rosanne

Creating Coast to Coast: Christmas in July

Karen and I are so happy to be back collaborating again! We’ve changed our CASEing Coast to Coast monthly stamping adventure to Creating Coast to Coast. If you’ve been following us for sometime, you may remember that each month, Karen Hallam at www.stampinghabit.com and myself take turns taking the lead in choosing a theme, color combination, sketch or product. Karen lives in sunny CA and I live in hot, humid PA, thus the title of our collaboration. This month, we’re starting our journey in CA with the theme of “Christmas in July”. Here’s Karen’s fun holiday card…you can see all the details HERE.

…and here’s my card using the upcoming Peaceful Garden suite, which was available as a preorder during last month’s Creativity Now Event. It’s actually the only upcoming current Christmas set I have at the moment as I’m waiting on a few holiday Online Exclusive sets.

Since blue is my favorite color, I like that Stampin’ Up introduced it as a holiday color in these products. The products in this suite are very versatile and can be used year-round for many occasions, which makes it a good value. The suite of products will be available for order on September 3rd in the holiday catalog.

Thanks for stopping in today. It feels good to be back crossing the country with Karen. I hope you enjoyed the trip, as well!

Take care,

Rosanne

Take Two Tuesday: Notes & Totes Card and Gift Card Holder

Welcome to Take Two Tuesday. For this week’s project, I created a card and coordinating gift card holder using the Notes & Totes dies along with the Storybook Moments DSP. They turned out exactly as I envisioned they would. And let me tell you, this almost never happens!

Here, take a look…

Here’s the details…

Crumb Cake card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, scored at 4 1/4

Very Vanilla card stock: 5 3/8 x 4 1/8

Timeless Plaid DSP: 5 3/8 x 1/2

Crumb Cake strip: 5 3/8 x 1/4

The bag is created using the Notes & Totes dies and patterns from the Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper along with Crumb Cake card stock. To make the tote bag sturdier, I first cut it with Crumb Cake card stock and then again with DSP and glued them together. Obviously, I only had to cut one side for the card front.

I filled the bag with vegetables die cuts from the Storybook Moments DSP. No die cutting on my part as they just punched out from the paper included in the DSP collection! Most of the veggies are popped up with dimensionals.

The little sentiment is from the retired So Sentimental stamp set and tied to the handle with linen thread. The enamel dots are from long-ago retired embellishments. I have an over-abundance of retired embellishments that come in handy for many projects.

The bag is created the same way as the bag on the card front, except with the added pocket on the front. The sentiment here is from the retired Cup of Tea stamp set and was the perfect size to add to the pocket. I absolutely love these dies and the wonderful little bags they create. Here’s a photo of another card I created with the Notes & Totes dies. The details for this card can be found HERE.

I think I could make these totes all day!! I would love to know what you think of them and if you have them, are you enjoying them as much as I am?

Thanks for taking time to check our my Take Two Tuesday. I’ll be back tomorrow with Karen Hallam to re-ignite our Cross Country stamping adventure. I hope you’ll come back for that, too!

Take care,

Rosanne

Fun Fold Friday: Tucked Fun Fold Birthday

It’s been such fun following along and participating in Jeanie Stark’s weekly Mystery Monday challenge. I’m enjoying learning new fun folds along with seeing Jeanie’s and other’s cards. It’s something I look forward to each week. And today’s fold may be my favorite so far…it’s called a Tucked Fun Fold. It was very quick to put together but surely doesn’t look that way. Jeanie’s directions were very straightforward and easy to follow. If you haven’t already, why not give Mystery Monday a try.

Instead of re-inventing the wheel, you can find all the measurements HERE on Jeanie’s blog, as well as seeing her beautiful cards.

My card features the Storybook Moments and Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper on a Basic Beige card base. Both of these DSP’s can be found in the Storybook Moments Suite. The front panel is embossed with the Eyelet 3D embossing folder. And the sentiment is stamped and cut from the Wonderful Thoughts bundle.

I feel like opening this card is like drawing back a curtain to reveal the inside…

The inside sentiment is from a Gina K stamp set.

I had a lot of fun with this fold and know that I’ll be trying it again very soon! My sister’s birthday is later this month and I think I’ll send this to her, as we both enjoy growing vegetables. I used to have a fairly large vegetable garden but when we downsized several years ago, no longer have the space. So both my sister and I have “back deck” gardens, where we grow our vegetables in pots. And I must say, her deck garden is thriving much more than mine this year so I think she’ll enjoy this card.

I hope that you’re heading into an enjoyable weekend. It’s truly the dog days of summer here in PA with all the heat, humidity and storms but I know we are luckier than so many other states, so I’m not complaining, just thankful. I’m also thankful that you took the time to stop by!

Take care,

Rosanne
