I had a hard time deciding which season is my “happiest”.  I love summer but probably look forward to autumn the most.  So since the summer is waning and in anticipation of autumn, I created a Thanksgiving card using the Pretty Pumpkins bundle.  Of all the Fall products in the July-December Mini Catalog, this bundle is by far my favorite!

For today’s card, I decided to go with a non-traditional color palette of Mint Macaron, Pool Party and Soft Sea Foam.  My inspiration for this color combination came from a DSP pattern from a few years ago.  HERE’s a link to a card I made then.  I really like to soft green shades.

  • The pumpkins are heat embossed with white embossing powder and sponged with ink.  This is a perfect technique for the beautifully patterned pumpkins.
  • The stitched scallop border was created using a die from the Penned Flowers dies.
  • The sentiment is also from the Pretty Pumpkins stamp set.
  • I used a few rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

  • I gave the envelope a little extra love by heat embossing the envelope flap and adding a double scalloped border.

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on September 8th. Our theme will be “Focus on the Sentiment” when our Design Team creates a project showcasing a sentiment as the focal point of their project. Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Hand-Penned Petals Birthday

Stampin Up Hand Penned Petals Birthday Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Although I tried not to buy more floral sets, I knew as soon as I saw the Hand-Penned Bundle in the Annual Catalog that I HAD to have this one.  I especially like the floral spray on today’s card.  Initially I thought I would color it with Stampin’ Blends but decided to just use the two-step stamp method that the set was made for.  Honestly, it took a few tries to get the color combination and the actual stamping the way I wanted it.  At least with this set, the two-step is quite forgiving!  Anyway, I think it made a pretty birthday card.

The card base is Basic White thick card stock.  A pattern from the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper is cut at 5 1/4″ x 2″ and glued to the bottom of the Highland Heather (5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″) panel, leaving a 1/8″ border on the bottom and sides.  Next I embossed a piece of Basic White (5 1/4″ x 2 1/4″) card stock using the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.  Before gluing it, I added the scalloped border using a die from the Penned Flowers dies. Once both top and bottom panels were adhered to the Highland Heather panel, I wrapped a piece of Gorgeous Grape 3/8″ ribbon around it.  Then it was glued to the card base.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment which is from the Sweet as a Peach stamp set.

After stamping the floral image using black, Pale Papaya, Highland Heather, Flirty Flamingo and Pear Pizzazz inks, I cut it using the coordinating Penned Flowers die.  I also cut it out two more times to layer instead of using dimensionals.  Lastly, I added a few matching (retired) rhinestones.

The inside sentiment is from the Pansy Patch stamp set.  The envelope is stamped to coordinate with the card.

Plentiful Plants Window Thank You

Stampin Up Plentiful Plants Window Thank You Card - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

Monday again!! I’m still having a great time creating with the Plentiful Plants bundle.  I especially like the “macrame” hanger!  For today’s card, although it’s hard to see in the photos, I created an acetate window to hang the plant behind. It gives the card something a little extra special.

The window was created using the second and third largest Stitched Rectangle dies with a piece of clear acetate adhered to the back.  Foam Adhesive strips are added all around.

After I had the window created, I used a pattern from the Bloom Where You’re Planted DSP as a background. This is cut to fill the entire window. The potted plant is hand cut from the same DSP and tucked into a stamp flower pot. And the hanger is cut from the Perfect Plants dies. I use dimensionals to adhere it to the center of the DSP. I also added a small piece of white baker’s twine to “hang” the entire plant.  Next, the window is added to cover the plant and background panel.

The sentiment is also from the Plentiful Plants stamp set.  I almost always heat emboss sentiments on card fronts.  It makes them stand out just a bit more. This one is embossed with black embossing powder.  And it’s cut using a die from the Perfect Plants dies. Then to give it some dimension without using dimensionals, which would have given too much dimension, I cut two more labels and stacked them, then glued it the the frame. This made the label very sturdy and stable on the frame.

I kept the inside very clean and simple with just a touch of embellishing with DSP.  I did the same with the envelope flap.

You’re a Peach Thank You

Stampin Up You're a Peach Thank You Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern stampinup

I’ve brought together a few different products to create this pretty thank you card.  One of the products that I’m completely smitten with lately is the Paper Lattice in the Annual Catalog.  Any time Stampin’ Up comes out with anything similar to a lattice, I’m all in.  Lattice creates such a pretty backdrop especially for floral images. I’ve paired it with a DSP  “concrete” pattern from the Bloom Where You’re Planted collection and hand cut peach blossoms from You’re a Peach DSP.  The paper did most of the work on this card, for sure!

Materials & Measurements

  • Basic White thick card stock:  11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″
  • Pale Papaya card stock: 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″
  • Pear Pizzazz card stock: 5 1/8″ x 3 3/8″
  • Bloom Where You’re Planted DSP:  3 1/4″ x 5″
  • Paper Lattice

Details

  • Glue the Pale Papaya panel to the card base.
  • Glue the Pear Pizzazz panel to the left side of card, leaving a 1/8″ margin around the left side and the top.
  • Using a sentiment from the Sweet Peach stamp set, stamp along the top right side of the Pale Papaya panel in Versa Mark in and heat emboss with black embossing powder.
  • Place glue lightly on the back of the Paper Lattice and glue it to the DSP panel, trimming if needed.
  • After snipping a few of the peach blossom images from You’re a Peach DSP, arrange them on the bottom left side of the card.  I glued some directly to the lattice and used dimensionals on others.
  • I added some sequins from the Artistry Blooms Sequins to the Lattice for a little sparkle.  This is, of course, completely optional.

  • After adding some DSP to the bottom of the inside panel, I stamped a sentiment from Ornate Thanks along the bottom.
  • And added a couple more snipped peach blossoms.
