Two for Tuesday: Irresistible Blooms Birthday

It’s Two for Tuesday.  Each Tuesday during the month of May, I’ll be featuring two cards either using the same stamp set, patterned paper or card layout.  A lot of times while making a card, I’ll have the thought that it would look good in another color, pattern, or with a different layout.  So I hope to show that by using just one aspect, you can create two slightly or totally different cards.  And basically you don’t have to “re-create the wheel” to do so.

So here’s today’s Take Two…

Stampin' Up! Irresistible Bloom Birthday Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

I’m featuring the Online Exclusive, Irresistible Blooms bundle…remember this?  When new products come out, they get so much attention in the beginning and then we tend to forget about them when something newer comes out.  Well as excited as I am to create with some of the new products from the Annual Catalog, I’m still enjoying this bundle.  I’ve only used the products from the Online Exclusives on these cards as well as the same card layout.

Here’s the details…

Cut & Measure

  • Basic White Thick card base: 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • Colored Card stock: 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
  • White Embossed panel: 3 3/4″ x 5″
  • Colored Card stock strip: 3 7/8″ x 7/8″ (cut 3)
  • DSP: 3 3/4″ x 3/4″ (cut 3)

Assemble

  • Emboss the Basic White panel using the crosshatch embossing folder from the Basic 3D Embossing Folders HERE.
  • Glue to the colored card stock panel.  I used Soft Sea Foam and Petal Pink.
  • Then adhere to the card base using dimensionals.
  • Cut 3 strips from the colored card stock and 3 strips from the Hello Irresistible Designer Series Paper and glue together.
  • Glue these panels to the card front.  Start by centering the middle panel and then working one either side to get them evenly spaced.
  • Cut the flowers and leaves from the DSP using the Irresistible Blooms dies and arrange on the card.
  • Stamp a sentiment and add to the flowers.  I used a sentiment from the Irresistible Blooms stamp set.  I didn’t want the “hooray” on my sentiment so I masked it off and was able to use just the smaller text which fit better for these cards.  This is a way to get a little more mileage from your stamps.
  • Add a few of the coordinated Loose Frosted Dots.

This was a fun exercise.  I enjoyed choosing different DSP to use that would fit with the card layout.  I also liked the challenge of just using one suite of products as most times I tend to mix products.

The new Annual Catalog starts today!  I’m excited about so many new products.

I also have a new Host Code for May: FZ3KZ2DC

Thanks very much for stopping by today and I hope you liked the first Two for Tuesday. I’m looking forward to the next one.

Take care,

Rosanne

Monday Blues: Dainty Delight Celebration Card

Happy New Month…Happy New Week!  This week is the launch of the new Annual Catalog.  New products are always exciting and also seem to give new life to all those products that carry over.  So with the beginning of the new catalog period and new month, I’ll be trying something new too.  I’ve assigned a “theme” to each day.  By theme, I mean that it may be a certain color, card layout, technique, etc.  I’m starting the week off with the “Monday Blues”.  As blue is my favorite color, I’ll be creating a project featuring that color each Monday.  And even if it’s not your favorite color, the project will be easily adaptable to any color scheme.

So to start the new month, new week and new catalog, here’s my Monday Blues project…

Stampin Up Dainty Delights Celebration Card Idea - Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

So let’s get to what you came here for…a project.  I just recently purchased the Dainty Delights bundle while it was still at the bundled price off 10% off (which ends today) and I’m so happy I did.  I love the floral images and dies.  They are perfect for so many occasions.  Today, I created a card that could be used for a number of occasions.  I paired this set with the new to be released, Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper.

Here’s the details…

Measure & Cut

  • Misty Moonlight card base:  cut at 11″ x 4 1/4″, scored at 5 1/2″ & 3 3/4″ x 1″
  • Misty Moonlight (inside): 5 1/4″ x 4″ & 3 3/4 x 7/8″
  • Night of Navy card stock:   5 1/4″ x 4″ & 3 3/4″ x 7/8″
  • Night of Navy (inside):  5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Silver Foil:  5 1/8″ x 3 7/8″ and 3 3/4″ x 1 1/8″
  • Countryside Inn DSP floral pattern:  3 3/4″ x 3 and 3 3/4″ x 3/4″ (inside)
  • Countryside Inn DSP striped pattern:  3 3/4″ x 2″

Assemble

  • Glue the Night of Navy and Silver Foil to the Misty Moonlight card base.
  • Glue the floral DSP pattern to the top of the card and the striped pattern to the bottom, leaving an 1/8″ border.  There will be a little gap in the the middle but that will be covered up by the sentiment panel.
  • Stamp two of the floral images from the Dainty Details stamp set and heat emboss with black embossing powder.
  • Cut with the coordinating dies.
  • Color with Stampin’ Blends, I used: Real Red, Daffodil Delight & Old Olive.
  • On the Night of Navy strip, stamp the sentiment, from the Dainty Delights stamp set and heat emboss with silver embossing powder.
  • Glue the layers of the sentiment panel together .
  • Position the larger floral image.  I had to cut a little from the bottom.  Glue to the card front.
  • Adhere the sentiment panel with dimensionals.
  • Glue the smaller floral image onto the sentiment panel.
  • I added a thin piece of silver cording from my stash.
  • Lastly, but not really evident in the photo, I added a few clear dots.

  • The inside sentiment is from the Dainty Delights stamp set also.

I hope you enjoyed a nice weekend.  Ours was cold, wet and dreary with a wonderful dose of a grandson sleep-over.  My daughter, Emily participated in the Broad Street Run in Philadelphia on Sunday.  Her and my 5 year old grandson, Jack, spent the weekend in Philadelphia with my older daughter and her husband, who also ran the the race.  So Steve and I enjoyed having our almost 2 year old grandson, Luke, stay with us.  He is at such a fun age, talking and understanding along with NEVER sitting still.  It was a weekend of reading books, playing with trains, watching Sesame Street, and lots of snacking…I loved it!

Hues of Happiness Hello

Continuing my efforts to use up some retiring Designer Series Paper, I’m sharing a pair of cards created with the Hues of Happiness DSP.  While this collection has some big, bold and beautiful floral prints, I decided to use a little more subtle but equally pretty pattern.

A Butterfly Kiss Goodbye

Stampin' Up! Butterfly Kisses Hello Card - Rosanne Mulhern Heartfelt Stamping

Finally Friday!  Although Fridays really don’t have the same feel now that I’ve retired.  However, the weekend is always something to look forward to.

In an effort to use up some retiring Designer Series Paper, my card today features the Butterfly Kisses DSP.  I really like the patterns and butterflies that can be cut from this paper.

Here’s the details…

Measure & Cut

  • Basic White thick card base:  cut at 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″
  • Calypso Coral card stock:  cut at 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ and 5 1/4″ x 4″ (inside)
  • Floral DSP:  cut at 5 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ and 5″ x 1″ (inside)
  • Striped DSP:  cut at 5 1/4″ x 1 1/2″
  • Basic White card stock:  5″ x 3 3/4″ (inside)

Assemble

  • Glue the Calypso Coral panel to the card base.
  • Glue the DSP panels leaving 1/8″ margins around the edges.  This will leave a small space in the middle between each pattern.
  • Stamp the sentiment, from the Pansy Patch stamp set, on the striped DSP.
  • Cut the butterflies from the DSP and adhere with dimensionals.
